Busquets is an embarrassment to the sport.

Has Real Madrid started their preseason yet? I wonder what tactics he'll pick. He has to set out for a very attacking, aesthetically pleasing team surely (although Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United et al didn't install an attacking ethos overnight).

I would agree that he's still got a ways to go until his peak. At least today he tried to use his pace a bit more and skin defenders instead of just holding up play. But he'll always be better as an impact sub for me, his decision making needs to improve before he can walk into the first team again.

2 of the goals were direct assists from Walcott and IIRC he won the corner which led to the other. Almost all of Arsenal's effective attacks went through Walcott. He'd just be wasted on the bench IMO. I agree he can be a bit of an enigma, but perhaps that's why I like talking about him so much :)

With that much delusion you're not a secret Toon Army fan are you? :lol :lol

Remember when you went on RTG and made an absolute tit of yourself? That's true 'Toon Army' credentials for you right there. Even a mag posted in the topic slating you :lol

We will finish above your lot of cloggers this season. I hope you're enjoying the huge talents that are Danny Collins and Dean Whitehead.

If not, there should be. I think everyone uses the one on the official site ( www.premierleague.com ) nowadays.
I've already selected my team for the start of the Premiership.

If there was a GAF league I'd be in on it.

As for the footballing season ahead, I hope Cesc stays at Arsenal and the constant tapping up by the numerous Barcelona players can end, at least until the end of next season.

I'm hoping to at least come away with one trophy this year, we really can't attract the talent without lifting some silverware.

Official: Mexican ex-Barcelona Defender Rafael Márquez goes to New York Red Bulls.

...isn't he kinda young to be thinking about retirement?

I heard his girl wanted to become a model or some shit, think that was the deciding factor.

Besides it's either that or go back to Mexico, which clearly is his last resort.

Actually I shouldnt laugh, because it's people like Titus Bramble (and Jason Lee) that make me realise I could have been a footballer.

CHICHARITOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He and Nani are going to be a revelation this year, I can feel it.

God I hope so. Fingers crossed on getting Ozil too. I have no idea why clubs aren't lining up to sign the guy this instant. The only thing I can think of is that they're waiting until the end of the window to drive the price down as he's goingg on a free next year.

We really need a Scholes replacement fast.

And still the Sunderland reserves finish above you lot for 2 seasons in a row, spending alot less money..............go figure :lol

I was on a wind up, even a mag could see that.
and it worked

Get over it.

I'm actually seeing you's avoiding the drop by a clear margin this season with the mags, blackpool and west brom/ham(?) going down.

6th Stoke City
7th Sunderland

;)

Torres is staying? Doesn't he know a sinking ship when he sees one? :lol

Seriously though it's nice to see some club loyalty in this day and age. Best striker in the league, if he can last a whole season Liverpool might just be able to finish above Everton.

Newcastle going down. Stoke and Sunderland in the top 10. I've seen some posts in my time, but this takes the proverbial biscuit.

The scum are weak as piss, they'll finish 18th-15th. Of that I have no doubt.

SAFC and Stoke will not finish in the top 7 though, think he was having a bit of fun... but then again he is a Stoke fan so I can't be too sure ;)

LOl indeed, seems like the Liverpool will be sold and soon, apparently the Premier League have been notified of a possible change in ownership to comply with the new rules. Lets hope how new owner will be better than the 2 cowboys we have atm

Easier said than done. The sale for Hicks' baseball team is a fucking mess right now. How is the situation at liverpool right now?

The Guardian said:
Javier Hernandez scored within 90 seconds of coming on for Manchester United and showed signs of prodigious talent.

Sometimes in football there is nothing quite so exciting as the first time you see a prodigiously talented player in the flesh and realise you might be witnessing something special. It is that rich sense of anticipation, and when it is a young player who shows no sign of trepidation about being handed the keys to the football universe it can feel even more exhilarating and rare.

For Manchester United's supporters in Dublin tonight, that sensation was supplied by a player who was barely known outside his native Mexico when his signing was announced in April. Everything we have seen of Javier Hernández since then points to a man of exquisite gifts inside the penalty area, one who is quickly demonstrating why Sir Alex Ferguson believes, post-World Cup, that his true valuation could be three or four times the £8m that Chivas received for him.

He had scored within 90 seconds of being introduced, a half-time substitute in a 7-1 win against an Airtricity League XI. It was a rasping, instinctive, first-time shot and the ball was still rising as it hit the back of the net. OK, it was only a pre-season friendly but it was still a stunning finish, the highlight of an evening in which Wayne Rooney played his first 45 minutes since the World Cup but could not soothe his own confidence by being among United's scorers.

They were here to mark the opening of the Aviva stadium, a shiny £340m monument standing resplendent on the site of the old Lansdowne Road, as different from its predecessor as an exotic flower is to a dried weed. United are the best-supported team in Ireland and, apart from Michael Carrick limping off with an ankle injury and Rooney's occasional rustiness, it represented a satisfying evening's work for the deposed champions and the majority of a near-50,000 crowd. The fit-again Michael Owen looked sharp, scoring a clever goal, and Antonio Valencia was also back in the team ahead of schedule.

Park Ji-sung accounted for two of the goals, while Valencia, Jonny Evans and Nani, with a late penalty, were also on target. But the evening will be remembered mostly for Hernández's contribution, and the impression that Ferguson has identified the problem of United being too reliant on Rooney and discovered a player with the gifts to do something about it. "That was the goal of the night," Ferguson said. "No drawback at all, absolutely fantastic."

As for Rooney, his carelessness in front of goal can be excused in part by the fact he had returned to training only a week ago. This was the first time we had seen him on a football pitch since that epic Sunday in Bloemfontein 39 days ago when Germany dismantled England and a player whose talent had been compared to Pelé and Maradona made his departure amid a welter of statistics to damn his performances.

The most alarming part of what happened to Rooney in South Africa was not that he was so peripheral, but that he did not seem to have the wit or gumption to do anything about it. Maybe it was his struggle with fitness, or maybe the weight of expectation pinning him down. All we can say for certain is that a goal can have therapeutic effects for a centre-forward and the next one of Rooney's career might act as a release to some of that pent-up frustration.

But he could not oblige here and, in the process, there were times when the man who scored 34 times for United last season seemed to have temporarily misplaced his sureness of touch. One chance was screwed wide with his left foot, a much easier one was turned over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

"He's had only six days and it's not enough," Ferguson sympathised. "I will have to play him against Chelsea [in the Community Shield on Sunday] to bring him on for the Newcastle game [United's first Premier League match]." Asked about the recent photographs of Rooney smoking a cigarette and urinating in the street, he delivered his stock phrase – "I'm not getting into that" – but then the subject returned to Hernández and his eyes lit up. "He's a young striker and he is exciting me very much."

Chicharito's proving quite worthy to the Man U. I hope he gets to play some time against Chelsea next Sunday.

Regarding the Mexico vs. Spain friendly next week, no current Chivas' players were called. Thank God; they got their eyes on bigger fish.

It's kinda different since H&G are indebted to RBS, any bidders can go straight to them and miss out the obstacle of negotiation. SImply put, H&G won't get anywhere near their £400m asking price, no matter how many surprise bidders show up.

Yep. Hicks & Gillett are on a 5 man board along with Ian Ayre, Purslow (Liverpool supporters) and the chairman Martin Broughton. RBS are forcing the sale, and Broughton with Barclays Capital are heading it. They'll elect the preferred bidder soon, and then a 3-man majority would see H&G out, whether they like it or not.

@ Liverpool fans - How would you feel at this point being part-owned by China?

If the deal happens, it means Liverpool becomes an even richer club than Man City, with owners eager to become #1.
