The only problem is that Star Wars trailers are completely not indicative of the final product. In fact, the better the trailer, the worse the movie.

It is technically impossible to fuck up this movie - you just can't do it.

People said that about Episode II.

And Episode I as well.

Despite my dissapointment in Ep. I and II though I still respect Lucas a lot.

He's given us the Star Wars OT, Indiana Jones, American Grafitti, and THX 1138, all of which I think are brilliant.

I still think Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever, even despite the ill-fated return to the Washington Wizards as a 40 year-old.

I think EP3 is going to be looked upon favorly. At this point, I think most fans are just looking for people getting their limbs dismembered and shit blowing up. From the looks of the trailer, it's going to provide that in spades.

It would be stupid to say that about Episode II - it was still mid story. Episode III is it, there is nothing left and a crap load of story to cover. The entire republic has to fall, the civil war has to end, the Jedi have to be butchered, the love story has to end - badly. Everything must be shown now as there is no room for anything else, no delays or saving anything for another time :)

You mean, the two seasons where he averaged around 20 points a game near age 40 (far better average than other players his age throughout league history) and still was better than 80% of the players in the league? :D I know he wasn't quite what he was with the Bulls, and they didn't make the playoffs and such.. but he still kicked some ass, which was amazing at his age.

This is definitely Yoda's "oh shit" face.

People said that about Episode II.

Like I've said in other threads, a LOT of the bad shit from EP:1 and 2 were leaked very early; Jar-Jar, Jake Lloyd's crappy acting and the completely atrocious love story were detailed quite ahead of release. For this one, there has been almost no negativity; and especially with Lucas taking strides in the script (getting Darabont to help out) plus an acting coach (dude who helped out with Virgin Suicides) this one will hopefully deliver.

Cautious optimism... still standing by it. :)

Well, and it must of paid off for them to be confident enough to fucking open Cannes with it.

The only negativity I've heard is that Grevious isn't what people were expecting. Most people are expecting him to be this ultimate bad ass, when he's a slimy movie villain with over the top lines. Lucas described him as "Dracula Droid" to the people working on him.

Seriously? My interest in Grevious just went UP.

Not an exact quote, but one of his first lines is something like:
"I hate to leave so quickly, but I have an appointment with an escape pod and you have an appointment with death. Hahahaha!"

Oh boy...

"I hate to leave so quickly, but I have an appointment with an escape pod and you have an appointment with .... (sees Padme) well, helllllllo, what have we here? Why don't you hop into my escape pod and we go down together?"

Seriously though having a young Lando Carlissian hitting on Padme would put this movie over the top.

Jar Jar 2.0?

PS like my new avatar? :D Anyone else want one? Kinda bored right now.

Hah, that's awesome. If the voice and delivery are right, Grevious could be really, really cool. Or it could be too corny by even Star Wars standards, but whatever, all I'm looking for is fun from this one. If it's fun and has a few shiver-inducing moments of epic tragedy, I'll be more than happy.

I tried but it was really dark and when I shrunk it down to GAF limits it was unrecognizable. So I cut out the troopers. If you'd like something else, I'm game.

Eh, it was a joke. Not referring to something that happens in the movie.

It's pretty like the other prequels were but it still looks shitacular as a movie. The dialog and emotion for every damn line is the exact same. I don't know how to describe it but its like all these actors talkas if they know they are in an epic movie. So they all talk "epicly" it makes for some pretty bland dialong and delivery.

Did we watch the same trailer?

I think Tivo cut off the last thirty seconds or so.

While watching it, there's a part of my brain saying, "you should be really excited about this." Alas, I'm just not feeling it. Maybe I'm over Star Wars.

How the hell do I download the trailer from Hyperspace? There are no direct links, the trailer is intergrated into IE.

My sister taped it for me. Fucking awesome. This movie is gonna kick all kinds of ass.

"YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!" = Goosebumps. :D

He is. He is fighting Obi Wan for a split second about halfway in

Edit : about 1:53

You can also see Grievous (granted not as clearly) at around the 1:18 mark. It's the shot with Obi Wan surrounded by Federation Droids, SuperDroids and standing in front of Obi Wan is Grievous along with 4 Magna Guards while on the planet, Utapau.

I turned over for the last 10 mins of the OC and was not disappointed! :) The Trailer is excellent. It shows lots of intrique and action, while delivering on the Star Wars feeling that has been missing at times in the first two films of the prequels.

Some cool things that I caught: One scene shows what appears to be the Corellian Corvette that Princess Leia was fleeing in during the opening of A New Hope.

The space battle over Corescant looks amazing. Seems like it dwarfs the Battle of Endor by a factor of 10. Tons of ships, which by the way, are starting to show their resemblence to the TIE fighters, X-Wings, Star Destroyers, etc. that were in the OT.

Anakin looks cool as hell. The scar on his eye and longer hair and the brooding look give him a bad ass look that you would expect out of the Man Who Would Be Vader.

Seeing the Jedi Temple in flames, and watching Anakin lead the troopers in to kill the Jedi was amazing. Someone mentioned that they don't want to see the Clone Troopers kill off Jedi, but I'd buy it simple by pure numbers. the Clones are going to out number the Jedi 10 to 1. Maybe more.

It's simply going to be incredble to see Palpatine go to work on the Jedi. He doesn't even seem phased by the fact that four have come to arrest him. You know that he's going to own them all. We know Yoda survives, but something tells me it's by the skin of his teeth, and that he's more then met his match.

One other comment on the whole Spielberg, Director's Guild, Credits thing. Didn't the Indiana Jones films open without credits? I know when they've been re-cut for TV they have the credits at the beginning, but I recall watching them in the theaters without the credits at the beginning. Each of them were directed by Spielberg.

That was bad ass. And unlike everyone here seemed to, I didn't waste a second on the OC. I actually forgot and looked at my clock. I turned the tv on, clicked Fox and the green preview sign went up. Bad ass trailer. And I actually bet Obi Wan is going to be one hell of a bad ass in this movie. Anakin/Darth Vader looks amazing though, as does Palpatine and Yoda. Can't wait. I actually enjoyed Episode II in theaters. The dialogue didn't hit me as bad until I rewatched it. But this one seems like there's no dialogue so it should be good for many many rewatchings. The trailer is anyway :D

Will this one finally get a PG13 rating or will Lucas squeeze out a PG rating yet again?

Were any of the star wars films over PG?

No Star Wars film has ever been rated PG-13, no. However, Lucas does expect a PG-13 rating for EP3.

Yes, it is the tantive IV

I agree.. there is also one shot in the trailer where it looks like they use the shakey cam effect from BSG.

Maybe more.
For the record, that was not anakin leading the clones but Darth Vader. If the movie succeeds in one area, I hope and pray it will be in convincing people that Darth Vader was born and Anakin died long before the suit was ever worn.

The look of contempt and hatred on palpatine's face when he says "Are you threatening me master windu?" OMFG.. That is one of my favorite shots of the trailer. anyone who says there is little emotion in the acting has to look at that scene.. pure gold.

Raiders I know had at least Ford, Producer, Director, and production I think at the beginning of it. Can't think of the other ones but I can picture Raiders and know that while the credits at the beginning were sparse, it still was not creditless like Star Wars.
