It just totally hit me that Grievous was nowhere in the trailer. Guess his actual in motion movie form will be kept under wraps until the movie hits theaters.

can anyone tell me what program to use to sync the sound with the video? the video quality is amazing but I'd rather watch the trailer with audio in sync.

are you talking about mine? You can use Media Player Classic to sync it. I think I included a text file, maybe?

He is. He is fighting Obi Wan for a split second about halfway in

Edit : about 1:53

I don't care. He's got me. He's sucked me in. I'm along for the ride, and I can only hope for the best.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, I must be a Star Wars fan.

Star Wars, I give you permission to break my heart all over again. I am an idiot, and a sweet, sweet trailer has once again caused me to totally forget how mediocre-at-best you've been the last few years. I've even blocked out how cringe-inducingly bad the Anakin/Padme relationship was and how every line of dialoge between them made me try to stuff popcorn in my ears to block out the badness.

Come home, Star Wars, I've cooked your favourite dinner and all is forgiven. I know you won't let me down again.

Hey, at least I've kept my vow not to buy the OT DVDs. :P

I don't own AOTC either.

Looks awesome. Still worry about Hayden Christensen as Anakin.

I really think that Lucas chose him more for what he's gonna do in EP:3 rather that what he did in EP:2. Even from the trailer, he sounds less whiny and angsty, and more mature i.e. the way he says "Obi-Wan and the council don't trust me" sounds a lot better than his "It's all Obi-Wan's fault!" similarly phrased line from EP:2.

Mace is pretty much the only Jedi that doesn't go down like a bitch.

Hey! Don't reveal any spoilers please, I had high hopes that most of the Jedi will put up a strong fight and not get immediately slashed!

The SW trailers may be deceiving but, well, the footage there excites me I'm sure there will be some satisfaction to grasp. Anticipation for these types of movies are half the fun...
Oh, did I just see a snippet of what appears to be Dooku vs. Anakin in the Emperor's Throne Room? Holy shit, I had always dreamed of such a scenario..
Ian McDiarmid will own this movie.

I remember hearing the Spielberg asked Lucas if he could direct Episode 3, but Lucas refused. How I wish he'd said yes. I wouldn't be so hesitant to get my hopes up.

Cool looking trailer though.

How do you do it in Media Player, I can't find it.

Also, I wanted to re-encode it to watch on my PSP and wanted the sound to be in sync before encoding. I know it's possible to put the 2 in sync, I just don't know which program to use.

Ian McDiarmid will own this movie. And I expect to see lots of GREAT WAR SHOTS. There has not been a space battle in these prequels yet (The Seismic charges were very cool though)

Totally agree with you about Sidious. He will steal the show.

Mana's gone over this before, I believe. It has more to do with the fact that Spielberg would get kicked out of the director's guild if he did Star Wars, since Lucas is on their bad list ever since refusing to put opening credits into the movies.

That's one crazy trailer, so damn dark moments, it's going to be a pain to see some of those scenes finally play out. Regardless of how the quality of the films turns out to be, I do think it'll stand out though, none of the other films compare at all in terms of all these dark and grim situations. So much death and destruction in this one.

and after seeing the trailer I have this to say once again..

many people are complaining that vader isn't in the film. that he only gets limited screen time (I don't really think this is a spoiler.. it has been talked about extensively on the net and by lucas himself). well, for my money and what I know and seeing these shots setup, Lucas once again did it.. he didn't listen to what we wanted but instead gave us what we needed. vader IS the man, not the suit. vader at the top of his game isn't some quadraplegic cyborg needing a suit to live. vader is a twentysomething jedi in the prime of his abilities who is more powerful than virtually any single jedi... christiansen is vader and lucas has made me a believer... OT vader will always be the man but god damn if PT vader doesn't look like he will be nipoping at OT vader's heels for the crown for all of eternity..

man.. that shot of vader walking into the temple to wipe them all out.............. freaking tremors up my spine.. just nuts.

Yeah the scene of Padme losing it apeshit style; can only imagine what that is in reference to.

films, even to this day, are required to have credits play before the film (animation doesn't count). if a director doesn't have credits before a film he risks getting booted from the director's guild. once a director is booted from the director's guild (or leaves) there is all sorts of weirdness involved in making new films for certain studios.

basically at this point it is in spielberg's best interest to remain in the DGA. if he did star wars he would be forced to leave or put credits at the beginning.. or roughly sometyhing like that.

The first time the rough cut was screened, most people were crying during the last ten minutes. I won't post the spoiler, but there is a scene there more dramatic than anything in all six movies.

As for Spielberg, yes. Lucas wanted David Lynch to direct Return of the Jedi. When Lynch decided to do Dune instead, Lucas considered Spielberg. But the whole annoying Director's Guild thing came up in regards to the lack of opening credits and Spielberg couldn't do it.

The same problem popped up with the Prequels, which is ONE of the reasons why Lucas decided to do all three himself. But, the "Making of" Episode III book discusses how Lucas gave Spielberg several scenes to play with in animatic form.

Agreed. Now somebody make an animated gif of that scene.

not every movie has credits in the front though..in fact a whole lot don't.

There's a minumum that the Director's Guild requires. I THINK it's three (studio, production company, one other) not sure. Also, not every movie is directed by a director who is in the Director's Guild (Like the Star Wars movies).

Wow, that's lame.

exactly.. and there are actually a number of directors no longer with the guild (lucas, rodriguez, etc).

but basically you can't make a star wars movie formatted how it is and be in the director's guild.. search the web for it.. that was the big thing where lucas left the guild because he wouldn't change the first movie to fit with what they wanted. much like how rodriguez left when he couldn't list frank miller as a director for sin city. and for the types of troubles that causes, Paramount had to basically drop rodriguez as director of Princess of Mars because they needed a guild director doing the pic.

I will officially send tons of hate mail to Star Wars.com because I paid 40 bucks for this shit and I can't find NO FUCKIN links on the site for the trailer.

I hope they die.

The only problem is that Star Wars trailers are completely not indicative of the final product. In fact, the better the trailer, the worse the movie.

Trailers are rarely accurate summations of a movie's quality, but still, it doesn't hurt to get excited over this one. This'll be the last time we Lucas-abused and generally jaded Star Wars fanboys can really get psyched. And who knows, it may very well be a decent movie...it could...hey, stop snickering.

With Speilberg and Frank Darabount doing uncredited work behind the scenes along with using the Virgin Suicides acting coach; it could be very good.

I'm bloody stoked especially after seeing the trailer for the Clone Wars season 3 today as well. Guess I'm gonna be buying the new book too, Labyrinth of Evil.

Holy Crap! The Local 4 Detroit News just wrapped up 3 minutes early so they could broadcast the trailer in full :lol

Ewan McGregor is also on Leno tonight.

The trailer goes up 9pm PST which is in less than 20 minutes.

Sounds like total hogwash to me. I could probably think of a dozen movies that don't have an opening credit sequence (besides maybe a title card). Everyone that made those is blacklisted from the director's guild?

Either that, they got a huge ass fine, or they weren't in the the guild at all.

This is also discussed on the documentary on the Star Wars DVDs. The guild let Lucas slide for A New Hope's lack of credits, but when he did it again for Empire they fined Fox so much the current head of the studio was basically kicked out.

Fox wanted the Clone Wars series. Guess who got it?

Uh, no. CN had the correct format for the show. Fox wanted a full length show, they didn't have the capacity to deal with irregular length shows.

I've watched the trailer three times now. Good stuff.

May 19th seems so far away. This, Sin City, and Batman Begins should make for a great year in films.

so true, so true. :)

if it looks this good on the small screen, imagine the trailer on a big screen :D
