PDZ Shots

and the barrel next to the giant is stretched. It looks more like a test shot than anything else., and something like that should not be released to the public.

bad art

Anybody defending this shot is either blind or dense. Textures, aliasing, polycounts on the left arch - all are abysmall.

I remember the doctored Halo 1 shots, that was really impressive back then. Couldn't they doctor these as well?

It's another bait & switch for the when the footage is released (maybe...).

Moaners, moaners!!

Most of you are always not satisfy. I am sure that the final work will blow your head off.
And beside still pictures do not justice the real thing (in motion).

Yeah yeah. The picture doesn't (compete) with the highend PC, but so what . Most of the peoples are coming from the low-res ingaming pictures. I prefer playing game at the sofa.

This game is bought.

I do also own Far cry instinct (xbox)--the gfx is great but no where near the quality of PDZ.

How many year is PGR3 in the make??
Yes more years then PDZ for sure.

I'd like to see some direct-feed video too, because screenshots really often don't do a good job of showing off what a game can do. But... I kinda like the style. It's comic book! :D

Have you played Timesplitters3?

A decent amount of Deathmatch yes I have. Are you asking wether I think TS has good art or not or are you drawing comparisons between TS3 and PDZ's character art?

How come there's no AA on these screens? Shouldn't at least 2x AA be basically free on Xenos? Or are these screens still from some old devkit?

Those videos released show that the game still has ways to go when it comes to character animation. The enemy deaths looked really bad, even when you compare it to some games from this gen, like RE4.

Because TS3 has midget's.

I read you get either great special effects or antialiasing...and that parallax mapping sure is a great effect

I think the strafing guy is normal size while the double Revolver holding Gargantunaut (who seems to be shooting at that explosion) looks to be the biggest offender. Might be a story spoiler who knows.

This is a subject of much debate right now. Nothing is really free. There is no one figure to quantify the hit in performance that 2xAA will bring - it'll vary from game to game. Xenos removes the classic issue in AA performance - bandwidth - but introduces a couple of others along the way (not such that it outweighs the bandwidth gains, but there are still issues to consider, that may affect you more or less depending on your game).

Even a small hit could be critical, especially in games that need to be finished ASAP.

That said, apparently MS isn't insisting on 2xAA as a minimum, rather "a form of AA". And apparently things like depth-of-field and motion blur may qualify, but there's not quite confirmation of that, I don't think. Maybe element could clarify?

Anyway, these shots are less than impressive, but hopefully we'll get some video soon.

Screens don't look that hot,but I mean the vids that were leaked looked awesome,so why worry? :P

Because the vids were tiny and poor quality. It was very difficult to make out all the imperfections like u can with proper size pics.

Btw small pics from magazine scans also looked good because they hid all the detail that is revealed in those shots: low poly geometry in the levels, overdone lens flare (reminds me of n64 perfect dark, but in those days lens flare was impressive.) poor shadows, some enemies have no shadows cast.

I just hope these shots are a distraction to wow us with the actual screens when x05 gets underway. Otherwise there is no hope for pdz...

No, I don't think so, it's a fact. Compare it to a REAL next-generation game. I hope you are able to see the difference.

This thread just got interesting.

:lol

Interesting stuff. If this game uses HDR it's another thing that could be taking it's toll. I know Xenos is technically capable of doing MSAA on HDR, bit I wonder how pratical that is in terms of performance hit (I mean, other chips also can do AA on HDR if they must, through supersampling but I don't know how often we'll be seeing that) Heh, to think all the users of regular TVs will be getting free AA regardless of game, just through 720p->480i scaling!

PDZ doesnt look that bad. Its not impressing me but niether is it last gen ugly. Kameo looks fine. PDZ has cool parallex mapping and stuff.

Which means they can deliver crappy graphics? Don't think so. Develop a little longer if you must.

Wasn't PDZ in development since N64? Or was that only Kameo?

The video showed the game to look considerbly better than these screens, which explains why most of us are not worried and await the videos before passing judgement. Some screens looks fantastic due to its scope, others look underwhelming.

We'll know for sure later on

Whats so bad about the over the top ragdoll physics. One of the best parts of goldeneye was being able to shoot people in certian areas and watch their reactions. They just took it to the next level.

Too many games have ragdoll. It would be nice if they made some cool next gen hit detection system like GE did for its time.

And what are these couple of other things?

*QUESTION TO GAF* Do you fucking care about the textures when you're getting shot by 5-10 guys on the screen with massive explosions?

I'm just curious because in most games, you don't hit pause and take a look at the wall textures to figure out if they were installed by Home Depot or Lowes. :lol

I mean seriously, get over it!

There was a really good thread about those "issues" on beyond3d forum. I don't pretend to understand a lot about it, but it was still interesting. Most launch games will apparently use either DoF or AA, not both.

well considering every object in the environment has textures on them, id say its pretty hard to miss em.

I know when i play games im not just staring at explosions.

So you're the one guy who pauses the game and looks at the walls. Wow. Gaming HAS come a long way. :D
