People receiving damaged copies Of TLOU remake from Sony.

This is embarrassing if true. Sony cheaped out on shipping and now this story will only continue to gain more traction. Imagine being the doofus who made the call to ship the highly limited prestige title to die-hard fans in bubble mailers just to save a quick buck.

Looks like Sony cheaped out and used padded envelopes so small and tight, it ruins the game box. lol

I've got my share of disc games delivered years back before I went digital, but the envelopes Best Buy or Amazon would use are plenty big enough for a plastic case.

Also, it looks like the Firelfy edition s a cardboard box, whereas standard games come in shrinkwrapped plastic cases (more durable). So you'd think they'd take extra care to ship them more carefully.

I love how the envelope is so tight, the mail room dudes jam in the game so tightly, the glue on the fold even gets on it. lol

They surely care about their fans.

A lot of care went into that packaging choice..... literally glued the envelope to the box because the envelopes weren't big enough. Foook

Do we need a thread for each TLOU news ?

I don't understand. Is there a way to buy physical games directly from Sony ?!
Aren't those special editions being sold in videogame stores?

Legit asking, haven't been in one of those for years. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I spent 2 hours driving around like an idiot searching for regular edition. This game... and ps5 games in general are barely sold as physical

What's even funnier is the OP"s article says Sony is refusing refunds.

If anyone buys a game from a store and wants a refund, you get one as long as you dont open the package. So if any gamer got a rotten crumpled box but it is still sealed (which you can see in the pics), it should qualify for a refund.

Probably the only company in the world that doesn't take back a sealed game for a refund. Even mom and pop shops back in the day will take it back as long as you dont open it.

The article also says this:

"There's no replacements," complained one user(opens in new tab) on the game's subreddit community. "They're giving bullshit 20% off another game on their store. So essentially thanks for spending money! Now spend more money!"

The fact that the Firefly Edition was a PlayStation Direct exclusive has further compounded the issue, with some players saying that they'd rather have picked up the expensive collector's edition from a store than have had it arrive damaged in the post.

As yet, neither Naughty Dog nor Sony itself have commented on the issue.

Well that sucks. I'd expect more physical copies on stores specially for a highly marketed exclusive title.

Not Sony's fault ofc, shit sucks and I blame online stores for this. They should take more (full) responsibility for the delivery.

Everything is skewing digital. console makers want less stock on shelf and more people buying digital so they bank the full amount.

Digital is around 75% of sales I think. At some point, they are hoping gamers like you will convert and do a download!

this fucking sucks ass.
I don't want digital and to be depended on digital... for many reasons.
console was the last place to be physical.

Yesterday I went to redeem Sony rewards points for the first time in a while. I usually get like $10 in points every 6 months or so. Anyway, I check the app and I only had a measly 27 pts ..so I emailed Sony to find out where all my points are only to find out you can only get points if you buy stuff with the Sony rewards credit card. Apparently it's been this way since March '22.

To me this is just an unnecessary change that while not the biggest deal in the world it feels like another "fuck you" from Sony.

Since Jim Ryan's been in charge there have been a lot of shitty changes and nickel and diming of their loyal customers. The$10 increase for the same game as what ps4 players get (3d audio and dual sense are small things that don't justify it imo), the cross gen period going on way to long which doesn't honor people who upgraded to ps5 (God of war ragnarok being cross gen is a sham), lying about next gen exclusivity to make ps5 more enticing only to change their minds like gt7 (it was advertised as a ps5 exclusive for a long time), charging money for Uncharted 4 remaster and ghost of tsushima upgrades , charging full price for LoU remake to people who've bought that game twice.

Now recently they're raising the price of ps5 and not offering refunds on Remake due to their faulty packaging. It's crazy. There was also that controversy with Forbidden West where even though they initially promised it would be $60, they charged $70 on the store and when people complained so much that they had to reverse that decision they STILL didn't change the price on the store (you had to buy it physically or from their website)!

There's just a lot of little things that have added up over the last 2 years to where I started to resent this company.

This is when IF you never ever had given Sony your name in relation to your PSN account in any way, shape or form (name, email etc) would have been nice.

Cancel credit-card purchase/payment.

I thought PSdirect orders come wrapped in Playstation theme paper like this

Weird how they didn't get that🤔

Edit: this was a reply to the deleted thread with Pictures of the game just wrapped ripped jiffy bag with no bubble wrap inlay
Not what's shown in the OP here.

We already know they're offering refunds.
Hm. I could have sworn there was a thread about Sony not offering refunds but mods seems to have thrown the thread into orbit without any correction.

Where did you read they offer refunds?

Literally in the OP.
Ah yeah found it thanks.

Won't they ever print new editions since they can't offer a new one though?

I know it's limited, but they don't have to burn them like a crypto token like this.

Looks like Sony made enough copies to sell only. Not hold back any for refunds/exchanges due to damages.

What people dont know is when stuff is physically sold out at a store, the store/company will often hold back some stock in the back room in case a customer brings back a bad one. Then the store switches it making the customer happy and the store returns the defective product back to the supplier for a credit.

At least Sony seems to be offering a straight refund. Too bad there's no copies left to swap for bad ones. lol

I bought some Amiibos from GameStop and what I got was an empty box. The first thought that came to my mind was some jealous incel at the shipping factory putting items into boxes for themselves.

Sad thing is even that barely covers half of Sony's bs

Ok? Currier issue, hardly Sony's fault. If Sony have only printed a limited amount it's not like they can ask the factory to do a few more because some have been damaged in transit.
Yup, absolutely.

They've offered a full refund, you can't say fairer than that.

So, does the consumer gotta send the product back for a refund or Sony is just giving them their money back, but they get to keep the fucked up boxart as a sign of goodwill?

Why do you drive arround for this? There's a thing called Internet where you can order things you know?? They even sell physical copies of games there.

I didn't preorder because I was not sure I want to get this.
But it's not a problem... I always just go to the nearest media markt 5 minutes away and grab it. NOPE.
Somehow very little discs this time.

But no biggie. I grabbed a buddy and we were driving around, eating and hanging out. It was a good time anyway haha

"Normally, you would think this would have been easily solved by contacting PlayStation's customer service and sorting it out, but as almost everyone affected could report, Sony was not interested in neither a replacement or, in many reported cases, even a refund (some claim to have succeeded in getting this though after putting in extra effort with the support). Instead, Sony offered people a 20% discount on their next purchase, which means they have to buy more things from the store that delivered damaged goods to get some compensation. Or as a Reddit user puts it:

"There's no replacements. They're giving bullshit 20% off another game on their store. So essentially thanks for spending money! Now spend more money!"

On Twitter, a video game journalist who also got a wrecked Firefly Edition writes:

"Stay tuned - this is obviously widespread and the support I'm getting from PS is atrocious.

UPDATE: After nearly 45 mins and two separate chats with support, there is no option for replacement. I've been offered a 20% voucher on a future game order. And I can return this if I want. 🙃"
