I think Turn 10 made the engine and cars for Playground. Not sure though. Guess we'll see about how Horizon isn't affected. The only game I enjoyed was Forza Horizon 5 ( not affected )
I doubt they expected a multi-million dollar seller…I know that is something sounds way unreasonable. but seriously, who at the management looked at grounded or avowed and said to himself self yup this is a multi-million dollar seller right there?
Yeah well if that's how it works then they need to do the same way. Move people around between projects. Don't sack them!I am in front-end and back-end development projects. When the project I am working on is done ( for whatever reason, end of contract, short project, timed project, etc ), I get moved to a new project. I don't get fired ( unless I did a shit job ).
Sounds like that trailer may have been "faked gameplay", which sucks because it looked fleshed out and competent (at least with clear mechanics of combat and traversal)The game must have been a Redfall level of bad for it to be canned.
The trailer looked dmn good as well.
FFS. I think this might be the first cancellation that I cared about.
If Spencer has even the slightest clue what kind of games gamers and MS fans want to see he would just never have greenlit those games in the first place
Couldnt be any happier I sold my Ex-Box.
I think we're in a tough time for video games. Now, only Playstation and Nintendo dominate the market.
I hope Sega or even XBOX make a comeback, because the industry doesn't look good.
this's aged beautifully:
Nintendo won't do anything with it, the IP is dead. Nintendo has Metroid and they can do a spy novel sim spin off of it Metroid: Samus' Sister SnakeEyesJust sell the IP to Nintendo, a company that actually gives a fuck.

I don't think that's true. Microsoft just has bad management for the Xbox "brand" and studios.I wrote a comment on this a couple days back; I don't know why so many people clutch their pearls when, for most of the gaming industry history it's been clear a third player is never competitive.
Sega spiraled into irrelevance once Sony entered the market. Xbox was only "competitive" for the front half of one generation and that was largely because Sony fumbled the ball with the PS3 launch.
Xbox hasn't been "competition" for Sony or Nintendo since 2008/2009. The only reason Xbox didn't go the way of Sega sooner was due to Microsoft's deep pockets.
Part of the reason why "the industry doesn't look good" is because Microsoft realized they would never be able to complete, so they decided to use their thick wallet to consolidate the industry.
yep. take the money &Wow a group of low energy people talking about how great everything is but without any real excitement, I get the idea they treated this as their retirement gig and it's not surprising they never made anhything.
I doubt they even tried.
Fuck, he's doubling down on this
Can't believe this fanboy is gaming "journalist"
As some of us thought, apparently the showcase trailer was not real.
Yup, Its not going to die its just evolving into something us older gamers don't care about.oh come on. I honestly blame the younger generation, the only thing gamer kids want is to dab on their homies in fortnite type games. I wanted everwild so bad. Gaming is going to die a horrible slow death as microtransaction multiplayer games take over.

They already did that, Crystal Dynamics has been on this for several years. And yes they should give the IP to them or at least contract them to finalize it. It looked almost finished!Don't care about making it happen? Then let others do it for you! Fuckin' morons!

This is good though, it means the games made for the audience that includes you cannot afford to be corporate slop, they have to actually appeal to you in order to make money.Yup, Its not going to die its just evolving into something us older gamers don't care about.
The truth is always in the numbers, games like Roblox and Fortnite make in 1 month what takes a single player AAA game like the Last of us or God of War to make in 6 months.
The younger generation don't care about the tech in games, graphics, consoles, story, etc. they just want to play something as background noise to socialize with their friends. This is why the MP/Live service games do so well. Most of them don't barely even have the attention span to play a single player game.
Every now and then they will make games that is gear to our audience but its going to be few and far between. This has been happened since this new console gen IMO.
It all sucks but its the truth ....

I have been calling these "lobby games" as a pejorative. I've stopped short of calling much of the PC space "lobby gamers" but here's why I don't like it.Yup, Its not going to die its just evolving into something us older gamers don't care about.
