Day 1: Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan appears on CNBC. Game Boy Micro's release window unveiled!
Perrin Kaplan spoke around 1:10 PM EST today with CNBC's Bill Griffeth. She first showed off Nintendo's new Game Boy Micro. It became apparent how small it really is when she held it up. She confirmed a release for the GBM in late summer or early fall. Kaplan compared the Revolution to a Ferrari, both in power and the sleek form factor.

When pressed as to why Nintendo didn't show more on the Revolution at their press conference, she explained that Nintendo remains "...the last company to truly put games first..Nintendo will still stick to innovation. That's been our main focus and has rewarded us every time."

The reporter questioned her on the aging demographic and how that affects their current stable of franchises. Kaplan made it clear that she believes that these are lifelong franchises that grow with the gamers and that the "kiddie" stigma Nintendo holds is unfair.

Christ, from now on I won't even bother with this woman. Like I said the best bullshitters in the business. One year from now...we'll finally know....and it deffinitely won't be from her. Why does the press still go to this woman? She never says anything!

Will they shut up about the innovation? They haven't done anything close to innovative in a long time. I'd say since 1996 with Super Mario 64 and the Rumble Pak.

The DS isn't innovative?

That's a complete non-answer. Sounds like she's qualified to be President of the United States!

They put games first yet failed to show any content for Revolution.

Innovations in logic!

:lol

That's a great answer. I'm surprised she didn't just say, "because children are the future."

Wavebird? arent all consoles wireless now?
Perfecting the analog stick? Dont all consoles now have shoulder buttons?
Metroid Prime isnt innovative?
Arent sony and Nintendo using a royalty model similar to the one Nintendo pioneered?

It depends on how you define innovative. If you mean forward thinking and ahead of the times (like most people will choose to follow you), no. If you mean original, sure, in a gimmicky, crappy 3D sort of way.

edit:

Wavebird? arent all consoles wireless now?

That's a good one. It isn't new at all but it fits.

I think it's quite obvious Nintendo have nothing to show on the Revolution. They don't want to show pre rendered games like Sony and they don't want to show unimpressive games running on alpha devkits like Microsoft.

I imagine all Nintendo reps at E3 have a GB Micro they can pull out and smile into the camera with each time a journalist inquires about the Revolution.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what that answer has in common with the question. I'm stumped.

I can only guess she means they didn't have any games to show and they saw no point in giving people technical data on the console since it's all about the games.

Or ... she's talking out her ass?

What the hell Kaplan. NO ONE ASKED ABOUT THAT

Kaplan would so get ripped apart if she ever posted on GAF.

I can easily see Mandark giving her a one post ultimatum to actually answer a question for a change.
