No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Well I bought and liked Gorillaz and especially Four Tet. Haven't heard any of the others.

Edit: Oh, I see Flying Lotus' brilliant Cosmogramma made the top 20 along with James Blake's EPs. I'm down with those too.

Pitchfork doesn't know rap/hip-hop I'm not surprised by any of these pick...In fact if I made a top 50 everyone would probably be more outraged...As there definitely wouldn't be any The National or The Walkmen anywhere near my top 50 nor 100. :lol

Edit: Oh and I think Cosmogramma is the most overrated album this year.

Weren't they the ones who were praising Titus Andronicus as the greatest band to ever land on the planet? Didn't they pretty much promote the shit out of them and really only them through Pitchfork concerts?

Man, their list beyond #9 must be really, super great - better than what they've actually listened too so they just put them there off of the hyperbole of the great internet.

Why does no one recognize this?!

Wow, Contra is so much higher than I thought it would be

ftr I probably have at least a third of those
Contra is way too high, and there about 5 albums in the bottom 50 that should be in the top 20 IMO.

Gil Scott-Heron is some 40 spots too low, Kanye shouldn't even be on the list, and where the fuck is Grinderman.

Major complaints done!

I have heard of all of them but 5. Hipster victory!
They aren't ridiculously obscure bands dude, at this point people are calling things hipster because they are too lazy to expand their musical horizons...It's ridiculous.

Because Pitchfork loves to troll any conscious, good hip hop. To be fair I'm not knocking their two highest picks - Kanye's album is obviously very good, and Big Boi's album is not only good but the best mastered/engineered/etc album of the year. But throughout the year Pitchfork gave laughably favoralbe reviews to shit from Gucci Mane, Wacka Flack Flame, etc while constantly 7-7.6ing anything that didn't feature party songs.

My AOTY is Have One On Me, so seeing it in their top 10 is cool. I ain't mad

Fuckin' ridiculous
I know that most of those bands are fairly well known within the Indie community, just trying to dilute the word hipster to the point where it is truly meaningless

#1 will probably be Arcade Fire - The Suburbs. Or at least in the top 5.

Complaining about anything hipster in a Pitchfork thread is like coming into an NBA thread and complaining about black people.

...Is this kosher, if I'm black?

Looks like there's a few albums to pick up, then its off to listen to 30-1 straight through in descending order. Introduced me to a lot of enjoyable music last year with only some crap (I just can't enjoy Antony and the Johnsons, among others, not my deal).

The only album worth a damn in that list is Titus Andronicus.

:-\

Still don't get the intense love for this one. I prefer The Airing of Grievances by a comfortable margin

If you like Titus Andronicus I don't know how you can hate on No Age and Abe Vigoda.

Edit: Oh and I agree with ATF about the album overall.
