Niantic are going to kill this game prematurely, not many people play as much and poke stops aren't being lured like they used to.

Local spots were still lured up at 1 am this morning. People are still out. But of course people are going to quit, happens with every game.

There was this park near my house that my buddy kept trying to get me to go to. I was like "eh, what's the big deal?" at first. I finally went and saw what he was talking about. It was the first place I encountered with like 10-15 pokestops close to each other and there were DOZENS of people walking around in the dark playing pokemon. It was kind of cool knowing that we were all there doing the same thing.

I kept going back, and all of the spots were almost always lured. Just went back on Friday, and it was practically deserted. No lures, barely anyone playing Pokemon. Now my friend doesn't even go there any more. Feels bad, man.

It's mostly kids and young teenagers playing it here now. But I do see lures here and there in Denmark. And I take advantage of that muahaha.

I'm still bitter that Growlithe escaped me today.

This is totally dependent on where you live. There is no way anyone from my area would hold a gym for days on end. It's far too easy to take them back.

The longest I've ever held a Gym is six hours. The longest I've seen a gym held by my house is a day. One time, during the middle of the day on a weekday I stopped in a parking lot to take this gym. I had to get out of my car to get in range to battle. By the time I got back to my car from taking it someone had already taken the Gym for themselves.

Banking on Gyms to give you Stardust at level 20 is a terrible idea if you live anywhere where this game is still actively played. Literally everyone I've played this game with just collects their 500 Stardust and 10 coins as soon as they take over a Gym because trying to stretch your Gym run into days is just going to lead to your Pokemon getting knocked out and you getting nothing.
I guess it's one of few benefits of small towns and this game. Once gyms get to level 7+ with nothing but 1500+CP pokemon, they can survive for days. There's one gym that's been controlled for probably a week by us Mystic players. Every now and then it goes down 1-2 levels but then you can just power it back up. Most gyms are more hotly contested but that usually comes down to people just taking it over and leaving it at lvl 3-4 which is just too easy to knock down.

The fact a lot of people are just cashing out at 1 gym means not everyone bothers leveling up gyms or bothers attacking difficult gyms instead of the easy lvl 3-4 ones.

Niantic are going to kill this game prematurely, not many people play as much and poke stops aren't being lured like they used to.
Could just be people running out of free lures and/or realizing sitting around lured stops suck compared to actively moving around and hatching eggs, battling gyms, finding more pokemon/minute and hitting more stops. Round here I see no decrease in player count or activity, but a bit less lured stops.

Enough candy to get Clefable and Gengar but my Clefairy is terrible and Gastly is around 75%.

Guess I'll wait, I usually evolved hatched Pokemon but I've never hatched either of these.

I agree with this, but this is entirely in line with the sort of changes they consistently make

Hell look at the recent gyrados changes. they literally fucked anyone who doesn't already have a gyrados with that move set

Again, punishing people who haven't sunk in the same amount of time as others
This is true. I'm disappointed as hell that I won't ever get the better Gyrados. That will be a lifetime advantage to players who didn't juggle work and family as I've had to. That said, if I had one and they took it away I'd been even more pissed. You can't win in these situations.

I have a 95% Gyrados with Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse. I'm actually really happy about it, because there are several great water Pokemon I have or can get with Hydro Pump, but there aren't many great Dragonite/dragon Pokemon counters.

Had tons of people at an area in buffalo last night called canal side with 8 poke stops lured for 3+ hours. Caught enough to get me to 180 magikarp candy, and evolve to poliwrath, starmie, slowbro and a few other water type pokemon.

But yes I think they won't do enough to sustain it in the long run.

edit: There were a couple of "oh crap, run over there" moments as well as a dratini popped and thena little later a dragonair popped as well.

Hydro Pump still does more damage against a Dragonite than Dragon Pulse though :p

From Reddit:

Gyarados' Hydro Pump vs. Dragonite, DPS is 23.7 * 1.25 * 0.8 = 23.7
Gyarados' Dragon Pulse vs. Dragonite, DPS is 18.1 * 1.25 = 22.625

what they do to Gyrados?

Yes it does.

Gyarados' Hydro Pump vs. Dragonite, DPS is 23.7 * 1.25 (STAB) * 0.8 (resistance) = 23.7
Gyarados' Dragon Pulse vs. Dragonite, DPS is 18.1 * 1.25 (super effective) = 22.625

So the damage is almost neglible, well that's not bad then. Especially if they ever get around to trying to balance things out.

I'm reading myself for my third mass evolve. Currently have 4 Pokemon ready and 1 new registration. I'm gonna grind like crazy.

I swear I'm also gonna catch a Growlithe soon!

All it does is punish anyone who didn't get to the higher levels already though.

I mean the damage has already been done...

Changing the Dratini spawn areas was already proof the devs don't care about legacy players having an insane advantage. Niantic has no clue how to balance this game properly.

Today's pickups:

Machop
Onyx
Omanyte

Also, were the droprates for 10k eggs raised? Been getting a lot of them lately. Too bad they all contained Pinsirs.

Hm so this is why I've been finding more Dratinis recently. Went from never having seen one to almost having enough candy for Dragonair.

I wish I could get a single Pinsir too...
They're a plague here. I'd gladly give you one.

The idea that Niantic migth suddenly make fatal adjustments to certain Pokemon is way more daunting to the idea of investing in a good IV pokemon than the actual cost in dust and candy :S

As people have been saying, it sure seems like the region exclusives are popping up more. I've seen 4 tauros in the past few days. Maybe this is setting up for a regional shift soon?

Dewgong spawned a block from my house. 5 berries and Ultra balls later he bolts.

Ah well, only need.to catch one more Seel to evolve into one anyway.

I finally found out why there are so many Drowzees here

The Drowzees are performing satanic rituals to turn other Pokémon into Drowzees!

Wow, Had a family dinner at a country club last night. Sat right between 2 pokestops all night. GPS went nuts indoors and ended up hatching about 12 eggs (1x10km,3x5km,6x2km) just sitting there catching mons.

Sadly only like 4 of the caught mons had high IV. I did miss a 1600+CP Magmar... Ran on first Ultra ball.

Porygon
Scyther
Clefairy x15
Lickitung
Growlithe x12
Venonat
Pidgeys x6
Rhyhorn
Evee
Pikachu
Ponyta
Meowth 100% IV (Evolved terrible moves)
Magikarp

Squirtle!!!!!!
Nidoran x4

Maybe you're taking it a bit too serious. Lifetime advantage of what? Slightly more effective gym battling? It's really not a big deal when we're not talking about a game with a big competitive scene. Maybe they'll implement real PvP sometime, but they could also easily create a way to change moves in exchange for stardust/candy.

I wonder how long Niantic's gonna wait to implement trading

I wonder if it'll reignite the craze
If they do, it should be local only. The craze is still going on imo. And is likely going to get a boost when Mewtwo and the legendary birds are introduced.

When trading gets implemented there will be somekinda of market where people sell perfect pokemons etc.
This Gyrados that will be very rare now will be very expensive.
So yes it will be huge adventage for those who got it.

I'm kinda burnt out on IV's after making having some trouble with pokeassistant and annonyance of burning so much dust on it.

what is the best way to tell if you are in the upper/lower parts of IV's at a glance? I don't want to use too much time on checking everything individually, so if I can tell at once what to transfer and what to be more thourogh with it would be great.
