So Obama called Sandra Fluke (the Georgetown Student who Limbaugh called a slut). Story was just elevated, seemingly Rush Limbaugh doubled down on his comments today.

Time for Media to ask GOP Candidates what they think about Rush's comments now...

Proper term is "tripled down", as this is the 3rd day in a row this has been her focus.

She will be helped by Obama being on the ballot for those too though.

Obama's pre-election 2010 speech didn't help Martha Coakley much. And this time, Obama has his own election to worry about.

Even for say the Hispanic/Brazilian male demographic: to many, the choice appears as between: some stuffy-looking, "bitchy" old white lady or some normal, sports-loving, former soldier white dude.

For independents, Brown is going to be trotting around with people like Curt Schilling and Tim Thomas, whom are more popular here than Obama.

Lets see the conservative media deflect while scorning and making inflammatory remarks. How DARE they try to make us play our own game?

Boehner called Rush's comments inappropriate. How long until Boehner is on Rush's show kissing his ass?

Since when has a single presidential speech ever mattered in a year in which the president wasn't running for re-election? I know you like to troll, but come on now, you're not making any sense. Obama wasn't running for re-election in 2010. Warren will be helped by Obama's coattails.

Obama has his own election to worry about, but not in MA.

Warren is making a mistake by switching to Social issues. Same as Santorum.

Not at all. It could only be bad if she made it the primary focus of the campaign. Calling Republicans out and hitting them back for their idiocy re: contraception is going to be key to increasing the margin of victory for Democrats come November (if the economy continues to rebound), both nationally and statewide.

Her economic message isn't going anywhere.

Per Rassmussen, Santorum's lead in Ohio is down to 2 points over Romney. Looks like the proverbial shit has hit the fan for Santorum...

Indeed, Santorum is really starting to circle the drain.

Democrat enthusiasm isn't exactly sky-high. This won't be 2008 coattails.

Plus, you have to remember that Mitt's going to have a home state bump that could offset any advantages Obama has going into November. Although it should be said that Mitt never had great approval ratings in the last few years of his term. They never got over 50 percent and sometimes dipped as low as 35.

I can't say I am myself, but congratulations man.

Congratulations...

...what is that job exactly? All wiki tells me is that you'll work in embassies and consulates.

Congrats. What was it like?

Thanks for the kind words!

The test itself wasn't too bad; outside of a single essay question, it was mostly multiple choice divided into three categories. Beyond random questions about well known historical events, Supreme Court cases, and the like, there was an entire section devoted to reading comprehension and grammar. There was also a sort of strange section that involved self-assessment of one's experience, attitudes, and capabilities (like "rate your inclination to follow a rigid schedule"). Outside of taking history and writing courses, I have no clue how people should prepare for this thing.

As for what the job will actually be (assuming that I make it through the personal interviews), all of the descriptions are pretty vague. I opted into the economic track, so any of the duties I have will involve representing the economic interests of the United States and working with officials from another country on things like trade agreements and economic development programs. I imagine that this would encompass things like data collection and analysis, meeting with other diplomats, and implementing various U.S policies. Thankfully, there will be a training program of sorts in D.C if I make it through the whole process.

The longer Rush pushes this, the harder it will be for the GOP to try to make this contraception debate about religious freedom. Well, they were failing on that mark already, but Rush is making it that much harder. Boehner calling Rush's comments inappropriate tells me he knows that, too.

You should read the whole book if you get a chance, it's fascinating.

I took a class with Professor Mettler a few years ago, it was great.
Yeah. The book is quite illuminating. And for those who have not read it, her guest post on TMC offers a concise explanation of her theory. Most assume she's ascribing this to the stupidity of Americans. She's not. Instead, there's a systematic bias towards opaque policies. Similar to the argument I've offered in the past regarding the PPACA, the public is typically unresponsive to multifaceted, complex policies with ambiguous causal mechanisms. It's similar to Arnold's theory of policy.
It can sometimes even out. Lots of seniors don't bother reupping their Driver's License, etc. when they stop driving. Pretty sure my dad doesn't have a valid driver's license where he is.
I'd be astounded if it ever evens out. At least, I'm unaware of any research indicating otherwise. Rather, impediments to voting disproportionately diminish turnout for minorities, the impecunious, and those with lower levels of education. Incidentally, those are groups traditionally disposed towards Democrats.

hopefully voter registration nonprofits and the DNC get on the ball with helping voters get IDs.

actually, these laws are only for in-person voting right? so they should just focus on getting minorities to send in absentee ballots.

I guess the GOP will win there then.

Voter suppression always disproportionately hurt minorities more. That's why the GOP has such a hard on about restrictive voter ID laws. Blacks and Hispanics are far less likely than whites to have the right kinds of ID.

So, being required to get private health insurance for simply being an American citizen is fine, but being required to have a photo ID to vote is pure evil?...

Man, the GOP is le fucked concerning the women's vote in the general election. What a bunch of childish clowns.

Send every registered voter a request form for a free ID. I read some states gave out free ID? Seems fine. Voter ID laws themselves are not pure evil, it's the not so hidden agenda behind them and the deliberate lack of measures to solve the problems that the laws could/can create which is the pure evil part.

Linked on Drudge, amazing.

We'll get the tapes in a week, I can't wait. If all this boogeyman shit didn't prevent Obama from getting elected, how the hell do they expect it to stop him now that he's already in office? I have a feeling this will just be used as a lightning rod against the media for not spending 24/7 on it
Do you really think he had such a tape? And if so surely he trusted other people to carry out his work if something happened to him.

But if such a tape exists, holy shit. October surprise imminent, and maybe a bit early? LOL. I'd freak out.

Yeah, I would have no problem with Voter ID laws if they were a free thing that every single person in the US got sent to them or had to get with little or no hassle after they reached a certain age.

Is that, "I would?"

You haven't been freaking out?

I really doubt the content of this video is worth being overly concerned about.

If this mystery tape was truly damaging, they would release it in October, not in freaking March where it will be a distant memory by election day. This is the 'whitey' tape all over again.

Maybe if that was the Mitt from 2006. But he has since morphed into the Mitt of 2012. I don't think Mass. is going to recognize their former governor, and he won't be getting that bump.

Wow. Way to win on policy there.

Man, the GOP is le fucked concerning the women's vote in the general election. What a bunch of childish clowns.
Limbaugh is digging a grave for the GOP with that issue.

Does Limbaugh not realize that this just isn't a 'feminazi' issue. Perhaps he does not realize that men like to have sex with women and having your healthcare help pay for birth control is helpful.

Perhaps Rush is way out of touch with normal people on this issue being a multi-millionaire that flies down on a private jet to the Dominican Republic with pocket full of Viagra.

Fixed.

Oh, dear. I thought Spec was just being clever.

Yeah, he did get caught coming back into the country with Viagra after flying down there for a little trip. Awkward.

Why doesn't Limbaugh focus some of his scorn on the men that are having sex with these women? Oh that's right, it is standard 1950's sexism I guess.

I would think that this could alienate some guys benefiting from birth control coverage . . . but then again his age-demographic is people ordering sleep-number beds & Rascal scooters so I guess sex is not a big priority for them.

He probably thinks they're using the contraception for lesbian sex on his dime. His understanding of how the pill works is already pretty bad, so you never know.

Haha. Yeah, it's those Hispanics who'd think she's a stuffy old bitch. You're not projecting at all.

Yeah, Martha Coakley sure was something. Good thing we have an extremely kind, intelligent, and full-of-substance candidate in Elizabeth Warren.

Hahaha the source for that is an article by Larry Sinclair written yesterday "recalling" a conversation with Breitbart from three weeks ago.

Also, there's no tape.

And what screams "charisma" about Warren? She's going to have a hard time rallying the urban minority vote, which she needs, since most of suburban Mass is fairly red these days.

Associating herself with Occupy Boston wasn't the smartest move in trying to appeal to independents either.

For starters, Warren is actually able to argue points across well.

Obama's pre-election 2010 speech didn't help Martha Coakley much. And this time, Obama has his own election to worry about.

Obama's speech didn't help because it was an election in which people were least likely to vote.

And your idea of what minority demographics will see describes Coakley much more than Warren.

Also, there's no tape.
There had better be a damn tape . . . if there is no tape then the conspiracy clowns are going to go batshit insane with conspiracy theories.

Then again, they'll go crazy no matter what. When some dull tape of Obama dropping the F-bomb and smoking cigarettes emerges, they'll say that was just the replacement tape and the REAL tape was stolen when they killed Breitbart.

Haha. Yeah, it's those Hispanics who'd think she's a stuffy old bitch. You're not projecting at all.

I said Hispanic/Brazilian male and more so Brazilian in this case, as they are the main minority group in Massachusetts these days. I was trying to highlight a key minority group Warren will need, and I think she'll have trouble with that group.

I'm sorry that's how she'll likely come off as such to many men (in general) who don't follow politics that much. Hillary had a similar problem, but Warren doesn't have the name recognition nor experience that Hillary has/had.

Because if you can't afford the insurance, you won't have to pay as much for it, while there is no such equivalent for these voter ID laws.

BTW, is the limbaugh dominican republic thing just a Bob Sagat type of joke or is there truth behind it?

Someone from the site was on Hannity's show tonight; he said the tapes will be released in 7-10 days

So around the time when February job numbers will be released? So if the numbers are good they can try to offset it. But if the numbers are bad will they just hold the tape until later?

What gives you the impression that will happen? Here in Mass, normal, poor out-of-college students usually do not qualify for the state subsidized insurance. It's either you buy it (with the highest premiums in the country/world), your company may provide it, though it may directly deduct from your paycheck for that, or you get fined. That's most likely how the national program will operate.

SO you are okay with people getting health care for free and not buying insurance like yourself?
