The attacks that are leveled in a primary really aren't those that occur in a general. No one's going to argue about who's more progressive or who can deport the most immigrants in the lead up to the general.

Unfit for Command.

Democrat primary voters are persuaded by different strategies than general election undecideds.

Because she doesn't want to poison things. If he does get the nomination she wants her supporters voting for him, not sitting out because she's trashed him thoroughly in their eyes

Case in point: She gets booed when she criticizes him for not being a real democrat.

Because fuck polls.
It doesn't matter that much. That argument is an industry standard for just about everything--we can't have fast internet because the country is too big, we can't have good health care because the country is too big, we can't have better schools because the country is too big. It's a bullshit argument that makes no sense. The reality with Health Care is that we have too many unhealthy people. We have an absurd obesity rate, and the unhealthy people drive up the cost substantially.

I agree that the too big argument lacks substance. Now this would be a key factor on high insurance rates, however the larger the population under coverage, the certainty factor increases and would allow truer costs to be achieved as the base is spread among a greater population and would allow for lower costs as a byproduct of economies of scale and purchasing power centralization added to the increased certainty of outcomes.

I was just told on Twitter that the only reason I don't find Obama inspiring is because "Every president before him looked exactly like you." (I'm white, male, and straight).

You don't find President Obama's time in office inspiring or you don't find the idea of Obama, first black president, as inspiring? The former is understandable but the latter, ugh, you've got a problem.

I can't wait for Saturday, it's almost like waiting for Christmas as a kid.

If Trump wins in SC after shitting on George Bush this week, I think it will be almost impossible to stop him anywhere else.

I just love what Trump is doing to the GOP. All that pandering to the racist base of the party during the Obama years is coming back to fuck them over.

Too many bankers in his government. ACA is terribad and basically a scheme for for-profit insurance companies.

Also, drone attacks, too many wars in the Middle East, etc.

Not much different than Trump would be except for the wars and Obama is quieter about killing brown people or deporting them.

In my estimation:

Bernie is good for everyone (Except bankers).
Hillary is good for no one (Except Hillary).
Trump is good for straight white men.

Trump isn't good for anyone.
Straight white men still get rekt, it's just that they get rekt the least.

I hope your not serious about the ACA. It's flawed, but keeping insurance was absolutely the right thing to do. Not only does it employ thousands of not hundreds of thousands, but for the government due to certain cases made by the SCOTUS would essentially have to purchase the entire health insurance market for them to legally enact any type of progressive single player plan on top of whatever the program costs.

I'm just trying to figure out what you were getting shit for Not every criticism of Obama's presidency is racist, and your points here are legit. But there's a distinction between not loving the president's performance, and thinking that America electing/reelecting the first black president is not a big deal, get what I'm saying?

Sometimes people who share your ideology can behave rude, crass, or borderline toxic. Just take a step back and try to empathize with why they've arrived at that point, and always remember that the fight for progressive issues is bigger than any individual you may butt heads with.

I assure you that the purity tests occur on the right as well, just in different forms. See: RINO hunting.

I don't buy that for a second. Hillary had no problem trashing Obama when he was running, and he had less downside than Bernie has in most peoples minds.

Case in point: She gets booed when she criticizes him for not being a real democrat.

Because that's a crap argument. It's the "No True Scotsman" of Politics, and is almost universally hated. You think the Republicans are going to gain votes by accusing Bernie of not being a Democrat? Most people just assume he's always been one since he has voted with them more often than half their own party.

Yes, fuck polls months before a general election where one person has had years of attacks against them, while the other person has been largely ignored by the opposition.

Yet she still was polling at 50-60% nationally, in polls that polled both Democrats and Republicans. Trump has been attacking Bernie at his rallies, and although they don't mention him by name all the time they certainly have been beating the drum about him being a Socialist. I believe I heard a ton of references to "one that wants to give everyone free stuff" or something of that nature.

No, it really wasn't. The ACA is awful, costly, and comes with huge deductibles. We ran into just how awful it is when my girlfriend tried to access it when she quit working full time. The medicaid extension and the ability to stay on your parents' insurance were the only good things.

"It employs thousands." = "Think of the slavetraders put out of work!"

It isn't a big deal. Having a token black man in power serves the rest of black America not at all.

White men were presidents for how long before that? Some were good, some were bad. I never got my 'white guy' check because of it.

Is this for me?

Who knows, maybe it'll only be this one election if Hillary is the nominee.

But I sure am tired of being told that I don't count because of my race/gender/sexual identity. If that's supposed to make me empathetic, it's not a very good tactic.

No it is more like they finally got something decent to eat. Something that can improve their lives regardless to how you feel. What would be a better option to in this ?
Universal health care with no cost at point of care would be better, obviously.

My girlfriend is trapped between buying horribly expensive insurance with multi-thousand dollar deductibles, paying a penalty, or continuing with COBRA.

Again, you're a plugged in political person, by the very notion you're posting in this thread. I'm not talking about what you've heard. I'm talking about what the mom with three kids in suburban Virginia has heard inbetween games of Candy Crush, posting pictures of her kids on Facebook, and taking those kids to soccer practices and dance recitals while also working 40 hours a week and trying to have a decent marriage.

Those are the people who either literally don't know who Bernie is or only know him through clips on Saturday Night Live. Those are the people who will get introduced to Bernie through hundreds of millions of dollars in SuperPAC money that Bernie will have no answer because using every weapon in your arsenal makes you unclean.

Jeb has fallen to 6% on Predictwise.

I thought that 4th place finish would give him momentum since Rubio had just finished melting down, but then the conservative media saved Rubio :(

And obviously that didn't happen and wasn't going to. So it was either none or some form healthcare that can make their lives healthier. Unless you think that they shouldn't have ACA?

This finishing in 3rd and 4th being "momentum" in this election is so fucking weird. I guess typically you would have 3, maybe 4 serious candidates "running" for office, but this election was a clown car.
I still can't believe they had 10 or 11 "podiums" on a debate stage.

Also, my accidental fervent use of quotations basically sums up the republican "party".

I kinda do think they shouldn't have ACA. Medicaid expansion was great. Keeping kids on insurance till 26 was good. Ditching pre-existing conditions was good.

High deductibles is terrible, shoddy coverage is terrible, penalties for people who can't afford the shitty coverage with terrible deductibles is the rotten core of the system, and it's there because of insurance companies.

Yeah if anything Kasich had the establishment momentum coming out of New Hampshire.
