Economic thought moved right because Marxism-Leninism and state socialism failed and gave "socialism", which is an incredibly broad subject, a bad name. Don't conflate "communism" with "state socialism".* That does not invalidate criticism of capitalism and the need to replace it, and we're going to see that as this century goes on. Whether it gets replaced with socialism or fascism, or whether capitalism hangs on and morphs into something different, is the question.

*Yes I'm aware of the No True Scotsman fallacy before you say that. No I'm not saying the USSR was not socialist. No I'm using "it wasn't real communism!" as an excuse. I'm saying that they tried socialism and failed and never even got to the communism part.
It failed because it doesn't work. Those specific criticisms exist, but they won't (and shouldn't) be taken seriously by anyone who matters in high-level US Government.

I'm saying that in 4 years we could be talking about people making a run for the nomination that we didn't imagine.

In 2012 I doubt many saw Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz, and even Trump to an extent running for President. New Senators will rise, some other more obscure figures and businesspeople may come to light.

It's silly to look solely at the field now and project it as the field in 2020.

Rubio we knew would be giving it a shot, Cruz as well. Obama scared half the field that ran this time off four years ago.

HRC: a neoliberal, neoconservative, big government, big spending liberal, social justice warrior, who wants to open borders for all the illegals and deport children, weak on crime, tough on crime, soft, hawk, corporate welfare, high taxing job-killer, Wall St loving, red-tape loving, loves the gays, hates the gays, divisive, blood coming out of her whatever, not feminine enough, shrill, unaccomplished Butcher of Benghazi.

Flip flopper.

Well maybe some did, but those were entirely new and untested people. What I'm saying is, if we had these noobies and outsiders run in 2016, why would we not have different noobies and outsiders again in 4 years?

People are saying "if not Trump then Kasich, there's no one else!". I just find that very wrong.

Currently heading to a Trump rally with a friend from work... This should be interesting.

Will I get knocked out when I leave my hand down for "the pledge"? Let's find out!

No, but you'll probably get security called on you to escort you out. Apparently it's sort of a weeding mechanism.

Every one of those pejoratives has been used on Obama.

After Walmart switched from butter to margarine (and HFCS...) in their "European Style" croissants (heresy; no response to my email complaint to customer service), I did break my aversion to baking with yeast, with my first attempt at authentic butter croissants (used half the butter, 2% milk (instead of whole), and no melted butter, which all together possibly explained why dough was way too sticky - had to add more flour), and although they took quite a bit of effort, the end results were quite good (apart fiom almost trashing my pristine heavy duty baking tray - will use parchment paper in future). I froze half of pre-baked croissants, which was also a mistake (once baked, they were no where near as good as first (fresh) batch), as should have frozen after baking (once thoroughly cooled). For my next attempt, I'm going to try using whole wheat flour (a world first? ;) ), instead of the left over King Arthur's unbleached white I was using up).

P.S. It's a sign! It's a sign! Guess where the affordable ($10) J.K. Adams FRP-1 Maple French Rolling Pin I bought especially, came from (via Amazon)? Only frigin Vermont, U. S. of A. :).
When glorious fuhrer sanders wins we will march on walmart and purge the western imperialist dogs that dare to ignore the emails of the people

That's not a nightgown. It's a cover up. She's freaking old (sorry). She looks fabulous for her age. I hope I look like that at 68 or whatever.

Also Hillary THANKS FOR KILLING SPECIALTY PHARMA. jerk.

Fun fact:

In Brazil, ex-president Lula was, and then wasn't, and then was, and then wasn't, and then was, and finally as of 5 minutes ago no longer is a Minister in Brazil.

All today.

The fuckery is so strong right now.

Also, after much hyping, I read S4P today and it's really not too bad. It's like a few insane people being shouted down by rationals. Sorry. I am mega disappointed in the crazies.

I heard on the radio that Clinton is looking at Kasich or Manchin as VP.
Stupid rumor. Kasich is deceptively conservative, and more to the point, I don't see Clinton picking someone she doesn't trust. She is paranoid after all. It won't be a Republican and it probably won't be a moderate either.

I wouldn't say Fabulous. She looks good for her age, but someone like Christie Brinkley looks Fabulous for their age (she's 62 and could probably pass for being in her early/mid-40's).

Booker would be a perfect VP, but wouldn't Christie then be able to fill his Senate seat? Not worth the trade-off IMO.

They would be replaced shortly after in a special election. That's how Booker was elected.

Christie would probably appoint a Republican placeholder who wouldn't run in the general, where the Democrat should easily win. I don't think it's a huge risk, but definitely something Clinton would have to consider.
