What in the world was the purpose of them funding that poll? Serious question. Not being shady. I pray that it's part of a larger survey, and they just did this as a question to go along with it. I guarantee those numbers have shifted dramatically.

Not sure why you think they'd shift that much considering Sanders has already pledged to work with Clinton to defeat Trump. Probably more likely that most dems just don't see him as antagonistic as you do.

Yeah, i'm constantly going back on forth over this.

Do you play the demographics game, and go for a "typical" VP that checks all the necessary boxes? Or do you go for someone that just makes a great team with Clinton?

I'm almost inclined to go for the second option, since Hillary's chances at winning are pretty good anyway. Who cares if she loses insecure men as part of her voter base. If these two women together form a campaigning powerhouse, I say go for it. Sometimes the total package is better than the sum of its parts.

I'm going to be a little paranoid for 6 months that the Democrats might screw this up. So I lean more to the "take the safest path" route.

Let's be real, guys. The Verizon "Can you hear me now" guy going to Sprint is a bigger betrayal than Lizzie Forma going to Clinton!

I don't see him as antagonistic. Everyone has moved on from Bernie. I don't think he was mentioned once on the news today except in passing. He's not doing any more rallies, and he's been winding his campaign down nicely.

But, to pretend that Biden, Obama and Warren coming out and saying "She's our girl" hasn't moved the needle towards dropping out seems a bit unlikely to me.

My main point was the relative pointlessness of a news website running that poll in a race that's already decided, I guess? Just seemed like a large sample for that type of question. If it's part of a bigger study, it makes more sense.

Same reason that people are measuring what percentage of GOP folks are supporting Trump - just a measure of party unity at the moment.

Such a Trump move. He's taking the pageantry of the convention to the next level. Instead of focusing on actual policies or even political differences, it's gonna be a big show about celebrity and fame.

If he doesn't ride out on a real elephant I will be dissapointed.

A colleague of mine posted this on Facebook yesterday:

I really don't understand why people are still up in arms about Hillary's email server. Those of you that work government jobs, can you honestly tell me that you've read and memorized every policy pertaining to your job and you've never once broken one of those policies accidentally? I have over a hundred policies governing my job, and I'm sure she has far more than I do. It was a small slip up and she's not the only one that was guilty of it. She's just the only one that's getting reamed out in the media for it. And the FBI has already concluded that her server never had any confidential emails on it. Get over it already people. You're using this shit to support an openly bigoted man-child who turned the GOP primary into a freaking reality show. Get a grip.

Now, I know what you're thinking. He's on the money there right? Surely plagiarize is going to agree with him.

Problem is... I can't. He's a subordinate of mine who failed to follow policy the day before and made our entire department look bad at a time where we're under extra scrutiny.

You don't get to bitch about this! Other people get to, but not you!

Grumble grumble.

Trump's convention will no doubt be a trip. What if Trump gets a 'reality TV' demographic of sorts to vote when they never bothered to in the past?

I think it reflects the past polling showing dems thought the ongoing primary was a good thing for the party. It's not about him winning the nomination. They basically see it as a healthy debate that will make Clinton and the party stronger. Hell, if those polling numbers are accurate, then it means a chunk of Clinton voters want him to continue to the convention.

I'm a little worried that having interns help her run her twitter like "the kids do" might blow up in her face if this kind of stuff becomes a regularity. I don't wanna see the young people she's trying to court turn even farther away from her because Hillary's attempts to get their attention are so transparent.

What makes people think interns are running her twitter account? This isn't a small business we're talking about here.

Just in her inner circle she has Katie Dowd from Hillary's 2008 campaign and Teddy Goff from Obama's 2012 campaign as senior advisors for digital stuff.

Then you have Digital Director Jenna Lowenstein from EMILY's List who's on the same level as Policy Director and Communications director, and who focuses solely on the website, social properties, online videos, online advertisements, and outgoing email. Obama's digital team had a staff of 250 people. It's unlikely for social media stuff to have to go above her after Romney put his digital director under the communications director and failed hard in social media thanks to it.

Inside the Digital team you have Social Media Director Julie Whitaker from Buzzfeed and Deputy Social Media Director Emily Bengtson from Planned Parenthood to focus solely on social media, and under them there are interns. It appears Emily Bengtson was the one responsible for "Delete your account"

Some fun quotes from the CNN article Macho posted in OT:

cnn said:
After missing out on the windfall of low-dollar cash that could've come Trump's way after each of his primary victories, his campaign is not set to launch a low-dollar digital fund-raising operation until around the Republican convention in mid-July, according to a person with knowledge of the plan

Trump's campaign didn't respond to a request for comment for this story Friday afternoon. But Trump's national finance chairman, Steven Mnuchin, told CNN's Erin Burnett on "OutFront" in an interview that aired Friday that the majority of the funds will come in during "the latter half of the summer."

"You have to understand we literally just started this in the last four weeks," said Mnuchin, who didn't disclose the amount of money that the campaign has raised so far...

When pollster Frank Luntz asked a crowd [at Romney's conference] to raise their hands if they would vote for Trump in November, only about 20% of the Romney associates raised their hands, according to Al Cardenas, a prominent GOP lobbyist and fund-raiser....

The anti-Trump antipathy was at times intense. Meg Whitman, questioning House Speaker Paul Ryan at a Friday afternoon session, compared Trump to historical demagogues such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, according to two sources in the room....

Many of the attendees here have known Romney for decades and were among his first supporters. And several expressed alarm that Trump had yet to activate his own, similar network of wealthy loyalists that he knows personally, from real estate friend to Manhattan socialites.

"That happens in the primary. I don't think that's happened for Donald Trump," Zwick said, noting that many people on Trump's finance team lack longterm loyalty to his campaign. "Yes, he knows a lot of wealthy people. But where are his friends that are turning out for him and running through walls?"

Amazing stuff.

One of the immediate Trump lessons is that, if your party doesn't trust you, the amount of terrible-sounding leaking that goes on is REALLY high. Everything the GOP does is basically going to be tape recorded this year.

IIRC the last FEC report listed the RNC as having around 17m cash on hand. Trump had around 3m on hand. I don't know what outside group $ looks like for republicans but Hillary had 77m cash on hand between her campaign and outside groups in the last report.

It's a disaster. From the CNN article:

Many of the attendees here have known Romney for decades and were among his first supporters. And several expressed alarm that Trump had yet to activate his own, similar network of wealthy loyalists that he knows personally, from real estate friend to Manhattan socialites.

"That happens in the primary. I don't think that's happened for Donald Trump," Zwick said, noting that many people on Trump's finance team lack longterm loyalty to his campaign. "Yes, he knows a lot of wealthy people. But where are his friends that are turning out for him and running through walls?"

He's bombing with friends and enemies alike.
