But they are supposed to spend that much on their own defense, not pay it directly to the US correct?

I think it's supposed to be the nations pay 2% into funding NATO. From what I can tell Trump just thinks NATO is a protection racket that isn't run by a good enough gangster.

But I feel like you should look at voter registration edges, not just demography of people who move in. You can move in 30000000 unlikely voters, it won't help.
It's not just that minorities are moving in, but they're shedding white people too. This is at worst a wash and that's assuming every single white person leaving was a non-voter and every single minority coming in is a non-voter.

With Trump they'll have the best gangster, believe me.

Yeah NATO money goes to NATO which I assume we have some discretion or oversight over. But the way he frames it it's like he wants direct payments to the US.

I mean, it's Ohio? So, we're not so stupid as to think anything here is A level. We have a sense of, you know...perspective. :p

A'bus would be Ashtabula!

Trump's biggest advantage is his willingness to talk to the press whenever and wherever, even if he can't coherently answer any of their questions. I do hope Clinton opens up more

The woman on MSNBC made a good point. Trump's strategy is to go from one gigantic fuck up to another. And they keep throwing shit at the media so no one can actually focus on one of the stupid things they said.

The issue is, the media has actually latched onto this one because it's so below the pale. So, their attempts to start something else are falling on deaf ears.

I can't find it either

But they are now saying it wasn't a press conference, but instead, a gaggle

What a world!

It was an unscheduled, mostly off the record thing from what I can gather.

Now would be the absolute worst and or best time to do a presser.

I have to imagine (or hope) that the main reason that the Clinton campaign is not hitting Trump publicly on his biggest lies (Iraq, Libya, tax rate, etc.) is so they can do it at the debates with the biggest audience possible and no chance for Trump to have set up a defense.

first comment says all you need to know about how "fatal" this will be:

"I see George is having another bipolar moment. He isn't even making an attempt to be unbiased. What a joke of a journalist."

The right has spent decades conditioning their voters for this
These people are so fucking delusional it's scary, quite frankly. They need help but then they would say aid is for weaklings or a lie.

Pretty much. Fox trying to call him out would have the same effect; we've conditioned ourselves -- left and right -- to ignore or at least minimize sources of information that contradict our own beliefs. It's easier to shoot the messenger. Democrats haven't had forty years of press demonization to lead to them throwing out stuff they don't agree with out of hand, but we're not immune either. We like our bubbles and that can be disheartening.

That's a good point.

They still have 100 days also, so they can save the low hanging fruit for a late news cycle when it really matters. I'd imagine the last two weeks leading up to the election will be unrelenting from the Clinton campaign. Just absolutely brutal.

I can't fucking believe Jeff Sessions is saying we need to be friends with Russia...like what happened. Democrats are turning into the Daddy party.

Trump is quite possibly the most easily triggered idiot ever.

Seriously. He personifies/defines the common usage of the term online quite well.

Everybody's ganging up on poor Trump for his comments on Khizr Khan, if only somebody was on his side...

ISIS Joins Donald Trump in Dishonoring Humayun Khan’s Sacrifice

The newest issue of the so-called Islamic State’s propaganda magazine Dabiq said the Muslim war hero died as an “apostate” when he was killed by a car bomb in Iraq in 2004 after ordering soldiers under his command to stand back as he moved foward to investigate the vehicle.

Khan was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. ISIS published a picture of his headstone and captioned it, “Beware of dying as an apostate.” (source)

Did Trump really pull the "I am feeling very attacked right now?!" Defense against Khan?

Also, it doesn't matter what the right thinks about this. Like, that's not who we're talking about here. We're talking about people who may be on the right(ish) but aren't freaking insane! No, we're not going to win over every Fox News viewer. That's not our goal. That's not why we want this on the shows. We're talking those moderates in Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and Colorado who, you know, are decent human beings and don't like people attacking veterans and their families.

It's not about a home run every single time one of these stories breaks. It's a steady drip, drip, drip.

This sort of thing amazes me.

Hillary uses campaign spin/rhetoric, and it's the crime of the century.

Trump trolls on twitter, gives shit tier speeches, insults people multiple times a day, is wildly inconsistent, flat out lies, and it's "Well, if he fixes that tax plan, he should be good as gold."

The double standards are staggering.

Reminds me of this article I read today
it's satirical but there are people like this
. The mental gymnastics people are going through to justify a no vote for Hillary this election are astounding.

I dunno. It's more like everything is a lie right now. Many of these Trump clowns were there in Reagan's time trying to sabre rattle with Gorbachev and play chicken with nuclear weaponry. Now Trump wants to be chum chum with Putin because he wants to build a Trump tower there, suddenly all of these idiots are like "oh nevermind we need to be friends with Russia and btw Hillary's reset was horrible!!". The supporters from what I've seen are pretty OK with this about turn as well.

A serial philanderer needing to clarify what "relationship" means? You don't say.
It's a funny dichotomy where Trump believes he can repeatedly claim to have a relationship with Putin by virtue of Putin complimenting him, and where the Khans cannot criticize him without having met him.

That part on Putin not going into.the Ukraine is even worse in video form. He literally has no idea what has happened in Crimea.

This is like Sarah Palin levels of foreign policy knowledge x50. Russia won't invade the Ukraine, but the Crineans are happy with Russia, and the Ukraine is a mess, and Obama did it

I mean, I definitely get that. For the most part, the Republicans that I would consider sane are just staying completely silent. They're not rushing to his defense or anything like that. It's chickenshit horseshit whatever, but ya. I would hope they'd have had the backbone to come out and say that some of the shit he's spewing is not okay. Some of them have, actually. Kasich has been surprisingly great on both the Russian angle and the Kahn family.

I think most of the criticism we see is from Republicans who aren't in elected office. Because, you know, they don't have to cozy up to the cray-cray they've lost control over. I mean, I think a lot of bad things about the Bush family. But you know, deep down, they're not okay with this. I don't think Paul Ryan or Turtle are either. But, they're too weak to come out and say enough.

That's the shit that upsets me. Again, though, I think the news stories are not for these people. (Although it may pressure them a bit if they feel the risk to support Trump is no longer worth it!) I think it's more about soft-R voters who are, literally, watching a man for the presidency attack Gold Star Mothers, 4 Star Generals and POWs.

I'm watching the Trump interview with my jaw on the floor. I mean, we have some idiots here in the UK political spectrum, but wow. Please don't elect this asshole. Pretty please.

Do people admire Tump's various buildings? I find it hilarious that he finds his vanity projects, such as gaudy casinos with his name in lights, to be 'sacrifices'.

I think that might be a dangerous tactic. To play the debates on rebutting Trump's whoppers would be to play on Trump's ground. It's kind of like those creationist/evolutionist "debates" where the one side spouts a stream of arrant nonsense that just can't be sensibly rebutted in a finite amount of time.

Hillary needs to take the game to Trump by hitting him where he isn't. On stuff he hasn't even considered having an opinion on.

Save the rebuttals for attack ads.

I still think the Russia story is going to be the big thing to really sink Trump.

Someone made the point on AM Joy that I hadn't thought about: don't think that the backlash we're seeing now is the end of. A US presidential candidate possibly having ties to Russia and being influenced by Putin probably has every investigative journalist in the world interested.

Research and articles are probably being written now.
