Zuckerberg just hired a pollster

Fucking hell

Facebook isn't doing enough to combat fake news still, he's going to be directly blamed for Trump during the debates (if he makes it that far) and he'll have no real response to that.

Let's talk more about how Zuckerberg signed off on a hate speech policing system in which saying "I want to kill black babies" is fine but saying "White people suck" would get you banned.

Also this.

The guy is a dead fish in a barrel. He shouldn't get very far.

he will just find ways to redirect everyone on facebook to propoganda on why he is great

To be fair, there is only so much Facebook can do there. They can't stop your uncle from posting an article about Obama being a secret Muslim.

Zuckerberg has no charisma, I'm not super worried.

Above all else, the Democrats have to prioritize charisma and someone who inspires the base. Actual platform is kind of unimportant. If they nail that (huge if), Zuckerberg shouldn't matter.

Perhaps we'll get lucky and a pollster would report to him day after day honestly and say "this is a horrible idea."

After realizing how he unknowingly helped hand Trump the win last year I think it's gone to his head that he could manipulate the entirety of his service to push himself and his own agenda if he spent even the smallest about of effort doing so. That's probably not even wrong! Just that there's no one who wants to listen.

Who is Zuckerberg's base supposed to be?

He's a rich corporatist with no charisma so not traditional dems and you aren't going to win rich libertarian folk running on the dem ticket. Might be speaking too soon but he doesn't seem to have a coherent grasp of political dynamics in this country. Running for president feels like a YOLO moment for him.

Why, turning out the young college students, of course!

As long as he doesn't find ways to sway all the people who use facebook with information that supports him I don't think he would do very well politically. He lacks charisma and it's kinda hard to see anyone getting behind him.

The real question should be:

What if Zuckerberg runs R and tries to primary Trump? Do you vote for him? Or just watch in amusement as he gets annihilated?

I would probably switch voter registration so I could cast a troll vote for him in the primary.

Yeah Im not really sure who would be excited to vote for him.

Can Zuck even use Facebook in his political efforts? Seems like there would be laws to stop that, no?

Regardless of what anyone previously assumed, in the era of Trump it seems pretty clear there are zero ethical standards whatsoever regarding business interests while a candidate or a politician. Why wouldn't he be able to? Rules? Oh please. And who would even theoretically force these rules? A Trump FEC? Hah.

There is a non-zero chance of these happening, which is scary enough.
fucking disgusting, I hope zuckerbug gets destroyed, I dont even want to see him on the debate stage for the primaries. fuck him.
He has zero charisma and nothing to offer other. Waste of already-overcrowded podium space.

If there is one thing that can unite liberals and socialists on this site, its hatred of Mark Zuckerberg.

Nina Turner or Tulsi Gabbard would be preferable to his rich ass.

maybe he read too many techbro medium articles about the need for a tech-oriented socially-liberal fiscally-conservative party and thinks running on the Win The Future ticket will actually appeal to the great centrist masses of America

it's as good a guess as any I think

I wouldn't support Zuckerburg during the primaries but if it came down to him or Trump, it would be an extremely easy decision.

Why this kind of anger towards him?

That's a legitimate question. Did he do something terrible?
Being the actual aggregate of Fake News during the election, for starters. It's also the least inspiring background story ever. "Privileged white guy becomes billionaire with some website and is now running for President" is infinitely worse than even "real estate, casino guy and reality TV host runs for President," PLUS these are Democrats you'd have to convince with his story. Dead on arrival. Energizing lower-income voters and minorities is key to their success. Just pandering to millennials is insufficient to even win a primary, as Sanders has proven.
which part of the south will zuckerberg win? lol.
It would be a 100% Sanders demographic repeat. In other words, not something a Democratic candidate can afford.

I bet they'll enforce the rules when he's running against him.
