Eh, I dunno. I had a 5% chance to hit that enemy in Fire Emblem yesterday, and what do you know? I did it.

Bad news for Obama. :(

Guys, now that the thread is a bit slow, I asked someone to repost the blog of the military guy from VA (his first name is Pat IIRC). He was a Hilary guy but now supports Obama. I'm curious to read his recent posts..

Bill Clinton just finished his speech at VCU (College in Virginia) just now. My cousin runs the building that Bill was talking in or outside of.

He said there was like 6,000 people there and hype everybody up to vote for Obama.

I find that come election day, a lot of these polls are gonna be very wrong.

maybe it's just me being a pessimistic
Alot of them will be wrong, but I think most will still side with Obama. He has what I would call the "winning bounce", with his lower ends near McCain's higher performances.

WTF? where is this playing?
I think that's from the 2006 cycle, where Harold Ford lost by a very small margin. It's a notoriously blatant racial ad; I hadn't seen it in a while and had forgotten how bad it was. :\

Yep. It was really the only loss of the night too. Harold Ford does kinda suck now though.

"In 2006, the RNC was able to come to the rescue of these committees. In one case, I believe one of their independent expenditures tipped the outcome with their humorous, effective, and perfectly legitimate ad against Harold Ford in Tennessee."

Wouldn't it freak you out if McCain or Obama was just walking along in your neighborhood?

Yeah, I get that in a statewide race in TN he's not exactly going to be a firebrand, but I just remember way too many comments from him complaining about Dean's leadership in the DNC, or the party being too liberal or whatever.

From Nate's 538 update of Today's Polls:

As has been true for most of the post-convention period, Barack Obama appears to have a structural edge in the Electoral College. Colorado is a big part of that. Presently, we are showing a lead for Obama of about 6.5 points in the national popular vote (our model assumes the race will tighten a bit, so we're expecting that number to fall to 5.4 points by Election Day).

But if you look at our current estimates in the individual states -- this is the 'snapshot' line in the polling table -- you'll see that we have Obama ahead by at least 8 points in all of the Kerry states, plus the Gore add-ons of Iowa and New Mexico, plus Colorado, plus Virginia. Collectively, those states are worth 286 electoral votes -- well more than Obama needs to win. So while McCain has something like a 6-7 point deficit to make up in the popular vote, the gap is more like 8 points in any set of states that would give him a winning electoral combination.
That's a deeeep hole.

Hey, he is the head of the DLC after all, he's going to be at odds with the Dean portion constantly.

23 days or so... So very close. Tad over 3 weeks. Not much to do after next debate. Assuming Obama wins undecided again. Especially since next debate is pure economy or whatnot.

I'll believe it when it's November 5th.

We'll see tomorrow with the national polling. If it trends Mccain again that means there is definitely a potential trend in effect. The state polling always will trail that. Not saying it's suddenly a close race or anything but as usual I never share the GAF confidence in 538 Pac Man charts.
