My main question at the mo' is, do the 1P games shown have any upgrades for their graphics modes?

RnC for eg. is hitting 60fps with PSSR but it's using the Performance mode from the PS5 as a base with reduced crowds, FX and no RT(?). I don't have much interest in that and I'd rather play the 40fps mode with all of that in tact, only the base resolution dropped and brought back up with PSSR; then use the leftover GPU juice for an additional RT effect and other effects.

I'm fine with 30fps or preferably 40fps in everything except first person games, but they haven't really displayed much in this regard. Mainly seems to be performance modes with better image quality.

It'd kinda suck to spend $250 extra on a console and then find the graphics modes look basically the same as on the base machine while the performance modes get cranked.

Gimme the best image quality and fx at 40fps.

Exactly ...the 26th is approaching fast and there are too many concerns I have with this thing ....how Sony hasn't answered basic questions like this is crazy

It’s a awkward situation because we all waiting for an event to see new games to see them running on the Pro.

I doubt this was Cerny’s plan to reveal the console, he would have wanted to show some heavy hitters

Psst, the Heavy Hitters are Concord and Fairgames and the Horizon Remaster.

Yeah, and now we know at TGS they'll have a grand total of ....TWO GAMES ...to show off for the Pro- GT7 and FF7 Rebirth. Like what? Btw if Forza Motorsport is anything to go by GT7 will not exactly look noticeably different to how it is currently on base PS5- RT reflections are just not very noticeable in a racing game while whizzing around the track.

Arrogant Sony this console just smacks of it. It's like, "we don't have to show games and we don't have to assure people this will even improve Fidelity modes either; you'll take what we give you and you'll buy it anyway". It's $700, they want people to pre order in 5 days after the initial reception to that weak Cerny presentation has been awful anx they don't have another presentation lined up? Another odd thing is that there's no ads or even mentions of the Pro on the PS5 store ....weird but makes sense under the current Sony leadership imo.

The entire reveal has been abysmal, feel like this whole thing could've been laid out and presented much better; multiple events leading through from now, into TGS and the 30th Anniversary.

There is/was an opportunity for an epic hype cycle and a way to address each segment of the audience in different ways.

Feel like Sony are barely trying.

I don't get people attaching emotions or personality traits to this lol, arrogant? If the games aren't ready to show they aren't ready to show it's not arrogance it's reality. They aren't holding them back just to annoy people, they want positive press just as much as any company, the studios just need to get the games to a place where they think they'll make the biggest splash.

Death Stranding 2 is supposed to be at TGS isn't it? I'm no fan of Kojima but the gameplay we've seen from it so far looks great from a graphics point if view.

There aren't any games to show because they don't feel they need to try anymore and make them, this gen is "won". Plus all that romance with GaaS games - lots of money are going into that direction.

Sony is in - "I don't give a fuck anymore, you bitches gonna buy it anyway" mode, like they were in 2005.

So much for 2 to 3 times the RT power... the RT in game is still very low res. Comparable to Forza's on Series X and that was on base console (the resolution, the RT is better, reflects more stuff etc).

But I don't get it, no RT in game to RT in game is infinite times the RT power? What is attributed to PS5 Pro reflecting everything vs Forza on base console? Wasn't the 2x attributed to BVH8?

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
If nobody is prepared to buy for 700 why on earth are scalpers gonna hoover up all the pre-orders and list them on eBay for 1500+

Also eBay and their ‘you can’t list something you don’t own’ rule allowing listings for… something the scalpers don’t own.

Beggars belief.

They say it is a lot better than Forza (quote “it is nothing like Forza”) as it reflects far more stuff and it is higher quality (smooth and rough surfaces reflections too). Did they max the console? Maybe not, but it is a more than trivial upgrade.

With RT it dops the resolution from 2160p to ~1188p. Who would choose pixilated reflections over a much sharper image?
Will see when it comes out as they have kept on improving PSSR since the demo was recorded, most recently in September, so unless it is really really soft and pixelated it will get ground the game more (they apparently use RT reflections inside the car too).

Oliver said it looked extremely similar to the current 4k mode on base console it's because the AA solution wasn't all that great to begin with.

Surely by tomorrow which is Monday retailers will get the pre order details for both pros and the price for the 30th edition?

My main question at the mo' is, do the 1P games shown have any upgrades for their graphics modes?

RnC for eg. is hitting 60fps with PSSR but it's using the Performance mode from the PS5 as a base with reduced crowds, FX and no RT(?). I don't have much interest in that and I'd rather play the 40fps mode with all of that in tact, only the base resolution dropped and brought back up with PSSR; then use the leftover GPU juice for an additional RT effect and other effects.

Gimme the best image quality and fx at 40fps.
Following on from this it's kinda disappointing that it's not the full fat graphics mode at 60fps in RnC but the performance mode instead.

The spiel here is effectively "no longer choose between performance or graphics". But you still are choosing and you're still choosing performance, just with an IQ upgrade, the graphics options in this case are still lower like the base system's performance mode.

Render performance may only be 45% higher, but if you're dropping your base resolution to ~half and you also have 2-3x the performance for core RT operations it seems rather weak. This is literally taking the worst mode and just adding PSSR on. I was expecting a little bit more of an upgrade across the board and I think for the $699 price, that is a fair expectation.

PSSR comes with a ~2ms cost of course but you should be raking back multiple times that with a resolution drop and/or faster RT operations. Unless the CPU is becoming a limiting factor at lower rendering resolutions (unlikely), then perhaps the culprit is memory bandwidth; but then if you have the audacity to mark the price up to $699 w/o a disc drive, then spending a few extra bucks on some G6X for an extra 100GB/s should be reasonable.

Hopefully this is just a poor, early effort and not representative of what we're gonna see. But if the best this thing is gonna be doing in most titles is slapping PSSR on to the ugliest mode then I'm not impressed.

*** this entire forum if it breaks the 8m mark.
Not saying there's any guarantees - but I'd be a bit careful with the bets here given that one result of the way Sony rolled out things so far is that PS5 Pro has way more public visibility than PS4 Pro ever did. The price reactions may have been negative but they kept the thing in discussion more and longer than its predecessor - and as (some)people gradually get conditioned that 'they may want to pay after all' with the positives - who knows what'll happen in the end.

Basically - the original Pro was 'just another PS4' and its how casual audiences perceived it primarily. This one is different (for better and worse) so far.

It's definitely early effort, especially this far from launch (though how much effort PD actually puts into it in the end is anyone's guess).
But it's also really limited source of data for analysis, and given pixel counters have massively undercounted games before at times (RE7 1260 -> 1800 on PS4Pro comes to mind) I'd want to see analysis off of game actually running live, before making conclusions - there's just too many possible sources of error right now to put much trust into any of it (including the initial 'glowing' reviews of PSSR - let's see how it actually holds up to scrutiny later).

8m seems like a low estimate, but the final number will probably look small in comparison to the base unit. If they had increased the performance of the CPU more, enough to guarantee that games CPU limited to 30fps on the base system could run 60 on the Pro, this could have been a really nice upgrade. They just can't seem to make these revisions without nurfing them in some aspect.
