Worth a Buy raises an important point!

There is a tweet that was showing why the previews where positive.

The gist is that, the devs took parts from the game that were okay, instead of the entire game. This tricked reviewers in to thinking the game was good.

It deception act from the devs side, in order to hide the potential issue of the game.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
DF (Alex Batagglia) just posted a savage review of the PC version.

I heard this has no full motion cutscenes and they bring up they working “lower budget”and that to me doesn’t make sense.

Gust works even lower budget compare to Arkane and yet their Atelier games has proper cutscenes.

Fucking hell with Drakengard 3 SE barely give Yoko Taro a budget to work with and still both CGI and in-game cutscenes.
Nothing in this game make sense.

Imagine how do i feel as an arkane super fanboy...(and i don't even give too much fucks about cutscenes in an arkane game tbh)

That's impossible unless they had a fucking ia behaviour that was better than the final one just for the preview.

You must be blind to not notice the shitty ia during a preview try (or just dishonest)

And how they didn't noticed the 2000 era textures? or how boring the skills are? or the lack of immersive sims dna? or the bugs?

I don't buy it.

I'm never played any of Arkane games, none of their games had any cutscenes? I believe even Prey had cutscene when character properly moving and talking.

couldn't have Redfall even do something like this?

This sound a lot like bullshit excuses, not gonna lie.

Sure you can craft a vertical slice for preview purpose, but the game is so fucking broken on a fundamental level that any experienced gamer without bias would notice something severely wrong with it.

I still don't buy it.

This is a clear case of previews being always good for 95% of big titles and general shittyness of modern media.

I don't trust these guys one bit.

They can make a part of the game look good, while cutting out the bad parts.
CDPR purposely put out Cyberpunk2077 PC codes only, instead of console version in order to get that positive momentum. Even though the game was broken from AI to graphics.

How do you cut out engine related bugs? bad textures? IA? how bland the abilities are? how uninteresting the loot is? how empty the open world is? lack of cutscene and shitty production values etc.

At a certain point you have to ask yourself, if arkane has a better ia model, better textures, a more optimized build, better enemy displacement on the map, actual cutscenes etc. why not using them for the final game?

Can i believe that just opening the map make the whole facade cruble? even stuff that is not related to how big the map is like skills, loot etc.

Isn't way easier to think that journalist are a bunch of lying shills?

At best is a mix of arkane being shitty and media being biased, unexperienced and disingenous.

I havent kept up with all the Redfall posts, so this is the first post I've seen about this.

Has it been proven or stated anywhere yet that they might had pulled off a Cyberpunk 2077 where previewers played PC rig versions?

Or did they play on various platforms?
According to them, its was segments of the game and not a full product like the retail version.
Small segments can be controlled to make it seem nice and good.

Cyberpunk on other hand, that was deception, since console version for Xbox one and PS4 version were bad. So they only gave the PC version, instead of consoles. This makes people think the console version is good, while in reality its not.

You dont need better AI model or better textures for previews.
You make the game somewhat good to play and aim for 80s ratings. Usually that means there will be bland moments and messy part, but not bad enough.

If you listen to them carefuly, he states that the game was OK for the 90min gameplay that they had. Not that the gameplay was perfect, but okish.

Hey you never know.

At my companies, there's prototype samples shown to people 1-2 years before launch. Samples get passed around to look at. At some point we all get real take home freebies too leading up to launch (6 months before launch from pre-batches).

Then the final product comes in and piled high to ship out to retailers. During this time, people always pull some cases from the warehouse to check them out in the office. You'd think it would be the exact same shit we saw 6 months ago, but sometimes the bottle is bit different, the cap is a different colour or shape and for whatever reason nobody told anyone.

OR.... somebody knew the whole time the factory had to make a change and the office was never told. Play dumb and hope it just flows through. And everytime it has happened, the changes are always make the product worse. I have never seen a surprise change that made the final product look better. On the other hand, anytime there's a positive change to the final version, the marketing team is always proactive to tell the world they were able to improve the label graphics before final production.

Don't you think that this is an over-semplification?

They make the game somewhat good to play to score an 80, but if they knew how to do that, the game would not be a 4-5\10 at the very best.

I don't know, it still sound fishy.

Something really bad happened during the development of this game, you cannot just go from prey and dish (hell even deathloop) to this thing...

The retail version is complelty different from the previews ones.

The only good thing to come of this entire shitshow is that I've queued up another playthrough of both Dishonored 2 and Prey for this weekend.

Arkane, if you're reading this: please stop fucking around and do what do you do best.

This site gave it 35/100

Redfall resembles the vampires it's based on. It lacks identity, and sucks the life out of you. Every time I see a spark of potential, it's stomped out by bugs, braindead AI, and an empty world not worth exploring. I wish Arkane well in their next endeavor, because they need to let this one die.

PROS
Variety of fun weapons
An intriguing premise and setting
CONS
Open world is empty and dull
Shallow story
Abysmal AI
A bunch of design ideas that don't flow together
A ton of bugs and glitches

Most of the people responsible for those games are probably gone, unfortunately.

Thats a good point people forget about gaming. Studio in name. But people change.

It's like when people bring up Bioware's legacy of RPGs back in the 90s and 2000s and what the hell happened lately. I think they all quit 10 or 15 years ago.

I just found out one of the main guys at Arkane left after Prey and before Deathloop.

I'm not sure how you felt about Deathloop, but I didn't like it

I'm not even gonna play Redfall now.

The Arkane we know and love may be gone.

I thought you meant there was a release on Steam! Not the old PS3 game!
Oh, there is no chance of that happening, (i wish did) this game needs proper remaster/remake. As much as I loved the game it was technical mess but I still managed get platinum for it.

I suspect they may have shown the previously in development pre-cancelled PS5 version.
