So what we know so far:

1. Main character (or one of main characters) is Grace, Alyssa Ashcroft's daughter (one of playable characters in Outbreak games).
2. We are going back to bombed out Raccoon City (going back to the origin of RE franchise)
3. The hallway with curtain and broken window is a call back to dog jumping through window in RE1 mansion
4. The game takes place in city (instead of middle of nowhere in RE7 and Village), or abandoned area of the city from the look of it
5. Grace looks like she's early 20s. This means about 30 years has passed since Raccoon City was bombed. We can tell because Alyssa did not have daughter during the Raccoon City incident.

But yeah as for the game.. look like this is a time skip going by the rusted RPD gates. Excited AF.

Yeah, I agree. I knew it was RE from the beginning. RE Engine just has this look especially when it's in a realistic style versus something like Monster Hunter. I like that we are returning to RC, and it's cool that we are playing as Alyssa's daughter as I love Outbreak.

I hope they never return to action orientated RE. I love this darker direction.

I agree at least when it comes to the mainline games. I don't mind side titles being more action oriented. I would love to see Survivor or Dead Aim come back as a FPS, and this is gonna be an unpopular opinion but I would love to see another shot at Operation Raccoon City as while it wasn't great I think an action based TPS where you play as Umbrella is a cool idea.

I'm curious as to whether or not they are going with third or first person for Re9uiem though. I loved VII and VIII but I enjoy the gameplay of something like RE2/3/4R more with the third person.

Knew it was something Capgod related because of the hair. Hair in the RE Engine always has a certain look.

But soon as I saw RPD I got hyped.

Upon rewatching, I think I was just thrown off because I think the protagonist looks a bit too anime-like compared to the photorealistic setting. Perfect face and all that. But anyway... It is Capcom.

FYI, folks are speculating (and I agree) that this Requiem monster is Alyssa, or what's left of her.

You can see the blonde shoulder length hair and she's got a torn red shirt/jacket on.

i doesn't matter, at the end of the day its all about taste, i love the old RE games, but RE7 is so atmospheric and immersive that spoiled the third person for me, on third person the game lost the feeling of anxiety cause you can see your surrounds anytime.

Despite a few missteps here and there, Capcom has been on a roll.

First, Pragmata, a game many believed was quietly cancelled after its proposed 2023 release was delayed indefinitely, was surprisingly revealed at PlayStation State of Play 2025.

Now, Resident Evil 9 is the closing game for the Summer Game Fest of 2025. Interesting choice for the name Requiem and a clear way to tease the number 9 by replacing q with 9.

Two of the strongest games for each event, and both are Day 1 Purchases.

I cannot wait to experience both of them on my PS5 Pro on my 48-inch LB B4 OLED TV.

zero commonalities between RE8 and outlast except for the perspective.

nowadays it really is just people looking at the most generic commonality between games, and then directly compare them to eachother.

game is horror themed and first person? it's like Outlast... ignoring the fact that RE8 isn't even the same genre as Outlast.

game has melee combat and a dodge? obviously a souls-like!

game is hard to describe? just call it an action adventure!

that's how games are categorised now apparently.
