That helicopter is a hilarious waste of resources. Do they expect him to come out with guns blazing?

If that Ford family meeting was just a strategy session, and not an intervention, it really tells you about the mindset of the entire family.

If you thought the Toronto Sun was only unclassy when it dealt with the left wing, you'd be wrong!

Did his best friend Giorgio Mamolliti say anything regarding this recently? I think i hate him as much as Ford. I wonder if they will become enemies again and Ford starts calling him Gino boy again lol.

Apparently he went to buy sausages. I'm not making this up. Was that what the family meeting was about? "Hey what do you guys wanna have for dinner? Sausages? Rob, why don't you go and buy some?"

Dear friends,

I believe in restorative justice. Which is the idea that we need to look for ways to help people who make serious mistakes in their lives -- as and when they take responsibility for their actions, and accept accountability.

Like all Torontonians, I was very disappointed to learn yesterday from Chief Bill Blair that Mayor Rob Ford has not been telling the people of Toronto the truth about the video widely reported in the media in recent months. Many of yesterday's revelations about Mayor Ford's closest associates, activities and personal problems are also deeply troubling.

Mayor Ford obviously faces some serious challenges in his life. I hope he finds help soon.

I also believe that as our Mayor -- head of our city administration and Toronto's representative to the province, the country, and the world -- he must take responsibility for his actions. A good place to start would be for him to now face up to the truth, and to tell it.

Our city deserves better.

"Oooh was that wrong? Should I not have smoked crack? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorence on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon... "

It always ends up with the Costanza defense

lol

Key Toronto council allies draft letter urging Mayor Ford to end crisis

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/key-toronto-councillors-draft-letter-urging-mayor-ford-to-take-action/article15217746/

A group of Toronto councillors close to the mayor are saying enough is enough and are preparing a message for Rob Ford urging him to take action to end the crisis surrounding his leadership.

Several members of the mayor’s executive met Friday afternoon in the office of Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly. The meeting was to draft a letter to the mayor, say several individuals familiar with events. The wording of the letter was still a work in progress Friday afternoon, with some councillors involved in the discussions reluctant to go so far as to ask for his resignation, sources indicated to the Globe and Mail.

“It is about obviously reflecting on the impact of the mayor’s activities on the city,” said one councillor familiar with the discussions. Another councillor said it will ask the mayor to step aside.

The request comes one day after the city was rocked by a series of revelations that included news that the police have the video of the mayor that allegedly caught him smoking crack cocaine. It also follows confirmation from police Friday that they have been attempting to question the Mayor.

Mr. Ford, who spent part of Friday morning huddled with his family and closest advisors at his mother’s Etobicoke home, made it clear Thursday he had no intention of stepping down.

“I have no reason to resign,” he told a crush of reporters Thursday. “I’m going to go back, return my phone calls. I’m going to be out doing what the people elected me to do and that’s save taxpayers money and run a great government that we’ve been running for the last three years.”

Friday morning, his brother, Councillor Doug Ford accused the police chief of politicking during a radio interview and the mayor’s lawyer did a media blitz demanding the release of the video and accusing the chief of having a “political agenda.”

Several councillors on all sides of the political spectrum have said the mayor needs to take time away from city hall and address his personal problems.

Councillor Shelley Carroll said it is “untenable” for the city to continue for weeks with the current crisis in leadership in the mayor’s office. Ms. Carroll said the issue needs to be resolved by the council meeting later this month. If it is not, “I am not going,” she said.

how utterly lacking in balls do you need to be to balk at asking for a resignation, at this point.

not Fletcher ;) She just emailed her list and this was the end bit:

I believe that for the sake of our City, and indeed the Mayor's own health and dignity, Mayor Ford should now step aside.

Toronto deserves better.

As entertaining as this is - it's absolutely fucking crazy that he hasn't been forced to step down until this is sorted out, and it disappoints me deeply. What an embarrassment to our country. If he thinks he can skirt this with the "well you can't prove I was smoking crack, it could be tobacco" then he should give his fucking head a shake. Anyone who uses this as a defence, or thinks its a reasonable defence is a tool.

I mean, if he wants to genuinely prove he's not a crackhead, take a drug test. This ordeal is insulting. What a fucking prick.

I remember Adam Giambrone was run out of town and dropped out of the mayor's race cause he cheated on his girlfriend, how Ford stays in office with all this shit going on is just incredible.

Yuuuupp. I'm honestly amazed that the "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO ANYTHING LA LA LA LA LA" defense that he's employed has worked for so long.

Surprise! Another lie:

As the city of Toronto reacts to the latest round of allegations about Mayor Rob Ford and drug use, CBC News has obtained a document that outlines one of the most whispered about city hall stories: the mayor's night out on St. Patrick's Day in 2012.

According to an email written by city hall security staff on duty that night:

- Ford and staffers spent a few hours in the mayor's office before heading out around 11 p.m.
- When they returned to city hall at 2 a.m., "it was quite evident the mayor was very intoxicated as he had problems walking … and was swearing at [senior aide] Earl Provost."
- At 2:30 a.m., "the mayor headed down to the security desk alone with a half-empty bottle of St-Remy French brandy."

The report goes on to say that "Ford was quite upset with Provost and on a couple occasions stated to yell and swear and made some very alarming allegations regarding councillors Josh Colle and Ana Bailao."

It concluded by saying that despite his state Ford was very courteous, left city hall at 2:50 a.m. by taxi, and that security staff "did our best at keeping him away from the public eye due to his condition."

It speaks to the absurdity of the current situation that my first reaction after reading that was "that's not so bad, relatively"

There is nothing that can force him to be removed from office unless he misses too many council meetings if he doesn't want to quit. When you think about it like that, there's no reason the "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO ANYTHING LA LA LA LA LA" defense wouldn't work for him. We're stuck with him until his term is up as long as he doesn't want to go.

Will all of this finally force the Province to add an impeachment law to Municipal elections? We can only hope.
