His lawyer went on CP24 today and said that Ford is "the victim" in all this.

What still amazes me is that in Rob's mind he has done no wrong. That everyone who questions his actions has an agenda and is just looking for things to bring him down.

This is what happens when you spend your entire life with people enabling you.

I don't know about that. Polls indicated that if the election had been Miller vs Ford then Miller was strongly positioned to win. Don't forget that the election was seen for quite a while as Smitherman's to lose. Also Ford hadn't taken complete and sole ownership of I hate everything constituency of the city as he came to and Tory was well positioned to become the right wing candidate to beat as opposed to Ford. Ford was far from certain to win at the start of the campaign and Ford's campaign manager stated right out that they did what they could to convince Tory not to run.

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2010/11/05/did_ford_campaigns_tricks_knock_tory_out.html

Consider this: In 2003 when John Tory was running against Miller (and there was no Ford in the race) Tory requested a meeting with the Fords to get their blessing. If the Fords wouldn't support Tory in Etobicoke during that election, winning would be much harder overall. They did support Tory and the mother Ford was quoted as saying "We like you and we want you to win. We'll help you win Etobicoke and you can be mayor. After that it will be Robbie's turn." (I'm paraphrasing but the quote itself is a bit famous.)

In the next election, with Rob running, I'm sure their campaign didn't want Tory to run and split the vote, but if John felt that he needed the Ford's blessing to run as a conservative even before Rob ran speaks volumes into the power that family weilds in Etobicoke.

John lost the election to Miller but he did take Etobicoke.

So maybe Etobicoke isn't *that* important then. Miller won without Etobicoke and I'm pretty sure Chow is leading now without Etobicoke also. It's still early in the campaign so we'll see what happens but I really think both Tory and Miller did the city a disservice by opting to sit out for years ago. Ford Nation didn't exist when the 2010 election started and Ford was still that lone weirdo from Etobicoke. A vicious backlash to the garbage strike is what propelled Ford to the top as he was the only recognizable right wing banner carrier. That could have been Tory and the city is worse off that it wasn't.

Was it the same lawyer he had before? That guy was Lionel Hutz-level of incompetence the last time I saw him on TV. :lol

Yup, the "Hotmail Lawyer".

The circus just keeps building. This morning Sarah Thomson, a side show on her own (and the woman whose ass Ford grabbed that one time,) showed up at city hall to register to run for mayor... in a horse-drawn carriage.

She wants toll highways but only on 905ers. That would accelerate the corporate exodus to Mississauga and Markham/Richmond Hill where workers won't get tolled. Not that I'm complaining.

I have no problem with dreadlocks, but she really needs to get it done again. Looks very bad, it's like she hasn't done it in years.

Her run for mayor seems like such a blatent publicity stunt, like she's looking for a job in the media or something.

Writing a cutesy poem is such a lame cry for attention.

Last mayoral election, Thomson was the only candidate to offer any actual proposals to fund transit development without relying on handouts from other levels of government. None of the other candidates had anything to say on the matter at all. For that reason alone, I would have voted for her if she stayed in, that time. This time, the rest of the candidates have mostly caught up on this issue however, so her presence isn't helpful since she has no chance. I've seen her getting coffee a bunch of times where I live. The dreads are pretty jarring in person. She's hard to miss.

I'll vote for Stintz if come October she is still in it and has a chance of winning. Otherwise, I guess it's Tory since Chow doesn't care for subways.

Remember that video where Ford is threatening to kill someone?

“To the best of this defendant’s knowledge the video depicts snippets of a private social gathering in a private residence and relates to a private, jocular discussion in the supposed privacy of a friend’s home where this defendant was discussing and imitating as a joke, the pre-match rant of a professional wrestler,” Ford’s statement reads.

Yeah, he wasn't threatening to kill anyone, he was pretending to cut a promo.

So, a new bunch of police documents were released today, and someone on Twitter noticed that for the first time... Rob Ford has officially been referred to as a "person of interest".

That's actually something.

Wasn't it said that this investigation goes beyond him smoking crack? I wouldn't be surprised if he was linked to murders over the crack video.

The meat of the investigation is the extortion charge, in relation to retrieving the crack video.
