[RUMOR] PlayStation Reportedly Set To Launch PC Ports 6 Months After Release Moving Forward

With Astro Bot they would be already 6 months late already.

I dont think outsiders know too much about this tbf, it will be decided on a per game criteria and some won't be released on PC at all.

Where is Demons Souls?

PS6(months)
Very apt
And a remaster 12 months after launch.

It takes Nixxes roughly six months to do a proper port. PS dev environment differs from MS dev environment which is very similar for both Windows SDK and GDK for Steam and Xbox ecosystems.

So 6 months is good timed exclusivity for bigger AAA single player games, and hype cycle is still fresh for the game.

Sony should follow these rules going forward:

Day One Live Service games

6-12 months for AAA single player games to other platforms. Day One on PS+ Premium Buy and Stream Cloud model.

12 months for putting the games permanently on PS+ Premium game catalog.

Build a PC Storefront that also acts as hub for PS+ Premium, both native and Cloud. Then the same storefront could be added to nextgen Xbox hardware, and Sony wouldn't have to give a cut to either Valve or MS. The rules for MS Store allowing third party stores are minimum of 20 items inventory.

Maybe even do Day One only on Sony PC store with cross buy, cross saves, cross Play, and PSN trophies.

"Listen guys - the key to our future success is our unrelenting commitment to devaluing the brand right into the toilet. Trust me I'm an economics major I know what I'm talking about."

Maybe they will announce Astrobot on the 1-year anniversary. September, just one more month of waiting.

edit-I like this release schedule cause all the bugs get worked out as the Playstation gamers are used as beta testers. :devilish:

Gaming development is becoming more and more expensive, if PC ports help bring in more profits to help justify larger game development budgets than fine with me.
As far as devaluing the Sony console ownership by porting previously exclusive games, Sony themselves probably decided the benefits outweigh the negatives, hence their decision.

I doubt it
Sony seems to settled for 12m lockout for any exclusivity as a sweet point for them
It's just make no sense to port own games after 6 month and demand 12m exclusivity from 2nd/3rd party

Gran Turismo 7?

This and Astro are the only titles not ported, they're way PD code and how slow they are it's probably the only game that will never get ported.

A shame because it wouldn't make bank on GaaS so maybe they'll bring in another team to push for it to happen and do it alongside PD.

This.
Everything else is taking away exclusivity power with little uplift. They need to have a way to sell the games on PC while there is still some hype. And they shouldn't do it on Steam where they'll just help Valve to grow, who will soon enter the living room and become a competitor.

I don't see it happening.

I will stick to 1 year for big AAA games, same day for multiplayer online games on PC. maybe throw a bone to xbox a year later or something, just so it doesn't feel left out

Bad example, DS1 is already the game with the shortest timed exclusivity, came after 8 months iirc.
Let's see if Yotei comes in April 2026.
Not a bad example in my opinion. Because while you are correct, the publishing of the PC port 8 months was done by 505 games iirc. Unless I'm misunderstanding this rumor, it should be Sony themselves publishing on PC 6 months from original release. The article reporting this is specifically citing a source from Nixxes which is owned by Sony. So I think it's fair to see if Sony publishes Death Stranding 2 on PC by December.

Sure, we could wait to see what happens with Yotei as well. It will just take much longer to get a confirmation one way or another.

Along with Gran Turismo, I have a feeling Astro Bot wont be ported to PC either.
Astro Bot requires a Dualsense, it's built around its features.
What they could (should) do, is pick 5 levels that can be played without a dualsense, remove the flying intro and release it as Astro Bot mini Adventure for free on PC and Xbox. That could increase PS5 sales.

GT7 would sell like crazy on PC I reckon ... I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

PC fully supports DualSense now, especially after Sony created the app for updating drivers and customizing Edge controllers.

It would be more difficult on Xbox until next gen hardware.

The sales of Playstation games on pc haven't been that great. Sales of a game that requires buying a 70$ controller to play it would be terrible. Lots of pc players prefer Xbox controllers or other 3rd party controllers with paddles and other features.

Sony has a thing about From Software exclusives, they like to let them fester and die on consoles, especially Bloodborne. Better be a Remaster on PS6, motherfuckers.

The two games that would sell like hot cakes on PC and have a chance to build a strong community are gatekept by Sony. Instead they port games like R&C and Sackboy that sell a couple of thousand copies. As I've said before, clown shoes in charge of the brand right now.
