This is not a Silent hill game, obviously, and nothing will touch the story of the two, but i will try to remain open minded until i will complete it. Let's see....
This is why I don't understand why people get so hung up on native resolutions when every game now uses reconstruction tech.DF mainly commented on the performance, said it looked a smooth 60 on PS5, which the other video also corroborates.
I don't doubt reconstruction will make it look decent. UE5 has pretty decent up-scaling. Playing Cronos right now and its 800~p looks pretty clean in motion.

I was not talking about technical aspect.
And at least on pc the remake was one of the best looking game of the year even if it wasn't super polished (but on pc it felt definitely better than console from what i heard)
The town of Silent Hill, Osaka. What do you mean this is not a Silent Hill game lol. The game is called Silent Hill man, what a weird take
PS5 Pro only has one mode with PSSR at 60 fps. The same situation as in MGS Delta Remake.......but in SH f performance 60 fps is much more stable.Gonna go quality mode on ps5 pro most likely. I doubt the combat needs 60fps. If it's bad frame pacing though I'll go performance.
A game like Batman Arkham knight recently I am replaying is buttery smooth for the ps4 version going 30fps thanks to good frame pacing. If more devs figured out the pacing I'd play 30fps without issues. Then you play borderlands 4 and it feels atrocious.

I'm with Bojji on the facts. There is more AO flicker on pro, primarily foliage compared to base PS5 quality mode. It's not as bad as SH2 remake though AND it is at 60 fps. I played SH2 remake at 30 fps on pro and that was still worse than SH f at 60. It's basically base quality mode at 60 fps with minor flickering on foliage. And on screen like that you can see PSSR flicker even more - I use 55 inch OLED that is 1.5 meters away. And this is youtube, if you can see shit like that in YT video then it's gonna be much worse on actual screen connected to console.
Blame Sony for their shitty upscaler, blame devs for implementing it but don't blame me for pointing it out. If game has more performance options on Pro that allow to turn off PSSR then this is non issue.
I'll live. Footage looked amazing on this and delta.PS5Pro only has one mode with 60fps PSSR. Exact same situation as MGS delta Remake.
And let's not forget we're getting Tormented Souls II next month. Hopefully it won't go under the radar.
Fortunately, in SH-f, the 60fps are much more stable, and it does make sense to "forgo" the 30fps quality mode. Even so, an option to choose TSR/PSSR or (on base consoles) a 40fps or 60fps VRR mode would have been ideal.I'll live. Footage looked amazing on this and delta.
Have they confirmed PSSR though? Haven't seen any material on that. And the AO flickering can also happen simply with low quality lumen accumulation, which may have been a tradeoff for stable-ish 60So, Pro players will have to suffer PSSR artifacts. At least framerate is stable this time.

I didn't played the original so it was (kinda) new for me so it hit me like a sledgehammer and i can't stress enough how much the new voice acting made everything worse(better). The story of Silent Hill 2 won't be topped by anything, you can bet about this, it's too deep, with layers and layers of meanings, and it touches universal themes.

Sad life.Just waiting on Digital Foundry now.
The base performance mode has similar flickering albeit much less than pro. So you are right, nothing other than PSSR would explain it being worse.if it wasn't PSSR then the base PS5 would suffer from even worse flicker given that it should run at a lower resolution.

yeh nope thats a lie.The base performance mode has similar flickering albeit much less than pro. So you are right, nothing other than PSSR would explain it being worse.
There is only a single 60fps mode on pro, no 30 fpsGonna go quality mode on ps5 pro most likely. I doubt the combat needs 60fps. If it's bad frame pacing though I'll go performance.

On UE5 hell is us and hellblade 2 have both great HDRHope so. UE5 HDR isn't exactly great on consoles, and it's pretty much not worth bothering with on Windows. I don't believe I've stuck with HDR on any UE5 game. Always switch back to standard.
On Series X/PS5. I haven't found a single instance where it was good on Windows. Even when doing user recommendations for the calibration. On UE5 hell is us and hellblade 2 have both great HDR
Ah yep I was talking about consoles, dont know about PCOn Series X/PS5. I haven't found a single instance where it was good on Windows. Even when doing user recommendations for the calibration.

Here's some PS5 Pro gameplay footage. Looks pretty solid IMO.
I think you were right the first time?It is an option on first playthrough, I was wrong - or rather I thought it was a different sort of difficulty mode.
On your first run through SHf, you can pick between Story or Hard mode for puzzle difficulty. Clear the game once to unlock an additional, harder difficulty called Lost in the Fog.
Is this game even using nanite, cause the asset quality looks pretty low imho.Man i dont know if its because i have literally just been playing Resi Evil 4 remake maxed out on PC but this looks very mid graphically.
I dont know but the reason why i mentioned it is because this will probably run way worse than Resi 4, while looking way worse. Is this game even using nanite, cause the asset quality looks pretty low imho.
It's a game made with Unreal Engine, so you can often improve its visual quality beyond the shipped in-game settings simply by editing the Engine.ini file available on PC. Shadows, ambient occlusion, ray tracing, draw distance, and other post effects are all up for grabs here to scale however high you want to take it.Man i dont know if its because i have literally just been playing Resi Evil 4 remake maxed out on PC but this looks very mid graphically.
Have any examples of this config tweaking making a really pedestrian game look eye popping? I don't think this game even needs to. The director set most the scenes in some gnarly grey overcast, so maybe it doesn't have to be a graphical powerhouse. I think the critique is that they could have achieved this with a much lower performance spec. Not seeing anything they couldn't have pulled off in CryEngine or even modern Source. If only Konami had an in-house engine that rhymed with Box Engine that had great performance characteristics. It's a game made with Unreal Engine, so you can often improve its visual quality beyond the shipped in-game settings simply by editing the Engine.ini file available on PC. While the core game assets will remain the same, I have no doubt this game can become even more visually stunning if you take the time to engage with what UE has to offer.
oh absolutely, games reaching that R1600 sometimes even R1800 price tag is insane.Steam price is very reasonable. Costs exactly double that amount on the Xbox store down here (PSN too), strange.
Same story with Metal Gear, wonder if Konami got tired of not getting sales in Africa.
It's difficult to justify buying new AAA titles when prices are flatly hard locked to the Dollar, especially with backlogs, affordable indies and deep sales of quality older titles.
Then myself and others are doing something wrong, as this hasn't been the case for me.HDR is exactly the same between PS5 and Windows 11.
I don't get why people talk about some bad HDR on PC, it's the same HDR10 standard.
It entirely depends on your monitor. There are many monitors out there with "fake" HDR or none at all. Then myself and others are doing something wrong, as this hasn't been the case for me.
Not a single instance have I found HDR on Win11 looks as good as it does on consoles.
Even with its issues, I'm sticking with Unreal Engine. Its ability to execute commands and change its presentation during runtime makes it uniquely flexible to a user's every whim. And it's so damn easy to do, too. That's something that I treasure. No other modern game engine is offering players that degree of control over their game's presentation.Have any examples of this config tweaking making a really pedestrian game look eye popping? I've had good luck with hdr on pc as well. Very rarely have I had issues. I can only think of one game I've played where it was a little buggy as far as when it would engage. RE8.Then myself and others are doing something wrong, as this hasn't been the case for me.

I don't care about the game...will pick it up on discount maybe.

All connected to my Sony OLED. My PC monitor is OLED and HDR, but the TV looks much better. Are you using the same screen?
I have PS5 Pro and PC connected to the same tv and use the same settings. HDR is the same i games that I tested.

This guy is doing good HDR analysis on all platforms and rarely there are differences between XSX, PS5 and PC.

how are people in US already streaming this as the early release is set for midnight tonight?
