Wade and Purvis writing again? Have they got dirt on the Broccoli's or something?

They write the most tedious, inane and cliche-ridden scripts, yet they keep getting asked back. Baffling.

They're the monkeys with typewriters and then they bring in a real writer to cherry-pick their good ideas/action sequence ideas into a coherent script.

As discussed in the other thread, they don't have much of a footprint themselves: They're there to do what Broccoli tells them to do. Sure they were behind one of the worst Bond movies ever, but also one of the best! Should tell you that they're just slaves and Logan will add the flourishes.

Yeah, but the difference from TND/TWINE/DAD to CR/QOS/SF is that they actually wrote TND/TWINE/DAD entirely. On CR, they had Fleming's source and Paul Haggis rewrote their script. On QOS, Paul Haggis rewrote their script. On SF, they have Peter Morgan's scriptment as the source and John Logan rewrote their script.

Now all we need is for Florence + Machine to do the title track and we are set !

Is there some rumor behind this or wishful thinking? Because with the exception of "Dog Days Are Over" I actually kind of like F+TM.

They won't even begin looking for a titles singer for another 6 months. its very much part of the post-production process.

Anything you hear is just rumors or wishful thinking.

I really love Naomie Harris. Great choice in casting her. She'll be only the second black woman to have a major role in a Bond movie.
Eh, depending on how you look at it, she's more like the third or fourth.

So, as for the casting, Fiennese as Blofield and Finney as Q? Works for me.

I didn't include people like Rosie from LALD. All she does is bone Bond and then die. Jinx and now Eve are really the only two substancial black female roles.

This will be the first time they've shot in China in a LONG time. If the rumors of a motorcycle chase on the Great Wall of China are true, holy fuck.

Yeah, Rosie is kind of iffy, but I'd consider Mayday to be pretty important within her film.

Shit, you're right. I tend to try and block out AVTAK. You're right though, she's the third substancial black female role.

Def wishful thinking / semi prediction
I think it will def be a woman and go back to traditional arrangements unlike the monstrosity of qos opening title track

Maybe they give Queen Shirley one last go at it for old times sake

They pretty much owe her that after choosing Alicia Keys/Jack Black's wretched "Another Way To Die" over her sublime "No Good About Goodbye" for QoS.

i'm surprised that the likes of javier bardem,Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney were pursued for this film

they should get actors that are more on craig's level like orlando bloom or steven seagal. otherwise he's bound to get shown up

Is "Another Way to Die" even about anything? "No Good About Goodbye" would have been perfect.

Marketing is such bull shit sometimes.

No Bond theme can ever outdo the shittiness of Madonna's "Die Another Day," though.

I would say No Good About Goodbye felt a bit pastiche-ish.. Another Way to Die is one of the weakest Bond themes, but not a tragedy when you get used to it. KD Lang's "Surrender" is a better ditched theme, but I actually think Sheryl Crow's TND, miraculously, is better, so I'm ok with it. Best end credits theme ever, though.

No complaints if they bring Bassey back, of course.

Bringing Chris Cornell in for CR was inspired. I hope whoever they pick for SF is as note perfect for that theme and movie as Cornell and "You Know My Name" were.

Also, they had better not farm the credits sequence out to MK12 again. QoS was a double titles failure - poor song and mediocre credits.

Don't like Chris Cornell or his theme, works ok on the credit sequence, but Die Another Day is miles better as a song. Underrated just because it's old hag Madonna and a shitty movie.

You are the Die Another Day of trolls. You started out well but now you're parasailing on an iceberg.

i'll take that as a compliment. even die another day musting seem amazing to a fan of the daniel craig films

he is such a terrible actor though, and a terrible bond as well. it baffles me that anyone could conisder him otherwise

The single best thing about DAD is how the credits continue the narrative.

It's exciting thinking about possible new directions the Skyfall title sequence can take... I'm too much of a Bond nerd.

Well you can't blame them too
much for hiring Craig - Dennis Franz was obviously their first choice but I guess he was too busy to play Bond

Skyfall sounds like it could be a remake of Goldeneye... or at least share many elements of it... a direct-sequel perhaps?

they should have tried harder. even sean connery and pierce brosnan wouldn't have stood up to him

They'll take from the novel source material for sure. There really isn't even much nostalgia attached to Goldeneye.

Its interesting to hear Mendes say he wants to do a second if SF is well-received. Directors have done more than one Bond in the past, but I don't ever recall one saying they wanted to do another before shooting a single frame of the first.

Yeah, she's a stunner.

Eva Green, Olga Kurylenko, and now Berenice. Goddamn Craig is getting some fine ladies.

Olga in partucular I find to be one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Solo, Don't forget Caterina Murino. A throw away character But lovely, lovely assets.

I'd love to roll around on the floor with her.

Agreed 100%. Don't forget Gemma Arterton though... Although, I happen to find every Bond girl chosen for each of the new Bond films to be some of the most gorgeous women in the world.

Although Berenice is really starting to tread on Olga's territory... 'cause holy shit.

Skyfall sounds interesting. Sam Mendes is a good director, so it'll be interesting to see where he can take it. I seriously hope the pacing and style is similar to Casino Royale, though. Martin Campbell knew exactly where to draw the line between action and drama without really focusing too much on one. If Mendes can actually pace the film right with a well written script, I have very high hopes for this film.

Besides, the cast is absolutely insane! That might be the best Bond cast ever.

I was thinking about it, and I would like it if they went back and did a pre-titles sequence completely unrelated to the movie like in the old days. The haven't done that since A View To A Kill some 25 years ago. All of Dalton's, Brosnan's and Craig's (so far) movies have had pre-titles sequences which were directly tied to the narrative.

I kinda like both the song and the credits for Quantum of Solace. If nothing else, you've got to admire MK12 for making a zoetrope out of silhouettes of naked women.

FnordChan, completely stoked for Skyfall

Wow. Craig is looking really old.

Well, he is 43. And even at 33, his face looked much older than that. Don't care though, the man rocks and he's still in amazing shape. Unlike Connery, Moore and Brosnan, we'll never see a fat Daniel Craig Bond.

Pierce Brosnan in PJs with a gigantic beer gut hanging out in DAD still haunts my dreams.

In SKYFALL, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
HYPE. M is such a HBIC.
