Protagonist is trash, nothing to do with gender or race, everything to do with she's straight up unlikeable (based on that trailer). Thing is, ultimately doesn't matter to me. This is Naughty Dog, they make games that are special from Crash to Jak & Daxter to Uncharted to The Last of Us, they deliver the goods every single time, GOTY-tier games without fail, a few that are even on the GOAT shortlist (TLoU1, UC2).
So while I'm not a fan of this character (to put it mildly) I know the game will be out of this world, quite literally! Day 1. Can't wait to see everyone hating on it now be there on release day, handing over their money and eating crow

Same. I’m not threatened by diversity but I can be distracted by it. Still looking forward to it and hope they mature it up a little with Jordan Mun. But hey let’s see what druckman does with it.

I was looking forward to ND's next game, but not interested in Intergalactic anymore.
Trailer was a huge disapointment. The bald girl character is among the most unlikeable video game characters I've ever seen.
They should just have picked Karen Fukuhara for the role. Everyone likes her.
The game would have sold gangbusters.
Imagine all the cars the management could be buying from that success.

I need to know more but it's a ND game so it has an advantage. I was amped for TLOU2 but didn't buy it because of the story and what they did to Joel.

Haven't seen anywhere near enough to make that decision, but the first impression isn't all that great for me. I wanted to see something a little more imaginative and fresh.

I wasn't interested in ND's new game, and still isn't after reveal of Intergalactic.
I stopped playing Uncharted 3 about halfway through and then tried out TLOU a few years after release (PS3), dropped it when I was forced to walk slow and learn how to carry a ladder.
Needless to say, I did not plan on playing whatever Naughty Dogs new IP was going to be.

Got to pick a darker skinned character following the trail of BLM from 4.5 years ago. And not Latinos or Indians. The dont seem to count much when it comes to media or gaming characters even though Hispanics are by far the biggest minority group in the US.

I honestly do not mind the bald soldier-looking chic protagonist. I am not Naughty Dog's biggest fan. I believe this game will be heavily inspired by souls (1 difficulty, consequences of death, etc.). No souls/souls-like has clicked with me, I have just stopped buying games that I cannot complete. So, I will most likely not buy this game.

My girlfriend is 9 years younger, athletic and has a masters degree in Mathematics.
She stopped playing WoW one year before me because she said the writing is getting super dumb. She played a Blood Elf with sexy armor.
The modern audience doesn't exist. Even women are sick of this woke shit.

Even when it comes to singers and actresses, same thing. Super popular ones are good looking hotties. If women shunned good looking women, all the concert sell outs and blockbuster movies would be ugly or normal looking women. Nope. Taylor Swift is good looking. Look at all the people attending her concerts paying scalped ticket prices. Probably 90%+ are female.
Glamour mags also have hot women dolled up on the cover. That's what women buy because they love seeing good looking women too, or how to be like one.

The main character's design and attitude are all I need to know. I will no longer reward games that push ideological agendas which I vehemently oppose, no matter how good they are in terms of graphical presentation, production value and even gameplay.
I don't care if the protagonist of a game is a woman or non-white, but if you go out of your way to make that woman ugly and masculine with a smug, shitty attitude to boot, well then you can count me out. Nobody likes a smug, arrogant main character, that role is reserved for the bad guys or a good guy side character that will get humbled at some point and grow from it. Girl-boss characters never grow, cause they're designed as being perfect and never vulnerable, so they stay smug and shitty the whole way through, never needing anybody's help.
I see it as much more of a problem in videogames than in movies, since in games you're actually embodying the main character rather than passively watching them. Why would anybody want to play as a character who is ugly both inside and out?

Naughty Dog very likely have had TLOU Part 3 in pre-production for a year or two by now and would be ready to move that into full production as Intergalactic winds down and is near shipping. As they're a multi-project studio and TLOU Online is no longer on their plate and they've stated they've got multiple single player games in dev, there's also a decent chance they've got the new Uncharted game going in-house as well, or at least in partnership with another studio. They were working with Bend on it up until early 2021 when Bend asked to do their own IP. Shaun Escayg (director of Uncharted Lost Legacy) came back to the studio immediately afterwards and he did work on TLOU Part 1 which shipped mid-2022, and we have no idea what he's been working on since. He doesn't seem to be tied to Intergalactic and TLOU Part 3 is no doubt gonna be Neils project, so I find it highly probable that what we'll see from ND next is Intergalactic, Uncharted and then TLOU Part 3.

Your girlfriend reaction was a logical one not like the ones i have been reading on this thread. I dont care about the modern audiences. The character likeness is based on a real woman. If you dont like her looks that is fine. But starting shit about wokeness just for that is dumb.

As always, depends on how good the game is / turning out to be.
Need to see a lot more gameplay before finalizing that purchase decision. But it is Naughty Dog that has never missed for me. It'll most likely be another iconic game and a GOTY nomination. So I'm super interested but need to see more before finally purchasing it.

You're kinda right. Naughty Dog has many developers who are woke. That much is clear. In this particular case, that actress is real. They got her likeness (and her voice) as is. They had already worked with her on Uncharted, so it is more likely that they really liked her performance.
Now had they hired a "traditionally beautiful" actress like Sydney Sweeney and then removed her hair and made her look like this, then it would have deserved all the criticism.
