Sonic Lost World Launches on Steam November 2nd.

O_O!

Damn....that is a surprise out of nowhere!

I guess Sonic Team is giving PC gamers the next main-line Sonic to tide them over until the 25th Anniversary game comes out next year.

Very odd choice, but looking forward to seeing PC footage; should look fantastic at higher resolutions :).

This actually wildly incorrect. Port-begging is only forbidden in certain situations, like going to a Wii U exclusive thread and ask for a port.

This is a thread about a PC Port of a SEGA game, asking for other ports of SEGA games is entirely reasonable, even if misguided like the Bayonetta 2 example, since that's for all purposes a Nintendo game.

then i live :p
joined GAF for a long time but I still don't understand some rules around here -_-

Why does everyone want Sonic Colors? It had really crappy physics, especially in the 2D sections which seemed to make up a majority of the game.

Generations was muuuuch better.

I played the Lost World demo and didn't like it at all. No idea why it's being ported over Bayonetta 1, Vanquish, Dreamcast Classics etc. I guess Sonic is the more recognizable character, but does the Steam audience really care?

That's not my point. My point is that if you're willing to torrent and or rip things, you can get all sorts of games running on a PC, but there's still value in being able to purchase them legitimately.

This applies to sonic lost world, as well

Yes? When have I suggested otherwise?

Yesterday, I could play sonic colors on my pc and I couldnt play lost world. In the future, I can play both.

That holds more value than in the future being able to play sonic colors in two different configurations and not being able to play sonic lost world at all.

Generations has been on steam for 5 years.

Yeah, so my point is that PC already has the better game.

A lot of people in this thread have been saying that Colors is the best recent Sonic game, and I'm not sure where that opinion comes from.

(Plus, if you REALLY want to play Colors, Dolphin exists)

Good luck with this conversation because I'm clearly not part of it anyway. :D

Do you know how opinions work?

Lost World isn't a bad game at all, I rather enjoyed it despite the glaring flaws. I'm happy that more people will get to try it for themselves and the modding community will be able to have a go at fixing it's issues.

Its issues, if the community fixes that game, it would be... at that point another game entierly.

Then again, that almost what generations is on pc now, but with lack of a character select screen. And that is a good game.

The core of it really is sound. It's just that the level design falls apart rather quickly in it.

It's weird how it almost seems to fight its own best elements, generally by doing some decidedly unwelcome, half-baked mechanics hopping.

I'd rather like seeing them giving it another go, but they've had a winning formula before and then promptly waggled away from it like a toddler.

Should be Sonic Colors which is actually a good game and easily one of the best 3D Sonics if not the best.

...Is it well playable on Dolphin?

Anyway, Lost World is definitely better than what most reviews make it look like. Many reviewers just suck and they weren't even trying to hide it in their videos.

Well I am glad I didn't buy it on Wii U. I'll probably wait till it's at or under $20 CAN though, not really feeling a double dip on All Stars Transformed.

Also Colors has a lovely 60 FPS hack on Dolphin, it worked well for me.

Let me do everyone a solid.

Don't buy this game. It's crap.

I guess it's not sonic boom at least, but that's the only "praise" I can give it.

The level design is the games biggest flaw. Everything else works, but is let down by damn terrible levels. Unless they mod in a whole new set of much better levels, modders can't do much for the game.

I wasted my hard earned money on the Wii U version

look guys, just don't buy it at full price. wait for a sale when it's $5 or cheaper. what a shit game. fuck, I'm mad thinking about it. if you equate a dollar per hour spent, you may not even get $5 worth.

music is fucking amazing which is what'd you expect from a Sega game tho

Seconding this.
Looking at my youtube playthrough of the game, it took me about 4 hours to get from start to finish.

And I hated everything after the first hour. Yuck.

It's pretty good on Dolphin. You may have to spend a few minutes to tweak it, but I've put a stupid amount of time in it there.

I liked what I played of it, but I do understand this was one of the more controversial titles that got a big love it/hate it reaction, and not as much praise as Colors or Generations before it. But in earnest, I didn't think it was a bad game, but also I didn't beat it and had been waiting for something like this, and I know people say the second half isn't as good as the first half, so is what it is.

Post-patch, this was actually a pretty good game. The run mechanic wasn't perfect, but it was still a fresh take on Sonic that wasn't all that bad. Might be even better now that the wisps are no longer motion control/touch screen at all.
