Sonic Lost World Launches on Steam November 2nd.

I'm amazed at how many people, on this forum specifically where things like these have been discussed ad infinitum (see all the unnecessary confusion over Phil Spencer and Tomb Raider), still don't get it.

Third-party exclusives where the third party owns the IP and retains the publishing rights are always effectively timed. Whether that third party thinks it worthwhile to take advantage of the exclusivity agreement's expiry and invest in releasing ports is a different matter, and depends on their own internal cost-benefit analysis. Remember the Capcom Five?

There's no abandonment going on here when print runs of the Wii U Sonic games likely ended quite a while ago, and it may have been in Sega's interests to release on Steam whether the original Wii U release covered costs or not. The DLC involving Nintendo IP, meanwhile, will certainly remain exclusive to the Wii U.

Don't pre-purchase the game yet if you don't live in the UK.

According to the press release the price in Europe should be €22.99, and the price in the US should be $24.99. Right now it's €29.99 in Europe and $29.99 in the US, so the price will likely be lowered soon.

The price is fine if you live in the UK though. There it's £19.99 like it's supposed to be.

Sonic Colours on Wii was a good game.

Lost World is simply bad.

Do you know what "bad" means?

Sonic Boom is bad.

Sonic 06 is bad.

Sonic lost world is actually pretty okay, minus a handful of poorly designed levels and garbage gamepad nonsense (but this goes for *any* WiiU game that uses the gamepad)

But sure, 4 or 5 bad stages out of 40+ means it's all bad. kay

Neat. Here's hoping other SEGA games get the same treatment.

I wonder if it's possible to port Sonic Colors over and get it running at 60fps.

Liked this one on Wii U. On 3DS while it wasn't as good, I still liked the fact that they made something quite similar to the Wii U game. It looked quite good, better on Wii U of course. Quite imaginative.

The free DLC was a cool touch. The Zelda and NiGHTs levels at least. Yoshi's looked good, but the gameplay was kinda..meh.

Super rad! Always psyched to see console locked games come to PC for longevity.

The art style could really hold up at high resolutions.

I have it on Wii U already but hell yeah I'll be getting this! I'm one of the few that really liked the game at release. If we get mods for this like the Unleashed lighting one in Gens, that'll make it all the better.

I still need to beat the original. It's a serviceable game. It can be frustrating at times but it's still a pretty original and fun game.

This actually wildly incorrect. Port-begging is only forbidden in certain situations, like going to a Wii U exclusive thread and ask for a port.

This is a thread about a PC Port of a SEGA game, asking for other ports of SEGA games is entirely reasonable, even if misguided like the Bayonetta 2 example, since that's for all purposes a Nintendo game.

Port Begging destroyd the conversation and brings it nowhere and THAT is why it is forbidden.

Port DISCUSSION, with actual arguments and well written and not just "ps3 port please" can actualy add to the conversation and is allowed.

Yoshi & Zelda DLC included?

Of course not.

But then again Generations didn't come out with Unleashed daytime levels so it is a matter of time.

The Sonic community is huge and they love a challenge

I like to think the DLC will have ended up being left in the game files and some modder will bring it all out.

Doesn't need to be left in. Looks like modders already ripped it out and it will probably be incorporated into the game eventually.

I thought Nintendo paid for this, Sonic Boom, and the Olympic game to be exclusive to their platforms.

It´s not like this hasn't happened before

I'd rather they attempt to make a new game like Generations instead of re-releasing this trash again. So glad I managed to sell it for a decent amount of money for DK instead.

Neat! Wanted to get this game but I didn't want to get a Wii U to try it out. Completely unexpected move by Sega! Prolly won't get it Day 1 however.

This is bull, Wii U ver was a good game. 3DS ver is the worst sonic game I have played.

I'd rather play LW 3DS than Boom 3DS that's for sure.

This game has a ton of different issues, but to me the parts that are good are ten times more fun than Colors. The mechanics are awesome, it's the hit and miss level design that drags this in the muck.

We just need someone to make custom stages and were set.

Edit: also some wisps suck.

Everything after world 2 was mediocre to bad. So 25-30 bad stages out of 40+ is bad.

I honestly liked most of the levels in Lost World, I don't know why people say the level design falls apart. I managed through the later levels just fine. Many were very "trial and error", but certainly not outright bad.

Sonic Lost World is a decent game but you're really reaching, posting that image.

Game is legit. The only downside to the Wii U version is, as mentioned, the touchpad Wisp shit, which shouldn't be an issue for the PC version. I'd rate some of the levels as among the best in the series.

I actually think it's one of the best Sonic games, period, but I keep quiet about that.

Just to share from Sonic Retro:

And a really excellent mod to the Wii U version already, Whomp's Fortress:

There's already a modding scene?

Urge to pick this up Day 1 is rising hnnnnggg

The base gameplay is pretty good actually. I think the bigger issue with the game was its' level design, which isn't going to be a huge issue if the modding community picks it up.

Easier said than done. As great as the modding community was for Generations, most of the additional levels were taken from other Sonic games. That being said, it shouldn't be as hard to design levels for Lost World due to how much simpler the level design is and the engine's similarities to Generations.

But even then the level designer would actually have to be good at designing levels and would need to have the free time to redesign the base levels..

lolwat.

Lost World is an alright game. It had some problems but man the gameplay felt great in the like three levels that were actually designed around your abilities.

I don't know what people see in the core gameplay either, to be honest. Jumps are super weird, spindash is simultaneously brokenly good and awkward to use, most of the new Wisps are gimmicks, the whole way momentum works feels like a Mario game more than Sonic (especially with the presence of a run button).

I'll be honest, I bought it on Wii U, liked it but 100%ed so fast it really disappointed me so I returned it.
It really feels this game was rushed.
Worst level was one of the Casino one.

I guess we'll see, I never meant to say it's an easy task, but I feel like there are some creative people out there and the chance of them designing levels around Lost World's gameplay is enough to get me excited about it.

This game is fucking awesome (post-patch). I'm under the impression it did surprisingly well for a Wii U game so hopefully the PC version does alright so we can see another game in the same style.
