Sony confirms: more first party games to PC

Member when GAF told me that putting games on PC was admitting defeat and a sign of leaving the console space and Sony would never ever do that and that Horizon coming to PC was evil nasty FUD that should get you banned, and that then Horizon would for sure be the only one?

Never change SonyGaf

It's the best way for Sony to charge me twice as I will definitely double dip.

Imagine having the last of us 1 and 2 and god of war on steam!

I think you'll see GOW coming to PC right before releasing GOW2 on PS5, just like what they're doing now with HZD. Competition outside PlayStation is pretty shy, any PS4 would make PC gamers go crazy.

If there's one thing that im curious about is how their games designed around their I/O are going to work on PC?

Simpler games at best, but it's more than likely it'll be just like HZD, old PS4 games. Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, TLOU1/2, GOW, Days Gone, and lots of PS4 games can scale pretty nicely on PC, and still keep PS5 exclusives closer to your chest.

That's most likely for games like Destruction Allstars, probably some free to play games. Or refined, old PS4 games just like HZD. PC isn't ready for PS5-oriented games.
Sony's first party games aren't ready for PC, no. That should be a no-brainer.
PC could strouggle with Series X games as well if MS wanted it to;-)

It says they will explore it. That's all. They haven't announced any other game aside from HZD and none of the new games are even being hinted at.

If I were Sony I would port PS4 games. Let them get a second lease. It won't affect their PS5 business.

Also multiplayer focused games should be PS5/PC to have bigger userbase.

I told people that there would be more months ago. There will be more. There is no 'exploration'.

haha Sony won't burn their brand as Microsoft did.

They've seen what happened to xbox console sales when they've jumped to PC, now they killed X1X recently as well. No one really cares if old PS4 games go to PC, it's healthy to bring back the price up to $50, while being $15-10 on PS5.

eh this is gonna blow up in their face. will take resources away from first party studios who are already taking 5-6 years making one game. They need to give people a reason to buy a PS5 and if the hardcore see the games are coming to the PC, why would they invest in the ps5? everyone who didnt buy an xbox one this gen needs to ask themselves this.

maybe they have done the research and crunched the numbers. maybe the hardcore wont switch. But i see this blowing up in their face just like the MS exclusives going to PC blew up in their face as they have struggled to sell the xbox one in the tail end of this gen.

Then there is the SSD. This mythical ssd that is supposedly better than anything in PC right now. Would sony devs be forced to pair down the ssd utilization because they now have to support slower ssds on PC? is that why we are seeing games mostly use the ssd for loading? aside from ratchet, i dont see anything that is utilizing the ssd for graphics or game design. this could be one reason why.

Good idea. They should just port the older PS4 games like they did on HZD. It should bring even more people to the PS5.

I can't see them make any port before 2 or 3 years after game releases though, wouldn't make sense for their business. After 2 or 3 years though, it wouldn't matter for PS5 sales, no PS5 fan would wait that long to get the game anyway.

That's too long to wait. They want profits.

I think the games should come to PC... At least 2 years after PS5. If anything PC users have shown a tremendous appetite for buying old PS exclusives at full price.

I told people that there would be more months ago. There will be more. There is no 'exploration'.

By giving PC gamers second rate ports like Horizon Zero Dawn. Most of Sonys focus will be on their consoles not PCs. Unless they change in the future of course.

Yeah sure... at the rate they go about it there isn't going to be a single acquisition for the entire generation.

They didn't acquire QD, RaD... Whoever is making these decisions at Sony is living under the illusion that just because they are Sony they deserve a discount.

It's ridiculous honestly. What are they waiting for? AAA studios aren't going to be cheaper in the future.

I agree - porting PS4 games cannot in any way cannibalise PS5 sales. But they need to do a better job at porting than the HZD debacle, and their pricing is a touch high as well.

So basically they'll still advertise their PS4 games as exclusives until the very last moment to sell more consoles and when they have no use for them they are going to announce PC version.

There is nothing there says PS5 games, it's only old games for those thirsty gamers who didn't taste quality games. :lollipop_tears_of_joy: Even Rockstar put PC gamers in the back seat with their RDR2.

This is good news, i will support them by buying there good games and console. Anybody that gets upset about this can fuck off.

I don't think that they will launch Ghost of Tsushima or TLU2 on pc right now... But please Sony, release Motorstorm Pacific Rift!

Motorstorm on pc with better resolution and frames would be a dream!

I told people that there would be more months ago. There will be more. There is no 'exploration'.
Of course there will be more. Too many people buy a PS and just some (2nd hand) exclusive games. Sony doesn't make money with those customers (in some cases they even lose money). They want you to buy 3rd party games and PS Plus, but why should a Pc owner do so? They have free online gaming + cheaper 3rd party games and depending on the pc the games even look or run better.

They need to hire better people for the ports. HZD PC port launched in an unacceptable state, I agree.

I can assure you that no PS5 games will port to PC. All they are saying is that some beloved PS exclusives will end up on the PC.
It's all about the < PS5 area of games.

If stuff like Bloodborne was to get a PC release, honestly why would Sony fans be upset and why would PC fans gloat? It'll be coming to PC 6 years after release. That's insane. If the price of playing Sony 1st party games on PC is to wait 4, 5 or even 6 years then OK but I don't think too many people are going to be upset about it for feel "betrayed".

You mention "old" like they are games from the 1990s. HZD is barely 3yrs old and this decision to port was more recent than that. They didn't know they was going to be allowed to port to PC. TLOU2 is coming. And that's not old at all.

So basically they'll still advertise their PS4 games as exclusives until the very last moment to sell more consoles and when they have no use for them they are going to announce PC version.
If you bought a PS4 in 2015 under the promise that Bloodborne was only going to be playable on the PS4 and then 6 years later it releases on PC then you'd have to be a moron to think "FUCK! I'VE BEEN LIED TO, I SHOULD HAVE WAITED 6 YEARS AND BOUGHT IT ON PC"

Translation
We gonna release older titles to promote newer titles for you to buy on PS5
Exactly. They will hook users with last gen offerings and they say PS5 is the only place play the sequels/ new ones. Then, when ps5 will be on the way out, they will release ps5 games on PC and the cycle shall continue.

If they release later for pc it makes sense. Incentive for people to get a PlayStation for exclusives and business wise release later on pc to get that install base money.

He was not the first, far from it. Rumours for both Horizon and Bloodborne had been around for a very long time.

I confirmed those rumors last year when the consoles were announced. And yes, I did receive a LOT of backlash for it. I was only stating what was told to me but it somehow came across as me trying to cause trouble.

If Sony put all their exclusives on PC I'd happily never buy another console again. But I'm sure that reasoning is exactly why they won't.

Far from being upset, I think this is great news and can't wait to see the best version of Sony exclusives on PC.

Old = PS4 going forward. I can see many PS4 exclusives coming to PC eventually, it's actually smart.
