Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I think I'm fairly useless without my bombs. I definitely would have a lot more trouble forcing Red off of his tower without them. =P Next time I hop on, I'm gonna experiment with different Chargers. This guy seems to aim really well, but I'm sure he would have trouble dealing with the scenario you mentioned. After all, he has no offensive projectiles.
Violet uses a charger with a mine as a sub. He's gotten me many times with that mines, but I'm not sure how well red or other rollers deal with it. Have you played the campaign? There might be a decent charger that comes from the boss scroll.

The three Japanese guys from the aquarium who made this game (as I like to call them after last year's Digital Event) must be really happy with the response. Must feel amazing to helm the first new character-driven IP from EAD since Pikmin in 2001.

Hopefully Nintendo pays them some good money, cause concerning the online acitivity it must be a good start

I'm only on World 2 of the campaign. I think you have a point with the mines, but still. Then again, he has sick aim when he's on a roll. He's using the Classic Squiffer, which has that Echolocation sub and Bubbler special. He's pretty great with it. I'd like to see how he deals with the tower.

One on One Charger duels are so tense. Just watching a good one puts me on the edge of my seat.

I don't think Nintendo rewards good ideas with money, since it's expected of each employee to bring good ideas. But these guys might get promoted, or the garage project might be given a larger importance internally in the company (as a tool to develop new kinds of gameplay). Or something.

So the makers of the official guide got some sample loadouts from the testers. Here's what the testers recommended:

Short-Mid Range: Rapid Fire
Rec. Weapons: Jr., Aerosprays, Tentatek Splattershot
Rec. Gear:
Clothing: Ninja Squid
Shoes: Ink Resistance Up
Headgear: Defense Up

Long Range: Rapid Fire
Rec. Weapons: .52 Gal, Pro, Jet Squelcher, Dual Squelchers
Rec. Gear:
Clothing: Run Speed Up
Shoes: Ink Resistance Up
Headgear: Ink Saver (Main)

Roller
Rec. Weapons: A roller
Rec. Gear:
Clothing: Ninja Squid
Shoes: Stealth Jump
Headgear: Ink Saver (Main)

Long Range: High-Damage
Rec. Weapons: Splat, Kelp Splat, Scope, Kelp Scope
Rec. Gear:
Clothing: Ninja Squid
Shoes: Ink Resistance Up
Headgear: Ink Saver (Main)

Close-Quarter: Blaster
Rec. Weapons: A blaster
Rec. Gear:
Clothing: Ninja Squid
Shoes: Bomb Sniffer
Headgear: Damage Up
NOTE: Alternative suggestion is Bomb Sniffer -> Ink Resistance Up and Damage Up -> Defense Up

Found it interesting.

Beat the final boss.
The last stretch is frustrating for two reasons:
1) You fall. A lot. This can cause you to restart the whole thing
2) The very final three hits are really hard. The octotrooper there is really annoying. Plus, the very final hit is really hard to do, because you got to spin around fast to get it, which is fucking hard with Splatoon's default controls.
That being said, someone shop
an octopus DJ
into my avatar. He's now with Ridley as my most wanted Smash newcomer.
Spin? Gyro should be easy with that.

I'm really struggling on that map tonight

The mines are annoying but easy to jump away from, especially when you have been doing it all night.

Well isnt a promotion most times a increase in pay too?

Fully upgraded school uniform! Thanks, Spyke. Fairly pleased with the rolls. Might reroll the shoes.

The US Splatoon tumblr mentions that you can 'yeah' people Miiverse art using first person view in Inkopolis, but it says first person view has another use too. Does anyone know what it is?

All I've found is that you can look in on the Squid Sisters from the window and they'll wave at you, but they seem to do that if you or any guests in your plaza are standing there.

So, what's the feeling on Splatoon as a single player only game?

Single-player is excellent. The game feels so good to play, and the level design, contraptions, enemies, etc., are all very well-done. And the final boss is possibly the best I've ever seen in a Nintendo game (and by extension, most games in general).

All of that, combined with the game feel, makes it something I will replay again and again. To me, it feels like just the right length. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and it invites extra playthroughs.

Agreed on all points. And if you're an amiibo collector those should add longevity to the single player.
But really, give multiplayer a chance. A lot of people who aren't normally into competitive shooters or online multiplayer are loving Splatoon's turf wars.

But especially this. I rarely play shooters, and almost never on console, never competitive multiplayer modes. I typically dislike competitive multiplayer in most games (I even play Smash mostly offline solo) but I'm really loving Splatoon, even Turf Wars. I probably won't do much ranked play if any, but Turf Wars are just good fun.

I was just about to ask if you could reroll stats on clothing. How do you go about doing that?

At level 20 Spyke gives you the option to add 1 slot to a piece of gear with less than 3 sub-abilities or reroll all of the slots on a gear with full slots.

Costs 30,000g each time unless you have a super sea snail.

Even jellyfish get racially profiled.

In going to call it a night the last few games have been lagging a little for me. GGs everybody!

It looked like we had a room full of GAFfers for a while.

Haha, I was dancing around the triangle arowana mall advertisement in circles with an opponent for a good 3 or so seconds before I got him; so funny.
