Stay fresh!

Holy shit that miiverse post.

I'm level 12 now, and I've tried the various weapons and no matter what I keep coming back to the first gun, the splattershot jr with bubble shield. I simply do better with it, consistently. I have tried to move on but nothing ends up working out as well.

I am loving the Miiverse posts for this game quite a bit. Does Japan not use the Miiverse as much as other regions or are the Miiverses separated by regions? I don't think I have seen any drawings even though I see Japanese players in the plaza.

But that pretty much never happens in SplatZone because the area is so insanely small that all the concentrated fire makes hiding in the ink impossible.

only if you're playing IN the area. Leave that to the grunts and hang around the sides, picking off/distracting people heading into the fray

i hate to tell you, but there's no sticky aim in this game

There really is. If I stand on a ledge and adjust my aim slightly towards ground on the other side, it'll almost always go down to the edge of where I'm standing. Sticky aim might be the wrong name if we're being pedantic, but there's absolutely no question that there's something of that ilk in place.

mother fuck i squid jumped into an inkstrike. I saw the missile go up as I was careening through the air... "That's not good..."

I donno...I'd be lying if I said Splatzones were really doing it for me. If not for the ranks, I definitely wouldn't be playing it. Something about it is just frustrating in a way the other mode isn't.

oh, that's standard third-person shooter disconnect because the gun model is firing projectiles from a place in 3d space forward of the camera

yeah that sucks

So there's no way of turning it off? Annoying. I don't play many third-person shooters (Nintendo doesn't get many) so maybe that's why it's so noticeable to me. Then again, it never happened in Resident Evil 4, which I played a few months ago, so who knows. Either way, it's a pain - although admittedly, a fair number of the kills I do make are probably attributable to it sticking onto an enemy rather than any consistent precision on my end.

I'm only playing it because it's faster xp, but it really isn't worth it.

Yeah. I donno. They take a game that is almost never frustrating becauae you almost always feel like you're making progress (turf war) and then turn it into a mode where there's a lot more frustration (down time due to having to get to the splat zone, only really making progress when you control it). I'd rather see a ranked turf war mode, or at least see it put into the rotation.

you probably never shot off too many ledges, since that's where it's most noticable. It's not a case of turning it off - it's simply due to the way that the camera/reticle is positioned behind a 3d model in space but projectiles are coming from the 3d model. If you're aiming down over a ledge, but the 3d model is not in the same place as the camera, the reticle is attempting to show that you can't physically fire 'through' the ledge since that is out of the LOS of the character model .

at least I think that's what's happening

on splat zone in the skatepark I camped in squid form in the corner of the zone and just killed anyone who tried to take it... got 4-5 kills before I was inkstriked

Wow, getting past B- feels impossible.

So far I kinda hate saltspray. Once a competent team takes over the back platform area its essentially over.

Overall though splat zones have really grown on me. As I got up to C and B matches, they are definitely much more intense and contested. I had a lot of games that were won in overtime. Not sure how I feel about the clock counting down faster in overtime though, feels pretty cheap.
