Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

So I posted this in the Amiibo thread and really didn't get any responses. I wonder if anybody who has the Squid can comment on the perceive slantness of the one in the Left/Top package, thanks.

Anyway I ordered a Splatoon 3-pack from Walmart. When I went to Best Buy to get the game they had some 3-packs and with my GCU I got 20% off I got the one that looked the best.

I want to open the one with the best quality figures. The only paint imperfections I really notice is that one girl has the shoelace loops not fully painted and a very tiny piece of pink below the loops. While the other girl seems to have a more rough looking suction cup under her left hair. It also looks like the Squid in the package above/left is shifted more to the right than usual.

If any Amiibo experts can weigh in I'll appreciate it.

I'm holding off on moving forward in the campaign until I can do the Amiibo challenges and upgrade my weapons.
you can't do certain challenges until you beat the campaign I believe. The end of each batch of challenges ends with a boss from the campaign. Also, the slant of the squid figure shouldn't be there unless there's something off in the packaging but I'm not super sure. I'm looking at my squid right now and he's basically upright like your other one.

I keep feeling like I'm getting a hang of Splat Zones only to quickly feel like it's just plain luck. I donno. I'm gonna keep at it but there's a lot that just feels kind of luck based.

Especially when you finally get through all your penalty points, start losing real points, and then immediately the other team takes control and your penalty points become high as shit again. Like what the hell? What the hell is the reason for that?

A penalty for losing control and a way to extend the match time so that it might actually last 3 minutes sometimes. I guess it's also a way to make sure that the deserving team wins instead of by luck.

If you can hold out that long without losing control, you deserve the win.

Man, even at B+ I'm pretty sure I get worse teammates than in regular matches.

Which is saying something, considering my last regular match had two people under 200p.

It's a comeback mechanic. Gives the other team a chance to fight for the zone and get ahead before you can bring your points to 0 and it works both ways.

Penalty points feel like such an excessive thing sometimes. On top of fighting to regain control, we gotta hold it for extra long now because..?

I'm really not a fan of ranked just due to the way the online is setup. There's a massive impact the team markup makes(seeing 3x rollers with you), no way of changing your loadout, no way of communicating or joining friends. It's a mode I'd like to actually play with people, but as-is I feel really disheartened by it.

I don't mean when it normally happens. I mean when you literally lose 30 penalty points, 2 regular points, than immediately go back to 30 penalty points. If you only lose 2 normal points, you shouldn't have to do the whole fucking 30 again. It can make really close games lose their closeness in a really unfair and unfun way. Happened to me twice tonight.

Wait, seriously? How do they use the roller in high rank?
They jump side ways and shoot it so it's hard to hit them and they kill you in one shot that's why you need distant weapons. All of them have the ninja squid so you don't see them approaching. They also have the fast special skill and spend most of the match getting their special up then attacking the splat zones as krakens.
What do you classify as high rank? I've gotten to B- on nothing but Aerospray.
A rank tier.

I like that it forces you to play differently. You have to adapt your play style instead of just switching weapons to fit the situation.

It's range is stupid close to the base Charger.
The range on that dual squelcher :o
It's range is wonderful and I love it. The only issue is more people are starting to use it.

cos you lost the point so the other team can get it back, fool! splat zone is already a pubstomp 3/4 times, you want to make it even more of one?

that's not what's happening. If the zone becomes contested, if you re-acquire the zone before the other team does, you won't get your penalty points back; however, if they cap the zone (NOT JUST CONTEST IT), they'll reset your penalty points.

So don't let them cap the zone!

that's what I'm talking about though. If they cap it right away it completely resets the penalty points even if you only got 2 or 3 real points from it. Its unfair as shit and really unfun.

Well yeah, you let them cap the zone. DON'T LET THEM CAP THE ZONE.

like, what, you want to be rewarded for letting them cap the zone?

Just keep pecking at the opponent's zone while defending your own. They're too spread out to cover both unless your really good with e liter or something.

I played defense on my zone earlier tonight and let my team attack the other zone. I would send an Inkstrike to assist when possible. I enjoyed the distance between zones since it mixed it up from the other maps. Totally different approach.

No but its extreme punishment for what is ultimately just unfortunate timing. The punishment should be based on how many normal points you earned, not on how far into them you are.

Like its 74 75. We each have 30 penalty points. We lose ours, then lose 2 regular points. Then they take cap it again, and its 72 75 and each team still has about 30 penalty points. We lost two real points and the game is basically tied still despite doing 30 points worth of work. Its bullshit. Thats happened like twice today and it was a complete buzzkill each time.

Well yeah guess what? You're not playing well enough to break the tie, so you're not gonna break the tie. Who'd've thought? Weird huh? Don't let them cap the freaking point!

The whole point of the mechanism is to make it so you don't cap the point, hold it for a measly 2 seconds and score a victory with the other team having no chance whatsoever of a breakthrough because there's only so much you can do in 2 seconds. So the lower your remaining timer, the higher the penalty points! If you think it's unfun this way, imagine how it will be breaking an enemy's hold, and then they cap the point, and before you've even realised they've capped the point they win instantaneously.

"unfortunate timing" are you playing splat zone or what? push them, harass them, don't let them cap the friggin' point!

I think I agree with you. But I'm not sure

Thanks. Makes sense and sounds like something that's hard to beat with short-range weapons, yeah.

So its unfair but if you don't like it then just get good. Okay. Perfect sense right there.

If i were to lose that way, then I'd accept the loss because they had earned the win. The way it is now, if they come back in a close situation because of something like that, it doesn't feel like they've earned the win at all.

How is it unfair at all? You're not listening to what I'm putting down. It's a friggin' comeback mechanic. It's for coming back. If you're not gonna be able to defend your capped point then of course you deserve to have your counters reset! Just because you held it through the entire penalty time doesn't mean shit because you still ultimately let your point get capped. So don't let it get capped!

Like, what do you think a penalty is for?

I'm just gonna give up here. I don't think you understand the argument I am making, which is probably my fault and if you do, then I strongly disagree with what you are saying.

In my last battle, I had the roller and was covering our half of the area while my teamates just went ahead to go shoot the others while barely covering any of the field. Luckily they were good at killing the others while I covered a lot of ground with my roller, but I felt like a damn janitor.

Like, in what way did they not deserve the win? They take the territory from you, right? Are you at the zone defending? Are you there? You held the territory for the entire penalty time, what's stopping you holding it before they cap it? The penalty counter only resets if they cap it, and they need a pretty large majority of the zone to cap it, and you were defending it this entire time, so it's indeed possible for you to hold the zone. So what's the problem? How is it 'unfair'?

haha Fun.

yeah the penalty points are needlessly excessive and there's no reason for it other than artificially extending matches, such a drag

I love that feeling you get when you know you've been carrying your team, and they wouldn't have gotten that victory if not for your contribution.

:]
