So after, iM@S, AKB0048, I Want to be the Strongest in the World, Love Live and Wake Up Girls, what other idol shows are there to watch.

Or do I have to turn towards iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia?

Why not go for something a little older, and watch Creamy Mami?

Looking at Sentai's releases... I'll pick up Prisma Illya, probably. Disappointed that Tamako Market seems to be DVD only for now, will wait for the Blu-Ray.

according to WTK these are the September releases for Sentai.

So glad its a pretty terrible month for anime, I can devote all my monies to the Free! figures. Will get MJPR when a complete set is offered.

Misato is the best girl in Evangelion.

100% truth

Speaking of red-heads being the best:

1000% truth

I knew I must have forgotten a redhead best girl somewhere. <3

How can you forget the amazingly cute girl who roundhouse kicked a tiger in the face?

Nice pick-up. I have the Bandai set but hopefully this renews peoples interest in K-on.
Amazing how Bandai lost the license to begin with for such a popular title.

Hahaha. I knew this was coming!

What next, a country grown vegetables shirt?

Idol anime is kind of a newer genre. Not a whole lot of them yet.

That's because Bandai Entertainment no longer exists in North America.

As for K-ON, both it and Tamako Market are DVD only for now; and both are owned by TBS Animation. It could just be that Sentai needs more time to clear the Blu-Ray rights for North America on both.

Some great stuff here but I get really upset when something isnt released in bluray. Its so spotty it makes no sense! I have shows like Fractale on bluray but not Acchi Kocchi or even Ano Natsu. It makes my collection so uneven. It really sucks. Also I got burned AGAIN with Papa kiki being on bluray and I have the DVD. This is why I keep holding out. Man anime licensing in the US is shit :(

A good portion of Sentai's DVD only titles will hit Blu-Ray eventually. It's just a matter of time. Just look at Hidamari Sketch, for example. They talked about this on their Twitter; certain titles have a "holdback period" for the Blu-Ray rights.

Well age is not a factor I concerned about, I'm happy with all suggestions. 52 episode is quite a bit though.

Well it is one reason why I feel I could try and watch them all. I don't even really care about idol culture, I just find them kind of funny.

Ill give you an example of how this affects my ordering:

These are dvd only and Im holding out. This list is growing. There is stuff in there I really want but every time I go ahead and get the DVD set, the blurays come out later. The other problem is if I DO hold out, sometimes the DVDs go out of print and I lose any opportunity to get the show at all. I feared this for vividred so I finally bought the DVD but I just know in the future I will get fucked by that one too

Dog and Scissors
Future diary
Chuunibyo
Magi
Romantic comedy Snafu
Oreshura
Red data Girl
Sasami San

Chuunibyou already has a Blu-Ray confirmed for this Fall; it'll have a limited edition, even. No words on what will be in it yet, though. Sasami-San seems likely to get a Blu-Ray in the future too, but no idea when.

when anime like Chuunibyou get blu-ray releases when I'm still waiting for Monster or Jin-Roh, the medium has truly gone to shit

#fatezerofor300dorrarus

Jin-Roh is getting a Blu-Ray in December, and a DVD in August.

On the other hand, Viz confirmed on their Facebook not too long ago that they will "likely never" release the rest of Monster.

I really wanted a complete collection of it too. :(

Viz is still shitty shit and it will take a lot of goodwill for me to like them again.
Starting by rereleasing Full Moon O Sagashite in full instead of the cowardly aborting it after volume 7.

Jin-Roh is getting blu-ray? Sweet now I need Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Vampire Hunter D to get the movies I've been waiting forever to be released to come out. Also a crapload of series. Funny I don't own any western tv show in blu-ray because usually you can find a streaming service playing them.

And a damn shame about Monster. Here they have a show that rivals western tv in how intricate and awesome it is, and they refuse to let me buy it from them.

We'll probably get Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke... in a year or two. It sucks, but we will get them, eventually. I don't even know if Vampire Hunter D has a Blu-Ray in Japan, so no clue when or if we're ever getting that.

Yeah, it really sucks how Viz handled Monster. I don't even know if they have the license to it anymore. Maybe if we wait a few years a company like Discotek (the ones handling the new Jin-Roh release) will get a hold of it.

Man, they absolutely know what they're doing with having both dubs/subs available on the JP blu-ray releases of Space Dandy, and not saying anything about a US release.

Worst thing is; I'm so close to biting the bullet on copy. Vol 1, 2, and OST.

Would have thought that would have been easy since K-On! on Blu-ray has been released in the US before, but I guess not...

Even worse most other places though :p

If they bring this back I will quit my silly Viz-hate forever.

The Japanese BD-box did just come out two months ago, so I assume that's the reason why. When Sentai is able to release the BD for S1, and hopefully a complete set for S2, the audio track won't be lossy like the Bandai BDs.

I gotta believe. Hopefully I'll also eventually get cheap fate zero.

On a different note I'm watching Black Bullet and the first scene in loli in hospital with breathing apparatus and in coma. I laughed so hard. Reminds me of the one getting hit by the truck.

Hunter X Hunter 130

Padding: The Episode. Hopefully so that IT CAN HAPPEN all next episode.
We're on the brink of it. Next episode is the one.
Animation is looking great for 131 too

Yeah, this time I will agree with complainers, that was very obvious padding in the second half.

The funny thing, is

MANGA SPOILERS
so many minutes of waiting and padding and the fight itself will be 3 minutes. It's literally the transformation and two punches.

Soul Eater Not! 07

Neat, we have Koshimizu playing a villain this time. The lull of the quiet days has finally broken, and a witch is on the loose. A little more screentime for Maka, Soul and the Thompson sisters and for the most part, the same kind of relaxing atmosphere I've come to expect from this series. Until the Gorgon attack shot all of that to hell. This is definitely going to change up the tone a bit, and if there was ever a time for Tsugumi to choose a partner, it's now.

Though I really wish Funi could find a way to convey the puns without having to resort to translators' notes.

Eh, I wouldn't count on that. Aniplex USA doesn't seem like it will be going away anytime soon, and they have first dibs on anything Aniplex in Japan releases...

Guess your name is appropriate. Because you just went clovering time on my dreams.

Black Bullet 7

Decent episode action-wise, but the walking scene looked VERY weird with Rentaro almost floating on the ground lol. I'm enjoying this show too much what the fuck is wrong with me.

And woohoo. Just what this show needed. Another lollie

No.

No I didn't. I wouldn't mind the character if she were older. Because at least I know people having sexual fantasies over here are sexually fantasizing over somebody legal.

We'd be dead by that alone.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Might as well hook up an IV drip and load it with Bacardi 151.

Added to it. That last one wouldn't be a very fun drinking game though. We'd leave sober.

Gundam Unicorn-2
So yea this was better than the first episode. The mech combat was pretty good although I missed the pile porn. There's a really good sense of physicality in the way the mechs move which is somewhat surprising as it's in space. I love the fact that they're putting an emphasis on acceleration and the effects that has on the human body. Also they did a beautiful job animating the 'Red Comet' in this episode in the way he moves is all over the place in a very detailed manner. The audience can clearly see the skill that the pilot has rather than just some random shmuck saying it or grunts getting wiped out(although that happens too). The music piece that plays when the Unicorn launches was pretty fantastic.

His response is exactly what Char would have said.
I am getting somewhat sick of Char or a lookalike showing up in seemingly every damn Gundam series. Other than that, the writing was pretty good this episode. Protagonist really got shat on this episode and rightfully so. He's still simpin' but he seems to be progressing a bit. What I really enjoyed this episode was showing both sides of the conflict in a relatively neutral manner, by that, showing the douchebags in Zeon and the incompetency of the Feds. It really feels like the show is trying to show all sides of the war in an unbiased way, unlike the original Gundam or Zeta. The conversation at the dinner table was really good for that reason.

This was another really solid entry and I keep waiting for something to go horrifically wrong on the writing front. Tomino ruined me. :(
