Season 5 of Major is a lot better than season 4. I'm glad they got past the whole pretending that other people were speaking English with Goro not being able to understand them part. That was so annoying -_-

Season 5 has been much more tense so far since they brought back characters I actually care about. Toshiya really adds to the atmosphere and with him and Goro together it makes for a much better experience.

Also, I'm glad to see
a bit of romance moving forward with Goro in this season. He's been so focused on baseball this whole time I was starting to wonder if they planned on ever adding any kind of romantic development in the series.

Welcome to the NHK 8

So many episodes have me laughing one moment then just feeling bad the next. The mom visit induced a few chuckles when she arrived and left but then
when she could tell they were lying and then Sato got all depressed and distressed and Misaki too was just pretty depressing.
. I liked it but really wish the anime was one that makes me feel good, not really my type anymore, but I guess Ill keep on trudging through for Kaoru's sake (poor guy had to man the phone alone).

The episode pretty much confirmed the and hints at a final outcome I kind of didn't want
Sato x Misaki is going to be canon with the entire event in pda central park which like in bl, the cell phone struck again[/
spoiler]
This show is incredibly depressing. I really wasn't expecting it.

two tales about greed and one about urination... oh, and a buddha statue saves the day in two of 'em. yep, that sounds about right for this show.

Hyouka 7

Fanservice and manservice? This is a true sign that Hyouka is AOTY

I felt satisfied with this episode's mystery and surprisingly its conclusion.

I should have the light novel of Welcome to the NHK delivered this Monday. I may be looking into the anime adaption of this series after I finish reading it.
I should read the light novel one day. I heard a lot of people say it's pretty good compared to the manga/anime

Haha, Rider is awesome.

Kirei's cheating like a motherfucker. You know what they say, if you're not cheating, you're not trying.

That's a lot of Assassins.

Goddamn, Saber looks nice in a suit.

Speaking of cheating...Kiritsugu no baka! How could you do that to poor, sweet Iri? ;_;

She should totally run off with Saber.

Is it wrong that I wanted Saber's armor to appear with a full-blown magical girl transformation sequence?

I am inclined to agree to all of the unspoilered.

Hey guys! I came here to ask for suggestions on what to watch! I figured what better place to ask than GAF since we have such a varied user base.

In the past few days I watched Oreimo, Hanasaku Iroha, and Papa no iukoto wo kikinasai. I'm wondering what other shows I can watch that are similar to these, stuff in the slice of life and romance genres. I really don't know much about anime but these are the type that I enjoy the most, I make a connection with the characters and end up caring about them and what happens to them. Any suggestions?

Good luck finding a decent priced copy. I somehow found a "new" copy from shawnek's (TRSI's president) Amazon storefront for around thirty dollars. I have heard good things about the series and I somehow came upon this last week, so I figured I should get it while it was affordable. Monday cannot come soon enough.

Have you watched Genshiken? It's pretty good and it's about bunch of otaku so it's kinda similar to Oreimo in that aspect but better.

Hallway sort of sealed the deal that this, the "last room", and the bus was used to test their ability to handle a long duration in a sealed environment. I figure the actual sealed environments will be used more as a sieve to catch those with strong leadership skills or other necessary abilities as well.

The classified NASA footage was some strong stuff too. A very sobering reminder to the dreamers.

New cast members/rivals seem like a good fit too.

Holy shit, I remember buying this several years ago at such a cheap price. I never would have guessed its current value being so high.

I haven't. I will check it out then, thanks for the suggestion! Any other shows I should check out? I tend to go through these really fast because once I start watching them I need to keep going to see what happens so I just burn through the episodes really fast.

There is Kimi ni Todoke if you are willing to go through a shoujo anime. I find it very slow but it's definitely an anime with enjoyable characters. There is also Usagi Drop which is excellent anime about a single guy raising a kid. Also if you want a good mix of slice of life and romance then there is the recent Ano Natsu which I thought was enjoyable despite the best girl losing.

-People seem to like Ouran High School (comedy/romance).

-I personally recommend Usagi Drop (which may fill your connection with characters quota).

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai and Highschool DxD might be good places to start, at least in terms of recent stuff.

Mononoke and Trapeze/Kuuchuu Buranko

Those don't fit his criteria at all.

I wouldn't say its similar but I would definitely recommend Kimi ni Todoke.

Toradora is another solid choice.

I might as well say Aria since no one else will.

Madoka Magica Episode 10

The quality of the show won't stop increasing!

It would be easier if Madoka simply wish the big bad to disappear. Instead of simply wishing to become a magical girl. Sheesh, she loves to waste her wish.

I enjoyed the in-depth backstory involving Homura. It was a solid decision to leave the typical opening for the very end. Probably would have been better to omit it completely.

Upotte end

And suddenly, actual gun issues and a hint of the darker side of this kind of moe anthropomorphism.

Well, I said I was going to watch the whole show, and I did. I guess that's.... something. Definitely not the worst show of the season.

Saki: Achiga-hen 3

9h1VF.jpg

Hahaha, what in the holy name of pacing did I just witness? Did they just
finish the qualifying round, go around and play against all these other high schools, hold the training camp and go to the fucking nationals
all in one episode? This is insane.

Oh and holy shit at
the Saki appearance near the end. She is such as a beast, she is going to totally destroy Achiga isn't she?

Only a 10 episode show? They must be saving some quality material for the BDs.

What is up with
the NTR fascination this season? Even though i'm a fan, this is too much in one season.

Damn, forgot about Toonami tonight; was going to livewatch the DMW/Casshern power hour with the Toonami thread to see the reactions. Guess I'll wait until the repeat block later and read along with the thread archive as if it were active.

But then they can't
make a shitload of money off making the upcoming movies!

That's where they're going to cliffhanger it? Really?

Anyway, I wonder how long this phase of the plot will last.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, keep them coming! I just watched the first episode of Genshiken and it was ok I guess. Maybe I need to give it some more time before deciding on it. I will check the first episode or two of these suggestions and finish whichever grabs me first.

Episode two had summer, fall, winter, and the next spring, all in one episode, and episode one had a several-year timeskip. Yes, a whole heck of a lot of stuff was skipped over in the early episodes of achiga-hen in the name of trying to have two long matches that take up the majority of the length of the show.

And yes, I wish we'd gotten a 26-ep version of Achiga. It'd have been great. But at least it's 15 episodes instead of 12, that's better for sure.

Oh and holy shit at

They won't fight Saki herself in Achiga-hen, almost certainly, because it's probably ending before the finals and that's where Achiga and Kiyosumi will meet, but her sister Teru's in Achiga, and she's maybe even scarier than her sister...
But yeah, scary Saki was great.
