Given that everything else in the franchise is from Bee Train, I can't blame you.

I'd be interested in checking out .hack//Quantum though, if you endorse it.
I don't know if I'd recommend it. Enjoyable, but it's flawed enough that it's definitely somewhat of an acquired taste. In my case it was all the moe.
I really enjoyed Soredemo, should I watch Natsu no Arashi? I hated the two episodes of Arakawa that I watched, is it something I should give a 2nd chance to?
Natsu no Arashi is good, but it's no Soredemo. It gets close at times though.

It's really unfortunate there will never, ever be more Soredemo. At least it ended on pretty much a perfect note.

I'm kind of happy there won't be more animated Soredemo, in a way. It'd be hard to top that ending, and I'd hate to see it fall prey to sequel decay. I can always read the manga anyway.

I don't know if that'll do it for me, but there's no harm in giving it a shot.

You've really never even watched Slayers, Firehawk? Too bad...

You know what, now that I think about it, it makes sense if the extra 3 episodes were somewhat last minute - especially if the anime is past the Japanese manga chapters at this point. Perhaps they slowed down thinking that they'd end the series with the episode airing next week.
Yeah, I think so, that's a reasonable guess... but then they decided that they really did want to finish this round, so they added some episodes. I just hope that they're good.

There needs to be yet another side story. Maybe that guy in Saki can become a good player and then star in the men's tournament. :p
Hmm... I don't know how well that'd go over, given that it'd be sans-yuri, but that could be good, sure... I'd watch, certainly.

Well, it ends in a logical place... it's just a very safe one.
Unfortunate; sure, making up an ending isn't always a good idea (the original series often has a better one, when animes do things like that...), but ending a plot-heavy series with a somewhat non-ending ending can be annoying. Hopefully it does get some kind of followup, or something, eventually, once the manga gets farther... if the manga doesn't contradict anything that happened in the last four episodes of the anime, of course, that is. :) The final arc (9-12) in the anime mostly is pretty safe and goes by what is likely to happen in the manga, but things do happen differently in each of course, and as the manga hasn't gotten to the big reveal of Yuuko's past for sure so far, we can't know for absolutely certain.

I mean, it is a pretty good anime. No question. It's a good adaptation as well, and is quite similar to the manga in a lot of ways. Each version has some positives and negatives. Initially I thought that it was maybe not quite as good as the manga, though. It did then get better of course, but... I don't know, I don't know which is better right now.

It's father-son emotional porn, so you need to get that hook. lol
I disliked the concept (about the Black Sox), and didn't like the movie that much either ("if you build it they will come"... meh.).

Star Trek was bad for this, because everyone in the future only liked stuff that existed before the 20th century. Imagine if all we did was read Shakespeare and listen to 400 year old songs? It makes no sense.
That's very true, and was kind of silly, I agree. At least they didn't just choose modern pop culture, though -- they chose stuff from 50+ years ago, like old cartoons and serials. Made it a bit more interesting. But yeah, it is silly... what about all those centuries in between? :)

Yep, the idea is that the main character is a bit of a rogue because he went off on his own in Afghanistan.
Ah. So at least that series mentioned it, even if that does nothing to help with the issues you pointed out earlier on.

Everyone's gotta rip off Watchmen/Geass.
Nobody should be wanting to copy Geass. :(

I think we've all been there though.
The world is made of droolers and drollees. Now I'm trying to think back on the times I may have fallen asleep at school.

Mysterious Girlfriend X 8

To get the thought of boobs off his mind, he decides to go look up some porn. Then "randomly" runs into his girlfriend as he "goes home." Of course his problem isn't helped by the fact that Urabe's wearing a very tight sweater, and she actually wants him to grope her. So Tsubaki finally grows a back bone and get's all assertive and makes a move on her, but ends up making her cry, so he becomes jelly and flees the scene. Though we then learn that Urabe is kinky and loves to have her earlobes licked and groped. So everything is still alright on the mysterious love boat.
It's a good episode, but not as good as the last one. But man, good stuff!
You should have watched this during the same week at the winter Upotte!! episode for a double dosage of jumper boobs.

I asked for recommendations a few days ago. Currently a little over halfway through Baccano! and really enjoying it.

Anyway, I came to ask another question. Akira: sub or dub? I haven't seen it before.

Well Akira actually has two English dubs. I'd suggest going with the subs first but the Pioneer/Animaze dub isn't bad.

Subs. The audio was prerecorded (rare in anime) and animated to the JP voices, so it's pretty much the only way to go.

I genuinely do think Natsu no Arashi is Shaft's secret best show. It's not as flashy as their other shows, nor is it as outwardly awesome as Hidamari Sketch.

Arakawa, as I remember, stays mostly the same. The cast opens up in the second cour and it becomes much more of an ensemble show, but it's still going to be about the gang and their crazy adventures.

If you want to go crazy though, you should watch the jdrama version... complete with a real guy in a nun outfit and a star head costume.

It saves us the trouble of the misunderstanding episodes. Urabe just sticks her finger into Tsubaki whenever she wants and finds out everything.
Heh, true. Or they could have just made her telepathic!

You've really never even watched Slayers, Firehawk? Too bad...
Yep. As I've said, I don't really watch much fantasy and there hasn't been that much that has aired recently in the genre. Except Gamu of Tsronsu I suppose.

Eh, the way they end is fairly definitive for the most part. I suppose at some point they'd have to deal with the mechanics of their relationship, but I'm sure the author hasn't thought that far. :p

Also, the manga doesn't have the benefit of Shaft, so it can't be better!

Nobody should be wanting to copy Geass. :(
The "I'll be evil so everyone hates me" thing is a bit of a silly twist now.

The sub for the reasons pizzaroll already posted

It's only silly now, after it's been used to great effect once previously. This is usually how plot twists go, the first time is awesome, then after that it's all downhill. See M. Night Shyamalan for further information.

Why would you make a controller where you don't put your left hand on the left side of it?

That's how every single other controller on the planet works.

Because it was a controller designed for different play styles. The first page of EVERY manual I read even indicated this and this was during the period when manuals were still worth reading.

That is false. There are other controllers that also have three prongs. They were surely inspired by the N64 controller, sure, but they do exist. A few examples include the analog Nuon controller, the unreleased controller that would have been used with the 3DO M2 (a few prototypes of it exist), and a whole bunch of Famiclones, but those are just ones that blatantly rip off the N64; I'm sure there are others that are a bit more subtle about it.

Beyond that falsehood though, Nintendo did it because they realized that in a controller with two different control mechanisms, analog or digital, putting them both on the same part of the controller doesn't make any sense. If you do that, you compromise your controller design, and put one of the two in an uncomfortable position, as Sony did with the two analog sticks on the Dual Shock. The N64 controller, however, was designed for ideal, comfortable control with either the analog stick or d-pad, and it succeeds at this brilliantly, better than anything that has both an analog stick and dpad on the same part of the controller.

Indeed true as well, every manual showed you how to hold it, and people usually read manuals back then, at least once.

Not even the language barrier could stop this KyoAni x Happy Science masterpiece from teaching us valuable lessons about the truth.

So the only other controllers that work like the N64 controller are no-name controllers that came later and copied its design?

You're not exactly inspiring me to think that those design decisions were sensible or common.

You shouldn't need a manual to understand how to hold a controller, unless it's some clunky behemoth full of buttons meant to simulate an expensive piece of equipment full of functions.

And I'm a guy who likes to read manuals. I just never suspected I had to bother, and I played all my N64 games with my hands at the extreme left and right.

It's not intuitive to hold, plain and simple. Most controllers should be (and are) able to manage that much.

Got the first Ano Hana BD containing the initial 5 episodes, and I have to admit that re-watching it, I like it somewhat more now, which I attribute to a dub job I consider good and to watching the episodes back to back, though that doesn't change the problems the show has.
But damn, it looks good, and the ED is so nice.

In other news, I just learned that BRS TV is coming to Italy and I'm now pondering if I should preorder the BRS TV vol.1 BD Limited edition, which comes with the BD+DVD+Figure, for a 79.99€ price (though it's not yet up on Amazon.it).
I loved BRS TV, and the figure looks good:

Patema Inverted: Beginning of the Day 3

These prologue shorts are doing a really good job of getting me excited for the movie. I can't wait for the next one!

Aquarion Evol 26 (end)
tumblr_m662gtv7yk1qzd219o2_250.gif

It was a lovely ending, I was actually crying tears of joy at one part for some reason. They delivered the essentially everything I wanted for the final episode and a resolution that I could definitely agree with. I loved how Amata looked in this part, pretty cool.
And more power to Kaguara for admitting his love and ackowledging it and yet letting her go and get with Amata in that lovely embrace. That was great.
Operator-kun even got screentime. I only had one minor criticism about which I had hoped they would avoid.
Mix should have stayed a dude, there was no explanation for how she turned back unless those were really powerful tears

Overall a 9 / 10 and must buy once it releases here. Aquarion evol was a fantastic ride with possible the best ratio of mech and character development Ive seen in these type of anime. Amata, Kagura, and Andy led the way in terms of being great characters and making me care deeply about them. The first OP was the superior OP and it never got old hearing it in many episodes, and the first ED song too as well. Halfway through the plot took a weakish turn but quickly recovered when things became serious again. It was fun. Amata's va was also perfect for the role, I think my favorite JPN Va.

Ghost girl finale

aww what a sweet journey.

omnomnomnom

And that ending. Kiss of death?

Fun show imo. Was the opposite of what I expected vs sankarea. Striking Shaft visuals and framing + the ever so super duper cute yuuko.

So apparently A-1 Pictures has 5 studios right now; the studio that handled Idolmaster is supposedly now doing Sword Art Online. (Source)
I'm skeptical about it myself (hence the "apparently" and "supposedly"), unless A-1's studio structure is such that each one contains sub-teams.
I think this could be what they were referring to with that, maybe. Apart from their main offices and animation production area at Asagaya Studio (that I mentioned here http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=39140877&postcount=13334) where much of THE IDOLM@STER main staff was located, on their twitter account they have been talking about the move to their new Koenji Studio from the now old Ogikubo Studio (https://twitter.com/a1pictures/status/165449074441592832) as it is presented on their updated official website (http://www.a1p.jp/company/information.html), although since that actualization they have left behind the 'Profile' pages of the previously available site where it figures this old workplace (http://www.a1p.jp/profile/information.html).

At this time it seems that they operate two locations with apparently pretty big areas dedicated to production.
