I'm halfway through Lost Stars and it's amazing. First Bloodline and now this, I think my first Star Wars novels are spoiling me.

You've read the best of the bunch first.
That's a nice looking poster. I wonder if Rogue One will be the first SW movie without any lightsaber fights. I'm glad it's coming out this year, to help ease the wait for episode 8.
are the shoretroopers the guys who have a Nintendo R.O.B built into their chins?
Really dont like the look of these additional things at all.
These guys.
Man the new EU is already going off the rails with so much silly shit

Yeah, there's going to be a Rebels panel.Do you think we will get Rebels news as well?
Rian Johnson makes a cool little cameo in this week's Star Wars show. There's a few new details about Rogue One too.
- The Scarab Troopers as they were rumoured to be called are actually named Shoretroopers.
- The new AT-AT is called the AT-ACT (All-Terrain Armoured Cargo Transport), so the Rogue One story guide was correct.
The official art for Celebration's been unveiled as well. Looks great.

Just finished Lost Stars. That was equally as amazing as Bloodline. What to read next?
Battlefront
Lords of the Sith
Aftermath
Is this from the recent Marvel Star Wars comic?
Battlefront. Lords of the Sith is pretty uneven and a lot of people hate Aftermath's writing (I didn't mind the writing but I wasn't enthalled with the main story).
To be honest, most of the new canon novels aren't that great. Lost Stars and Bloodline are the top tier, then I'd say Battlefront and A New Dawn, then Tarkin and LotS, then Dark Disciple and Aftermath towards the bottom. Heir to the Jedi is the worst. I actually really like the first half of DD but you can tell it's compiled from a bunch of unused TCW scripts because everything flies by, and the last couple chapters just get really ridiculous.
If you are interested in venturing further into the young adult novels (since Lost Stars was actually a young adult novel and not classified with the "adult" novels), the Servants of the Empire series is great and really enhances the Rebels series. Before the Awakening, Smuggler's Run, The Weapon of a Jedi, and Moving Target are all also very enjoyable. Ezra's Gamble is kind of the odd one out but still fun.
Yeah, it's from the main Star Wars comic. It'sSgt. Kreel leading an elite force of Stormtroopers from the 501st. He had a lightsaber because he has previously been undercover working to bring down Grakkus the Hutt, who was a collector of Jedi artifacts. The Grakkus story arc was actually probably the best thing in the comic so far,but this is from the most recent issue, #19.
I'm guessing Shoretroopers are assigned to seaports like on the planet we see at the end of the teaser. There aren't any seaports in the OT so they wouldn't appear.I always wonder what the hell happened to all the things that appear before the OT, but seemingly disappear. Like, Shoretroopers look cool and all, but where are they during IV-VI? Are they on vacation at the beach?
I never took the Empire as an organization that cared so much about their clone army's comfort levels. I bet they get good benefits packages as well.
Yeah, but why didnt they use the Tie-Fighter that look like thoose ugly imaginary EU things?I'm guessing Shoretroopers are assigned to seaports like on the planet we see at the end of the teaser. There aren't any seaports in the OT so they wouldn't appear.
According to that book excerpt they're primarily designed for attacking ground forces and capital ships. They'll probably say they were phased out by ROTJ.Yeah, but why didnt they use the Tie-Fighter that look like thoose ugly imaginary EU things?
Shoretrooper is something I can somehow find peace with, but the new Ties are a no-go.
The last book in the Aftermath trilogy, Empire's End, is scheduled for early next year too. The young adult novel about Ahsoka is the book I'm looking forward to most this year now we've had Bloodline. How many books are in the works right now?
Life Debt
Catalyst
What else?

Thanks. Did you happen to read the sampler at the back of Bloodline of the next Aftermath book? Did Wendig change the style?
Was there ever any question that the guide was correct? The head is visibly different in the trailer, a variant was expected.
I like all the new R1 designs. Looking good.

Strange Vader replacements!
So far in the comics, let's recap some of the major points to refresh our memories. At least mine.
Star Wars/Darth Vader - weapons facility, Luke seeing Vader, Vader seeking pilot of Death Star, Luke training, Vader out of favor with Emporer, Vader hiring Boba Fett to find pilot. Vader Down. Vader and Aphra. Sana appearing and causing trouble.
Then my knowledge gets a little murkier. Before I read issue 19. What else has been going on?
I'm just so fascinated by the shoretroopers currently, I just cant imagine the equipment and training these troops must need to successfully transition from a beach environment to standing in shallow water.
I was just about to post something like this, haha. The Empire is getting out of hand with all these "specialists" (and I don't even know what makes a sandtrooper more suited to his environment aside from a tan shoulder pad).
Vader Down actually happens later. The order of things goes more or less like this (including the Leia and Chewbacca comics but not book stuff, of which there's quite a bit, but I can certainly include if you want):
-Destruction of Death Star
-Evacuation of Yavin IV
-Leia and Evaan Verlaine rescue Alderaanians across the galaxy
-Leia sends rebel spy Eneb Ray to rescue rebel senators but he fails and is nearly killed by Palpatine (maybe this happens around here? placement's not sure)
-Chewbacca frees slaves on Andelm-4 from Jaum
-Luke, Han, and Leia sabotage Cymoon-1; Luke briefly encounters Vader, who becomes obsessed with hunting him down
-Vader is demoted by Palpatine and put under the command of Grand General Tagge
-Tagge assigns Vader an adjutant, Oon-Ai, while he takes down a pirate organization using droids brought from Dr. Aphra; Vader frames Oon-Ai as a traitor and has him executed
-Vader is sent to negotiate with Jabba the Hutt; he hires Boba Fett and Black Krrsantan to spy on Luke and Dr. Cylo
-Vader recruits Aphra to help him build a droid army, using stolen machinery from Geonosis; she awakens 000 and BT-1
-Luke temporarily abandons the Rebellion to learn more about the Force and returns to Tatooine, where he encounters and escapes from Boba Fett who learns his last name; Luke manages to retrieve Obi-Wan's journal
-Han and Leia are nearly captured by Sana Starros on Monsua
-Black Krrsantan provides Vader with the location of Dr. Cylo's base; Vader heads there with his droid army and encounters Cylo's experiments, which are revealed to have been funded by Palpatine; Palpatine pits the two against each other
-Boba Fett reports Luke's identity to Vader, who pledges to make the boy his apprentice and rule the galaxy
-Luke heads to Nar Shaddaa to find a smuggler to take him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant (not knowing it's now the Imperial Palace) but is captured by Grakkus the Hutt and forced to fight in an arena
-Vader travels to Tatooine to investigate Obi-Wan's hut but finds nothing
-Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and Sana rescue Luke from the arena; Vader arrives too late to capture Luke
-Vader kills the royalty on Shu-Torun and installs Trios as the queen
-Vader helps Sutha the Hutt take over organized crime on Son-Tuul
-Aphra and a group of bounty hunters, on Vader's orders, raid an Imperial ship above Anthan 13 and steal its credits; Vader gives her a new assignment
-Tagge assigns Vader to investigate the theft of the credits with the help of Officer Thanoth, who is suspicious of Vader
-Vader and Tagge hunt down the crime lord known as "The Dragon" on Anthan 13 and gain information pointing to the information broker known as "The Ante"
-Aphra uses her credits to get information from the informant known as The Ante on what mortician handled Padme's body, Commodex Tahn
-Aphra travels to Naboo and tortures Commodex Tahn, confirming that Padme had a son before she died; she reports this to Vader
-The Ante informs Aphra that Luke has been transferred to Vrogas Vas; Thanoth and Vader assault The Ante's casino and Vader helps Aphra narrowly escape unbeknownst to Thanoth
-Vader attacks the Rebels over Vrogas Vas but Luke kamikazes his X-Wing into Vader's TIE Fighter, causing them both to crashland
-Leia sends an entire Rebel force after Vader but he destroys it; Vader is confronted by Commander Karbin, whom he kills; Aphra is captured by the Rebels
-Aphra is taken to Sunspot Prison but the jail is hijacked bywho tries to convince Leia to kill all the Imperial prisoners inside; she refuses andEneb Ray-Vader is sent to Shu-Torun by Palpatine to put down a rebellion by the nobles; he works with Queen Trios and crushes the rebellion but is betrayed by Cylo's creations, Morit and Aiolin; Cylo goes on the runRay is captured while Aphra is let free and finds her way to the Cosmatanic Steppes
-Vader is informed by Palpatine that Cylo was a test who must be destroyed
-Thanoth explains to Vader thathe knows his true intentions and has taken his side; having discovered Aphra's location he provides it to Vader who then kills him
And sometime during all this or after, the Lando and upcoming Han comics take place.
