GAF Empire US East PvE

Pretty sure I'm rolling Bounty Hunter but Im not sure which AC to go with. Ive never played WoW so Im not sure how to read what Ive seen of the talent trees. Theres no respec for PvE at all is that right? Would I just have to reroll if I do something Im not happy with?

Yup, can't change AC at the moment. In the past they have said this is something they might allow in the future.

I just grouped with a Powertech for flashpoint and it seemed to be doing good.

Tigole and Furor were a couple of the original designers of WoW and where did they come from? One of the top raiding guilds in EQ - Fires of Heaven.

Furor was the guild leader of Fires of Heaven on Veeshan and Tigole was the leader of Legacy of Steel on The Nameless.

The funny thing is that Tigole's full character name would be a naming violation in WoW:

Tigole Bitties

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

If you like to tank, Powertech is your choice. Mercenary can heal. Of course both can DPS, but their styles are quite different.

If you plan to primarily DPS, Powertech's Advanced Prototype tree is pretty much a melee spec. Short range flame attacks, jet-pack uppercut, and a wrist-blade are your bread and butter attacks.

Mercenary's Arsenal tree plays a lot like a traditional ranged caster. You're primarily ability is a missile attack with a cast time, and you get talents that boost an instant ability on a cooldown called Rail Shot. Your primary nuke, Tracer Missile, is gained at level 20 and has a lot of other skills that proc off of it or are boosted by it one way or another.

Ugh, the Smuggler cover system just does not look like it's fun to use in that situation.

Maybe I should rethink being one...

I play an Imperial Agent and I love the cover system. It does take some time to get use to, but I dominated every pvp match I did, but I can see where not everyone will like it.

Ever heard of bootcamp? Works pretty well.
Works very well. I was probably the last person on NeoGaf with a PPC Mac, until I finally got the new iMac earlier this year. Installed Windows 7 on it so I could play Skyrim, which it runs wonderfully.

Games run way better on Windows when using a Mac. I have an iMac right now that I hardly even boot to its own OS anymore :/

Hmmm, on one hand, the 50 v 50 instanced nonsense seems like a slightly good idea to keep congestion of one side topping out the other. But eh, that really does suck.

No doubt it's to prevent high population crashing, but that is a low number.

If you're engine can't support more than 100 players in a zone, it has no business being used in a MMO.

Who says it's a stability issue, though? Again, I'm totally new to this subject and just learned about it now.

I don't want 2000 people in my starting zones. Maybe after servers settle they'll unlock more?

Ilum isn't a starting zone. It's a level 50 PVP planet. Tatooine is for the mid 20s and isn't a starting zone either.

The instancing happens on all zones, not just the starter zones.

Well that's shit. That seriously might cause me to cancel my preorder.

WTF is a Londa?

I just don't have a problem with World Instancing. 50 v 50 PvP isn't chaotic enough for you?

I'd personally rather to not have to compete against 3000 people for quest spawns. LOTRO has world instancing and it's fine.

If it's a big enough issue for you that you think you want to cancel your pre-order, then seriously, just cancel. The game is obviously going to be garbage anyway. Nothing else matters.

How dare you try to inject sanity into the discussion here?

You're being disingenuous. 100 people is significantly less than 3000, and when I think MMO I don't think you and 100 other players.

For open world PVP? Not nearly. 50 v 50 is nothing more than Alterac Valley in WoW but with 10 more players on each side. That's a battleground, not open world PVP.

No, I'm not. I like a low number of people in my zones. Whether there's "thousands" of people out there in the same instance as me or not has no bearing on my gameplay other than to cause me grief if they're all in my area. Anybody remember Hellfire Peninsula at launch? Aside from the lag, it was impossible to get any quest mob kills if you weren't a pro-tagging class. That probably literally was 3000 people in the same zone :p

That's what launch would be like w/o any world instancing.

Alterac Valley already is a clusterfuck when people actually stop to fight each other (which they haven't for years). I don't consider 50 v 50 or 100 v 100 or 1000 v 1000 significantly different gameplay wise.

But I'm serious, if World Instancing is a problem for you, then don't play. Look elsewhere, b/c you're not going to find what you want here.
