Early Game Access

What is Early Game Access?

Early Game Access for Star Wars: The Old Republic is an opportunity for those who have pre-ordered the Game to start playing before the Game’s official release. Pre-order customers will be allowed to play the Game from when Early Game Access starts until launch without obligation.

When does Early Game Access begin?

Early Game Access will begin prior to the official release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Precise dates will be revealed at a later time.

When does Early Game Access end?

Early Game Access will end on the day that Star Wars: The Old Republic is officially released to the general public.

After Early Game Access ends, will I get to continue to play my character?

Yes. All characters created during Early Game Access will continue to be available in the live Game. You will need to redeem a Game Code if you wish to continue playing the Game without interruption.

What do I need to do in order to get Early Game Access?

The only way to be granted Early Game Access is to pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic and redeem your Pre-Order Code at our Code Redemption Center prior to the official release of the Game. Once you have reserved your copy of the Game, redeem the Pre-Order Code you receive

How will I be able to gain access to the Game in time for Early Game Access?

Customers who have redeemed their Pre-Order Code for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be notified via email prior to the beginning of Early Game Access that the Game client is ready for download. Another email will be sent at the beginning of Early Game Access to inform players that they can now access Star Wars: The Old Republic

Can I give my Pre-Order Code to someone else?

Yes, but only if you have not already registered it to your own Star Wars: The Old Republic account. Once a Pre-Order Code is attached to a Star Wars: The Old Republic account it is locked to that account. Pre-Order Codes that are redeemed on our Code Redemption Center are locked to the account through which the code is redeemed.

What do I do if I experience problems downloading the Game client and cannot gain entry to Early Game Access?

Contact the BioWare Customer Service team with any problems you are experiencing in downloading the Game client

Will people who pre-order physical copies of the Game still qualify for Early Game Access before the Game’s launch?

Yes. Early Game Access is available to everyone who pre-orders Star Wars: The Old Republic and redeems their Pre-Order Code prior to the commercial release of the Game.

Damn one of my mates who was interested only has a mac. Did WoW release simultaneously on both OSs?

Yep. Mac client and PC client were on the same install discs. My old computer always had a hell of a time reading them (install took forever) because of that.

Find a college friend and buy windows 7 for $30 install it through boot camp.

I just can't believe my bad luck. I was so quick to pre-order I probably would have been one of the first Origin users to enter the code.

Now the god damn game does not show up in Origins. I got my fancy purchase confirmation but no Early Access Code.

Contacted support but that is going to take hours or (more likely) days. I already hate Origins.

I'm guessing the Early Game Access is the same experience for everyone, and the pre-order bonuses don't apply until you input the actual game code for the version you bought on the game's release date. I'm wondering if this is the case because what is there to prevent you from pre-ordering CE or DCE and then changing your pre order to Standard while retaining your characters and the items from the other editions. The bonuses are listed though when you enter the pre-order code so this is all speculative.

Its very likely that Each version of the game will have unique CD key sets so as you said to prevent abuse of the pre order system.

£27.29, cheapest I've found it in the UK but it has no early access I guess. Not really a big deal to me.

I don't know why EA thinks it's acceptable to charge FIFTY FUCKING POUNDS for a PC game. It's almost maddening enough to make me not buy it altogether.
even more interesting is this from the page
Pre-order this now. Release date is Thursday 15 September, 2011

So... how long do you think we wait till we can download the client? haha

Couple months. Unless we get the low down at their panel later today on full details. Who the hell knows at this point. I really wasn't expecting this whole pre-order to go down this early.

It's listed as Q4 in my store. So I'd say around October so they won't collide with too many games. It's gonna be a nasty winter for my wallet.

Are they doing a worldwide release or regional?

God, Origin is such a pile of shit. I was one of the first to order, got an email saying I probably didn't get in, but nothing else. So now instead of just ordering it from Amazon and saving myself the pain of dealing with this shitty service, I have to wait 48 hours and see if I actually did get in, by which time pre-orders for the CE on Amazon will probably have sold out. At least send me a notice saying I for sure didn't get a pre-order EA, so I can move on. I really can't afford to have multiple $150 charges coming in right now. If I get screwed out of a CE because I made the mistake of putting my faith in EA, I am going to be pissed.

To all of our fans outside of North America and Europe:

Today we've announced the pre-order details for the initial launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and as you may now know, we’ve taken the difficult but necessary decision to limit our initial launch supply for the game. BioWare and LucasArts are completely focused on building an exceptional game and an exceptional game service to go with it. We decided to constrain our launch capacity to ensure we deliver a great experience to every player.

Part of the reason this decision was made was because of the overwhelming demand for The Old Republic, and we're humbled by that level of excitement and anticipation. We fully intend to deliver to you an amazing game when we expand our service post-launch, but right now we cannot commit to any timeframe for when that may happen. As soon as we have more information about additional launches in more territories, we’ll let you know.

We are committed to delivering Star Wars: The Old Republic to BioWare and Star Wars fans around the world, and to growing a truly global community.

I'm not sure if I understand this right. Is it that the game will only be available In North America and Europe at launch or that the preorders where limited to those area? Somehow the statement isn't so clear.

Glad I'm in Canada...

Edit: Seem to be the later.

“@stevencasta: @rockjaw as an aussie, will i be able to pre-order a physical copy from amazon, get it shipped and get early access or will it not work? Thx”

“@rockjaw: @stevencasta yes, you should be able to do that.”

Finally got my code. They never responded to my ticket but it magically appeared more than three hours after the confirmation email. Not really feeling any better about Origin, but at least I can calm down now.

I don't know how to feel about limited pre-orders. Yes, it will probably help with a smooth start for those that got in, but it sure does not strike me as a very fair system. Personally I would probably be very upset about having to wait.

Ugh. Think I might have to cancel that limited edition gears 3 xbox I preordered.

Times like these it sucks to be an aussie

Fuck this. I'm considering ordering the digital deluxe edition but i cannot see the price... or even the game on Origin (in Finland, fuck this, everything comes late here). Fucking update it globally, not a timezone at time or some such shit.

Considering the DDE because only place to pre-order TOR physical CE in Finland is GameStop, and only way to pre-order something from them is to visit a store... Yeah right.

I could theoretically order it from some other store but then there'd be extra costs.

Sigh...

EDIT

"Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is not available in your region"

WHAT IS THIS SHIT? DDE is not offered on all countries? What THE FUCK???

Called Origin and had my original order for the digital CE cancelled (it was on the wait list. I think it's fair to say if you didn't get a confirmation email quickly, you didn't get in) and just bought the $150 CE from Amazon. What a pain. That a totally digital product would have a limited quantity, an even more limited quantity than the actual box copy, is just bizarre to me. I live in the US so that wasn't the issue, it's just EA being dumb (or trying to get suckers like me to buy the $150 version instead).

Since Finland is part of the €-Region the DDE should be 75€ (you have to pay 5 to pre-order and the rest at release). That's how much I paid in Germany.

Yeah well, they don't even offer it in Finland for some reason. Fucking shitheads.
Suddenly i'm very tempted to skip TOR and stick to EVE online.

You could just order the standard edition on amazon (Unless you really want the Digital edition bonus) You should be able to download the game anyway with the early play key.

That wasn't obvious? I'm mostly interest in the STAP... the speeder i've seen in vids looks so fucking ugly that i'd rather walk.
It seems that i could pre-order the CE from game.co.uk though. A little extra cost but they do ship to Finland...

Heh the canadian gamestop site doesn't even have the game up yet.

Anyways I am kind of surprised they have it up for pre-order and have the contents of each edition outlined already and there is still no release date.

Man, people waking up to this, only to find some editions are limited. The fan. It's on.

This.

I mean I kinda of understand the timing(to lessen the load on the server) but to have a limited amount of a DIGITAL product seems silly.

It's not silly. It's just fuckig downright moronic. I hope whoever made that decisions never ends up in my way.

Any experiences with game.co.uk, when ordering from somewhere else than UK/Ireland?

EDIT oh and of course... Well, our ISP being shitty, we will change it at some point, which means i'm gonna lose my current main email. Does anyone know whether changing EA account email is possible?

EDIT2, well, i think BW/EA have pissed me off enough that i won't be getting any CE. STAP looks cool but if there's that, then maybe there will be other speeders than the one in Tatooine vid too. If not, well, i'll walk then and bitch about it on their forums. CE music disc would be nice but i can listen that from YouTube.

Got my pre-order in this morning. Said it was likely that I would get my pre-order for the digital deluxe edition.

I wanted to get a CE in the first place, but spending 150 fucking euro's on it is just crazy in my opinion. Especially concidering that the only three things I'd really want from it are the diary from Gnost Dural, the pet and the vendor.
Besides that Dutch retailers dont even have the CE listed yet.

Just to make sure we get the amount of pre-orders we need for our guild to get implemented:

How many in NeoGAF (europe) have pre-ordered the game so far?

What about Amazon.co.uk? I have very good experiences with them.

Implemented into what? Did I miss something? Is there some kind of guild beta/head start/bonus for guilds with a certain amount of pre-orders?

Got the email to, so if we pre-order we can get into the beta? Or just a head start right before game launch? I am confused.

Pre-ordered the CE for my Dad for his birthday. He's been looking forward to it for ages, bless him!

Game UK are saying the pre-order codes are being sent next week for their customers. So any orders from there will have to be patient.

I want to hear a release date before pre-ordering for myself, as it could easily clash with work commitments :(

Head start at the game launch. Not related to the beta as far as I know.

Didn't Aion pre-order players get a 3 day headstart when the game released? Might be like that.

Well, I accidentally got the digital standard, when I meant to get the digital deluxe, but now that's it's over I actually feel pretty good about that. I really just wanted the early access and I'm sure the exclusive items won't be game-breaking or anything so it's probably for the best that I saved myself $20.

Game have 100% filled pre-orders on everything I've ordered with them. I know some customers got shafted when Cata came out because GAME failed to allocate enough copies for the orders they had already secured, but thats the only time thats happened as far as I'm aware.

Amazon are quite good as well, again only one time I've seen pre-order allocations not arrive on time.

If you live in central london, its worth keeping an eye on HMV and GAME closer to release date, as they are bound to have a midnight launch with a limited allocation of CE's if you fail to secure yours in time.

I've pre-ordered mine at GAME atm, and will see closer to the date if I can secure another means. £130... expensive..
