Hey, for the Force Throw spell, why not just pull up rocks from the ground and throw them instead of an oil tank? You have that whole animation of bursting open the ground anyway. I think that would be cool.

There is an attack that just picks up and tosses a bunch of rocks from what we saw in one of the E3 vids

Character models are dorky as fuck.

It's all fairly stylized, but you get used to it. It's sort of an extension of the original KOTOR meets the Clone Wars CG cartoon.

I guess I've just always hated it when people want to perform roles their classes weren't really designed for. Like DPS Warriors in WoW. If you want to DPS then roll a goddamn Rogue.

I feel the same about TOR. If you want to tank then roll a goddamn Sith Warrior. ;)
You can feel that way, but Warrior DPS (which is two specs out of the three possible for Warriors) has been at many times one of the very highest.

You can't blame people for playing something good. But I don't really want to talk about WoW, I just want to illustrate that I think your point is moot.

Jedi Shadow/Sith Assassin as tank.
I've heard that yes they can. I think the profiles on the website just haven't been updated enough for those classes.

I too am excited about dual bladed lightsaber tanking action. Though I may roll Sage if I find the healing to be fun.

Why are they fighting, if they can just pull up huge fuel tanks with the force at will? Enough fuel for everyone!

Consulars have a monopoly on the septic tank/fuel tank salvage operations galaxy wide. Soon, even the Republic will fight the Consulars for control of this lucrative market.

Red Rancor's V-Cast. Great trailer breakdown of the consular. Slows it down, replays it, kinda like IGN Rewind. Good shit.

edit: and for fun, some random video called "Cold War" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA27X_BJOaA. The game looks pretty neat with the saturation turned down.

edit2: and for more fun so I don't bump senselessly, this mash (contains cg & game footage) trailer. yes I am bored waiting for more news of this game lol. But I assure you, this one is really good.

It all starts to make sense now.

If everyone thought like this totally badass shit like Ninjas Blink tanking in FFXI would never exist!

FFXI Ninja blink tanking is still about the coolest thing I've ever seen in MMOs. Ah FFXI, still the best MMO out there, hopefully SWTOR will top it.

I hear they've eased up, but when I played post NA launch it was an over the top grind-fest with the most horrible death exp penalty ever (you could go down in level!). You had to group to get any xp past level 10, and groups had to be a very specific balance of classes and levels. It made finding groups extremely tedious and people were total jerks if someone made even the smallest mistake. My friends and I stopped playing when we realized we weren't having fun and the game was only stressing us out. That game was the antithesis of everything I want in an MMO.

I tend to just ignore anyone who calls FFXI the best MMO ever. Worst? Almost. Best? Oh hell the fuck no.

The day after EA releases Battlefield 3? Uh huh.

God damn, it better not.

I doubt EA will allow their two big money makers be released so close together which will cannibalize each others profits.

They will most likely release the SW:TOR towards either around October 1st or near end of November to allow some breathing room.

FFXI was the shit. I left before the game went to lvl 99 (like right before it, last new thing I saw was some new crafting thing they added). Must be crazy different now. The game was getting pretty casual & solo friendly by that point. And for FFXI that's something.

Good memories from that game ;). Dynamis (raiding) sucked though. So long, and so boring. Could never do that regularly. I think I got 3 pieces of armor out of it, which was alright. Useful anyway.

The underlying concepts of Skillchains and Exp Chains in FFXI are some of the greatest teamwork-based gameplay ideas ever.

Most of the rest of the game, not so much.

I vividly remember how fascinating group combat was in that game. The majority of everything else, especially the 4+ days a week I spent running between cities or mining ore and trying to sell it, accomplishing nothing for 4+ hours a night, I've mostly blocked out.

So much of that game, especially the way almost everything in the game was constructed around this wheel of elements, was conceptually fascinating and incredibly deep, but the level of patience required to tolerate the implementation of most of it seems superhuman in retrospect.

Ah man, my bud was a Samurai, I was a Monk, and sheeiiiit. We used to Light & Dark skillchain everything, all day. Was always us closing & opening those. Used to have e-peen battles with DPS, but that damn Samurai.... Too much tp spam to keep up.

Oh, and Bard. fucking bard. KING of exp chaining shit for parties.

I played a Taru SAM/WAR & SAM/THF. Good god I miss that little bastard. But the work necessary to make him what I wanted him to be would have meant quitting the only thing paying for the monthly fee.

They gave people an out with that moogle DLC, shit was crazy powerful. I only got 2/3 before I quit the game for good though :(. But ya, SAM had to get that Hagun. Mnks had it way easier with weapons. Damn i had so much ACC gear it was sickening.

The gear now must be even more crazy powerful.

Man... This game looks really tight. I already pre-ordered the game as soon as there was that announcement of getting into the beta, really excited about that.

I just hope i do not play this game too much. Had a bad episode with WoW for a year. I swear i think i was addicted to that game man, it was like crack & cocaine lol.

C'mon invites!

This is probably the thing I like the most about FFXI, it works so damn well too.

Or just add some alternative graphics. The game knows what surface you are standing on (e.g. playing metal footfall sfx on metal, soft footfall on grass). Add a rock graphic that gets used when you're on "dirt", and keep the oil tank for space stations etc.

It used to be force slam. Picked up the mob, then slammed them on the ground.

They changed it for balance, since the inquisitor parallel wasn't doing the same action of taking a mob out of action like that. They both stun weak & normal mobs, but elites just walk through the tank & lightning.

Ya, the thing they could do is just change what pops up out of the ground based on surface. Any surface on earth, just make it a rock. In some building, or station, that tank, or some random piece of metal.

Luke vs Vader in RotJ is by far the best fight in the series. No flashy bullshit, just pure emotion. And the music...my god.

Nah, Luke spends too much time trying not to fight in RotJ. The best fight in the series from that perspective is ESB, without any competition. Not a single move wasted, and every one furthers the story and relationship between the characters.

As far as pure technical/choreography work, Phantom Menace.

I keep telling myself I don't want to get in the beta that it will just spoil the game, but when I see someone post they got in I'm like /wrists
