And for the record the Empire Guild is now 92 strong thanks to a recent massive influx. Which places us ahead of the 83 member Republic for the first time I believe.

This makes sense:

The guild NDA is different, mentioning that the guild got into the beta is a violation of the NDA.
Individual players can state they are in it, but the second they say their guilds in it... the whole guild gets banned.

i heard through some people it was my little ponies guild.
That would be both hilarious that they got banned and rage inducing that they got into the beta while GAF didn't.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
This makes me want to drop from the GAF guild, I can see us being banned within minutes of being accepted.

Pretty sure we'd just be banned from testing. Not a huge deal with the game coming soon.

Gaf Guild would be banned so fast that Bioware has already done it
Would be funny if they sent all of us ban notifications and then sent the invites after.
And by funny I mean horribly cruel

So what are my options of playing the game before release? I'm extremely interested and I want to try the game day 1 or as close to but my days of blindly dropping money on MMOs are over, too many disappointments.

Pre-order and put in your pre-order key into the swtor.com site to get early access which means you can play before it releases (anywhere from a few days to "weeks" according to them). Or you can hope you get lucky and picked during September's larger scale beta.

You can sign up for the beta or you can preorder the game to get a code to play before it releases.

Is there POD Racing in the game?

I know some of you may question that, but lets say they have POD racing on 8 of the planets, that would be 8 unique tracks. Lets also say that top times are recorded so that you can see how you are doing against other guild members, other players in your faction etc.

To me it would be a nice addition. It can be expanded even more via a quest that gains you a POD racer. Additional quests or a shop that allows you to buy more parts to customize your POD or quests that earn you rare parts.

Tournaments set up so that people can enter 8-12 player races on top of time trials. The ability to combine times from all 8 tracks for a grand total time and be able to compare with your friends etc.

To me, whatever adds more variety...it would be there for those that want to do it, but it could add alot more to the game as well. Basically a racing league within the confines of the main game itself.

No pod racing, and I am sure adding it in at this point would just delay the game. I wouldn't be against adding such a thing later of course.

But this just reflects onto a large problem with MMO's in general, and TOR is just as bad as others in this regard; lack of social things to do outside of grouping to kill stuff/arena's.

What this game SHOULD have in no particular order;

1. Pazaak
2. That holographic combat chess game I can't remember the name of
3. A wide variety of emotes
4. Interactive environments; Currently you can't even sit in chairs, let alone give you fun things to play with, like a cantina jukebox or band you can tip to play specific tunes, how about a public 1v1 arena where you fight a series of monsters inside of a cage (only one person can start this event at a time), and any other number of limitless things I could come up with.

Unfortunately, all of that will be tossed to the wayside in favor of new dungeons/levels/loot and while I am sure those will all be fun, ultimately the game will begin to suffer from a repetitive feeling just like WoW has, and no amount of voice acting will save it from becoming dull.

I want to randomly walk into a cantina after having just watched (and bet on) the hourly duel between a jedi and a rancor at the arena , drop a credit into a jukebox, and play some Pazaak against some other people when suddenly someone shouts out someone is a dirty cheat and watch a PVP fight begin over at the next table. That sort of player-driven event would keep me playing forever, but the dev's will never give players the tools to do such things. Instead we will get Darth Bozo's Crypt which only 10% of us will ever actually get to see.

Hope for a beta invite

When you spend 6.8 trillion on a game, you don't have the resources to add side things that would make the game more enjoyable with minimal effort.

Blizzard announced patch 4.3 today. Deathwing raid, new 5 man dungeons, appearance options to drive people to old-world raids...who said they had nothing to fight TOR with?

Billions of dollars made and it only took 7 years for them to implement it. Keep on trucking, Blizzard.

Is there a GAF beta guild on either side or are these just planned guilds for when the game comes out?
Planned for when they come out. I don't think any of the guild leaders have even been invited.

Meh. A few raids and costume options don't equal a brand new mmo. Not even close.

On the cross faction chat, there is still /say & /yell (local chat). Confirmed again by georg zoeller on the forums. Just not planet wide.

Oh, and

I don't think the Hero Engine could handle good vehicle control, character movement feels floaty just like WoW's engine and if it was similar to vehicle control in WoW podracing wouldn't be satisfying.

Also I agree with all of the above, not only would these things enhance social aspects of the game, but they would also add to the lacking atmosphere. Cantina's are pretty sparse and empty from what I've seen so far.

Coruscant is definitely missing that megatropolis atmosphere, the world just feels desolate compared to everything we know about and have seen of it.

You're playing in a beta with 1000 other people.

Even if the server had 10x more people it wouldn't be believable. Every mmo that I've ever played that had urban environments has suffered from the same problem of feeling desolate. Its a nitpick but even the speeder traffic of Coruscant feels light in comparison to the movies and cartoons.

This will change rather rapidly at launch. You probably won't be able to see/find the npc's in the sea of fresh hero's.

Cantinas don't even have *the* cantina music. :(

Yay. I can still be in the guild even though I won't be playing at launch right? I'm already registered and what not.

Giant ass walkways with npcs spread around is just how MMO's build their worlds. Lot's of room.

At least you have that nice backdrop with cars & the rest of the planet, so you know outside of where you are, the planet is "alive".

I seriously doubt this patch will be out by the time TOR launches. If it does, expect a shit-ton of minor bug-fixing patches.

And I don't think this is a "Oh, let's compete with TOR" patch as much as it is Blizzard's typical "Well, it's that time of the expansion when people start getting burned out with no new content so let's try and get people to hang around and wait for the last content patch" that comes with every expansion they've put out.

Either way, that's some good stuff. It will be neat to see warriors in Valor running around with Ashkandi.
