Yeah thats just the list I was given. It is known Bastila did have a kid in Lore who obviously went on to have more kids. They probably got the whole ancestory bit mixed up unless Revan knocked up Bastila

Edit here we go

Satele Shan's biography page on the official website has several Aurebesh phrases. They translate as "Jedi exiled her mother," "blood of Revan," and "a secret son."

Yea Revan tapped it.

She was apparently working to protect the republic along with some other characters from the first KOTOR, but was looking for Revan who had disappeared. 300 year gap to fill so lot of these story details will probably be revealed in this game. We already know what happened to Revan is supposed to be a major element to one of the games story lines.

I would have to imagine since the specifically mention that she is a direct descendent of Bastila that this Shan's Mother was a troublesome jedi to get exiled from the Order and apprently she herself has a secret son with someone.

That Shan family is all so proper in appearance but renegades under the exterior heh. It confirms either way that Bastila got it on with Revan and spawned kids. Which would mean Bastila had to have found Revan or she had a secret kid before he left.

If Satele Shan has a secret son, that will be interesting considering she is Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

This game better have flashbacks of what happened to Revan after the original KOTOR game. This is the only way I would be interested in this SWTOR.

If I were to guess, this will be done through holo-records and force ghost sequences. I doubt actual flashbacks will occur, although I could be wrong (and I know for a fact that time travel is not an option, thankfully - that would break Star Wars fiction).

Some of the beards need work, but the character creation was awesome. The guy looked completely different from the default by the time it was done.

So the skill trees in ToR will be like the ones in Pre-Cata? Bunch of % skills and such? If there was one thing I really liked about Cataclysm it was that they redesigned their talent trees to make every talent have an impact and be more noticeable on your play style and less about increasing damage with 5% per point. To see Bioware sticking with the old boring Skill Tree design is very discouraging. Also I'm still not sold on the graphics, I understand and appreciate the fact that they are trying to make this available to most computer users but I can't help to think that this game will look outdated awfully fast.

Wait WHAT? Do you mean descendant of Bastila? If not WHAAAT?

Reven got it on with Bastila in the game. Neither were masters of Force Protection though so Reven's trench run attack got his photon torpedoes into her thermal exhaust port.

They cut down on the percentages and such on abilities, but players pretty much still just care about constantly increasing their statistical advantages.

And really, people have said the same thing about WoW's visuals for years, and it still keeps people coming and it's been updated several times as well. I would be certain if TOR lasts long enough it will get visual updates as well.

As for the skills its just the nature of the beast. Even though wow shifted alot of talents to hide the numbers the numbers are still there just not so blatant so people point whore in certain ways.

Even SWG had the system before WoW came out. Developers are just getting smarter and hiding numkbers now because numbers drive players decisions more than fun etc.

It will suffer to some degree. There's options to skip cutscenes in Guild Wars, and you're often outvoted by more experienced players even if you haven't seen it all yet. They're infrequent and certainly less important compared to TOR, but what happens when you've watched the same bit of dialogue ten times over? What happens when a group of people have been through it ten times over?
In FFXI players who have previously seen a cutscene can opt to skip it or watch it again. If you redo a quest that has a cutscene the questgiver will normally just say different dialog without the cutscene. Only problem is if a player who has completed a mission/quests before they may not get properly warped the area the first-timer did. big deal since in the CoP storyline your character gets thrown halfway across the world several times.

It's not a bad looking game for the most part. Not Age of Conan, but not WoW either.

BioWare seemed to add a lot of specular highlights to help light reflectivity and make the game appear better looking than it actually is. The constant sheen is sort of weird taken out of context, but it's not wildly exaggerated.

Ah, Gamestop lied to me. This is goodish news.

Yeah they just hyave a placeholder date. They announced last year that it would launch before the end of March but have recently acknowledged that it wont meet that but Spring remains launch target so the latter half of spring is the likely time

So what's the over and under on the percentage of gamers that create a character will create a Jedi? 80% of user created characters will be Jedi?

Too many Jedi in a game is a bad thing IMHO. Especially an MMO.

It's going to be interesting to see how SOE hands it.

They said they expected the vast majority to start a force class character then move into the others. Though honestly with star wars fans its hard to say. Galaxies had alot of Jedi for the era it was but it never overwhelmed the other classes. Though I think the flaw Old Republic has is it lacks those social classes that people stuck with no matter what.

No Jedi for me.

Gonna grab my pistol.

For me it depends on the jetpack. I'll totally be a bounty hunter if the jetpack is as awesome as it should be.

jetpack>lightsaber>everything else

My Main character is going to be a Sith Sorceror for sure though I will be investing plenty of time into the other classes.

I'm planning on playing a Consular as of now, specifically going for Jedi Wizard. Straight healer all the way. Whether or not I actually end up doing that will likely depend on how they handle the healer class in late game content.

Bounty Hunter and Trooper are what interest me the most right now.

SOE has nothing to do with this game.

Also 4 of the 8 classes are force users, it's set in the Old Republic era, it's meant to have lots of Jedi/Sith in it.

Also unlike SWG, the classes are designed to be balanced. In SWG the problem was they made Jedi incredibly overpowered that it made all other classes pointless.

The more I see some of the screens are making it kind of look like the current Clone Wars series in art style especially the texturing.

Friday update up: http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20110114

Info about ship designs, the Imperial Infiltrator ship, and a Q&A.

Nice bit of news, like other Bioware MMO's, you can get character specific quests through conversation unlocks with your companion characters which will affect their standing with you.

while i appreciate the attempt at the stylized look, playing upcoming MMOs like TERA and Rift really makes this game look...last gen, even before release. i understand it is still a bit early, but i'm hoping retail will have the option to maximize texture sharpness, shadows, draw distance, etc. i need to see more to be hyped.

even dc universe is graphically superior, imo.

That's dumb. If it's because of the story, at least make it harder so that you can brag that you made it there.

At the same time, story wise, especially on non PvP servers, you shouldn't see your sworn enemies just strutting around your capital.

Not really bothered by the news.

The enemy does not have to be overtly displaying their loyalties. I mean you have a whole class dedicated to being a spy.

Galaxies added a feature though it never fully got worked out where Troops would randomly stop players and check their papers and such and if they found them to be the enemy they would become attackable etc

The very first video they released was that awesome CGI movie that showed the Sith invading Coruscant... That's a silly restriction.

There's probably going to be some kind of event later on that will allow them to be on the planet. At least that would be kinda cool, story-wise.

I would hope with an expansion or something it opens up. They are going lore wise is why you cant go. Peace Treaty in effect etc etc. The fact the game is all about the war reheating and going full scale means treaty gets voided

Galaxies had plenty of prototype solutions in place that fully fleshed out and working would make covert exploring work well. Hell If you even said you were rebel or a jedi in front of Stormtroopers they would react and go for the players.

First real bad news from Bioware.

Imperial Players cannot go to Coruscant and Republic cannot go to Dromund Kaas,

http://swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5209952#edit5209952

Not happy with the news of planetary lockouts for specific factions

Not really surprising. This isn't galaxies with how open the game world was to everyone, and the planets in this game are not going to really be planets either like they were in Galaxies. It's like the KOTOR and other Bioware games where you can only go where they allow you too.

I wouldn't say DC universe is that impressive at all right now even though I am enjoying it, graphically it's fairly meh to me. The problem with games like TERA and RIFT as always has been with "realisitc" art styles is that they age poorly as time passes, while more cartoony and stylistic designs will generally have more design longevity. And as been said before it's also obviously helps for matters of having a broader playerbase who can play the game than making a high end looking game that few can run well. So many of these slick looking MMO's that have come out, tend to run like shit at start.
