People who are worried about christmas affecting sales or their time to play are silly. I spend christmas with my family, that gives me 4 days before christmas to play.

Even if you celebrate christmas 5 days is plenty of time ahead of time to release it. And if you dont celebrate it than its just a day. People are off work, school, whatever already so its a perfect time.

Unless you work retail, which in that case you are working your ass off and all you can think about is a shower and a bed. Not everyone in the world is on holiday during the x-mas season.

I just would like to know when the early access will be? Now that we have a date, we need to get the early access time now.

The only thing good about the date is that I pre-ordered two collectors editions for 2 friends that are brothers and now I can make this their x-mas gift! So that part works out for me.

Lastly, this gives the team about 2 solid months before they need to press the disks for retail release and about 2 months and 2 weeks to have the final patch ready before early access...that is alot of time and they must feel very comfortable with the newest build.

Interview with Daniel Erickson.

Best Info:

Each class (8) have three unique Chapters, so we get 24 unique chapters. And the first Chapter for one Class alone is a little longer then Kotor1. And we still missing the normal World Story and Companion Storys.
So amazing i want this game so bad :-|

edit: and one little funyn thing. u get Evil Points if u flirt as a Jedi because of the Jedi Codex
Holy shit! It's total biscuit! :F

Solo content is being hyped up a lot. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

What a funny way to word things so it looks like you have more unique content then you actually have. From everything I've read so far, most of the content in the game is going to be shared with your faction, so when he says "one chapter is longer then Kotor 1", I assume he's adding the shared content along with the unique class content. They're not doing themselves any favors by being misleading. They keep touting the "unique story" aspect of the game when referring to replayability that, until a month ago, I believed there were completely different experiences with each class.

As far as the release date goes, I like it. Between work and school, it's tough to sink into an MMO. I remember one of the WoW expansions dropping at a Dec. date?... that was good times.

Now to hope for beta access, so I can figure out if I'm still getting the game.

Huttball does look fun though I have heard Warrior and its counterpart with leap are a bit overpowered in it with the ability to leap large distances

With the recent changes, a lot of things with the game will be different. There was new skills added with the recent patch notes and a lot of skill tweaks.

Where did you hear this?
Friend in beta.

Basically just said Warriors and such were great because once they got the ball it was possible to use the force leap attack to move large distances

Wait...the whole class storyline thing is a bullshit gimmick then?

Each Class has its own unique storyline that plays out over the course of the full game. So the main storyline of the game exists for all classes but they all have their own storyline aside the big picture

Each class has it's unique story, and each faction has it's own. The unique class story makes up around 25% of a characters play through according to the reports from tester guesstimates. It's a traditional MMO so you got lot of shared content and areas that are just part of the "world story".

I figured this much, but it's good to hear it spelled out.

I usually only get 2 or 3 classes to max level in MMOs before I get sick of the games anyway, so this doesn't really change my plans.

That's what i was worried about, i suppose i'll get atleast two playthroughs out of it.

Just got an amazon email regarding my Collector's edition pre-order estimated arrival date...

"New estimated arrival date: December 27 2011 - December 29 2011"

WTF?? Earliest I can expect it is a week after launch day with standard shipping? I thought Amazon had some way of getting games shipped out to you by release day?

That's called "Release-day shipping" its not the option you chose. They dont have release date shipping as an option yet.

Each class do really have 3 chapters of unique story.
Yeah, I edited that in.

Also when he says "longer than all of KOTOR 1", take that with a grain of salt, because "length" in an MMO context generally means "padding". And from what we know from beta testers, there isn't a shortage of filler "kill/loot/retrieve foozle" quests.

Bioware must have known it was my birthday today (yesterday?) b/c I got my regular beta re-invite at in the afternoon - plenty of time to play the evening away.

Ah, life is good again.

I don't need hype. I have the beta.

Impressions of new build have been fairly positive, I'm glad they are waiting till Dec now, hopefully get out more polish onto it instead of rushing it for Oct. 2 new flashpoints is also good, gives hope for more to make it in for launch, as it seems a big complaint was that there wasn't enough of them while they were a highlight of the game.

Want to hear how the open pvp on Illum turns out, though it sounds like most of it's functions are currently not implemened yet in the build.

Game is completely off my radar now.

Good job with the beta weekends bioware. September is over. No beta invite to try this out.

I'm mad.

Shit happens. And you're not being invited to play the game. But to test it.

Now now, dry those tears Gritesh. There's no need for such bitter and extreme feelings.

No games have a free trial until a month or two after the game released, at least

Many MMOs not even till even later. They don't want people downloading the entire game client just to do a demo when they are trying to sell the whole thing and the bandwidth issues of it. And most don't want to take the time to create a special "demo" small client to try out their MMO or it just doesn't work that way. Probably be quite some time before we see TOR come out with free trials.

Some Numbers

Comparison of pre-order numbers of games at 13 weeks before launch, since beginning of july: (multi-console games only appear once, on their strongest selling console)

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 | X360 | 780,694
2. Star Wars: The Old Republic | PC | 489,811
3. Battlefield 3 | X360 | 359,810
4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim | X360 | 325,428
5. Assassin's Creed: Revelations | X360 | 276,694
6. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception | PS3 | 164,470
7. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword | Wii | 162,931
8. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary | X360 | 148,664
9. Batman: Arkham City | X360 | 131,339
10. Rage | X360 | 81,725

These are the numbers before the Release Date, with active NDA and no real open Beta. And no digital pre order numbers, EU-Numbers.
And still very high numbers without all this.
