Customization for ships? I assume there will be some form, it sounded like one can get stuff for ships doing the space missions but they haven't really gone into it. Since your ship is also like player housing, I could imagine they would want to include some customization options.
Movie poster vet rewards incoming :p

In the crew skills video we saw a guy frozen in carbonite in the Bounty Hunters ship. I could see that as an item you could use to customize the look of your ship. :p

I hope they implement those little missions inside your craft like they had in the Kotor series.

Like that Mandolorian speaking kid stowaway and those frog like things....the spice you that was hidden inside your ship that you could sell or give to a certain person....ect...

I loved those little sub-side adventures. Maybe thats just me though. :p

Still up for debate, don't panic. :p
I hope not. I like PvP as much as the next guy, but it's nice to choose when to PvP. Getting repeatedly ganked by a higher level player isn't really fun when you are just trying to quest and level up. It's not like there won't be PvP options on the PvE servers. I used to PvP a lot on a PvE WoW server, and that was before battlefields.

I don't think for the purposes of GAF guilds that PvP servers would make sense. These aren't hardcore guilds.

I suppose, I personally wouldn't care either way. I mean if the majority feels that we should be on a PvE server, than by all means lets go to a PvE server. ^_^

Yeah, I never enjoyed Gankers but there is some appeal with PvPing pretty much anywhere rather than just isolated to arena's. :p

But yeah, you're right, PvE makes more sense in that this is more or less a casual community. :)

So, assuming it's done like WoW (pretty safe assumption), you can PvP pretty much anywhere if you flag yourself. Back in vanilla WoW, my friends and I participated in some pretty epic PvP battles in the Arathi Highlands. Amazing how many people who wouldn't normally PvP would jump into the fray when there were already 20-30 people flagged on each side. PvP snowball effect. :)

Yeah I think we're going PVE on both guilds (so both guilds can get in on the same servers) since we really arn't going super serious. Just a bunch of GAFers together. If you to PVP, you still can, just have options for everyone.

Now that sounds pretty good, the flagging system would nice, hopefully its implemented. :D

I've only ever played on PvP servers ever since EQ(I meant EQ, played as a Barbarian Shaman....^_^), so tbh I don't know much about how PvE servers play like, so obviously there is a little bias on my part but I do like this flagging system you mentioned. :D

Tython video

Those high balcony pathways on Tython really remind me of the Woodelf treetop home city in EQ. *nostalgia*

And the taxi system is absolutely breath taking IMO...its like the same feeling I felt when I saw it in WoW for the first time... :D

I have a feeling that this game will have huge server crashes at release. And we'll be downloading patches for like hours at a time. I'm scarred by Age of Conan...... *sigh*

JO: Death penalty less harsh than other MMO's. Combat more challenging so you might die more than other games. Want to avoid rage quits.
DE: Don't want you to sleepwalk through the game. James didn't want people eating bread and sitting around while playing.
After watching several videoes I thought it was the other way around. I have yet to see anyone die ingame (or perhaps I have missed that)

The video I linked has a guy dieing in game. He gets revived back in Tython with half his health but I'm sure they did that for PAX, it'll likely be different upon release. :)

Demos almost never have difficulty high. Especially on a timed demo since they want participants to get through the whole event in the demo timeframe

Well I wasn't just talking about the recent wave of videos. Also those from earlier be it official or leaked.

That's a sign of success :D - Though I'm sure we'll get pre-downloads of the game client. It'd be silly not to have that kind of option at this point in time.

I wonder what we'll see this coming E3. :p

Yeah thats definitely a sign of sucesss but also a sign of poor planning on the developers part, that there servers can't withstand the amount of people coming online. :p

I hope TOR is prepared for the most part. XD

So, I've never played an MMO before but the original KOTOR games are some of my favorites... will I be able to enjoy this game?

Well they give you the option of playing the entire game solo like a single player game. I think thats pretty awesome. :p

They really put a lot of attention to making new MMO players comfortable, so I wouldn't worry. :p

A release date! /wishful thinking

Haha, yeah I hope we get a release date sometime in the next few months. Once I know when its coming out, I'll be saving up to build me a long over do PC(last time I got a new PC was in 2003, been using laptops since for all my gaming/school/work related needs but I think this game really deserves to be played on the highest settings. :p).

I expect sort of the same thing that was seen in Rift. We had a lot of server overload in population. New servers were put up and everything evened out well. Though I'm not really sure how a Dev determines how many servers they start out with (which actually would be very knowledgeable to know if someone knew this answer).

This makes me happy. I love me some KOTOR.

Yes thats good, Rift seems like they prepared for the most part but then there are games that are just a colossal failure on launch. I mean AoC wasn't the greatest MMO but it to me had really horrible breakdowns where we had to patch for hours on hours on hours....

Yeah, I still play KOTOR & KOTOR2(not a bioware title unfortunately, still a great game) to this day on my laptop.

And not to mention how many people were angry at there not being KoTOR 3, it makes sense for this game to have a massive single-player playability.....

Personally I'm a KoTOR fan, SW fan and MMO fan, so it makes me really, really delighted to see this game being made. ^_^

edit: Sorry for the quick, double post, I don't know how to delete this message, otherwise I'd multi-quote in my previous post. ^_^

You can solo most every MMO nowadays, you just miss out on various content if you don't group up with others. Each class has it's own story, but there are major story elements that will be reserved for group play also, though it's going to be more world story related, and not so much as being part of your individual class storyline.

I lol'd. Maybe you get a pop-up screen asking if you really want to die. Selecting "Yes" brings a second pop-up screen asking "Are you sure you really really want to die?", but this time the "Yes" button is greyed out.

from QA today

Reid: Explain day/night cycle more?
JO: Position of sun is fixed. We wanted a whole bunch of distinct looking worlds. Would require too many programmers.
DE: Having day/night would make things look significantly worse.

That vid of Taral V was excellent. I'm a big fan of MMOs but when you see vids of them they never really look overly exciting or fun. Maybe its 'cause I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd but that looked so much fun. Really like how the game looks too; remember thinking it looked like arse back when it was revealed.

Tucah

you speak so well
I've always dismissed this game because I don't want a KotOR MMO, I want KotOR3. That said, watching that gameplay video has me COMPLETELY sold, instantly became one of my most anticipated games.
