It does? It sounds more like people love to bitch about decisions Bioware made very early on to make an accessible MMO (medium tier graphics, traditional MMO combat and skills trees).
Ok? What does that have to do with the fact that the game is supposed to be out right now, is several months late and now we dont even see a release date? Be a sycophant if it makes you happy though.

The game was never suppose to be out, and was never delayed. They have never stated a release date.

I find it funny that a game that is larger then any one single product blizzard has put out gets shit on for not being out right NOW!.

Yet Diablo 3, a game many times smaller, a game that is already starting to look dated, can come out whenever it wants with no criticism.

FUNNY STUFF>

I'm not sure why that's supposed to be surprising. Comparing Blizzard to any other studio is foolish by itself. This game has been to many E3s now and every year sounds the same to me. I've been following this since 2008(!) and now I'm tired of waiting. Maybe they announced it too early, targeting Spring of this year was another misstep to announce

Beta has been going on for a while, you mean open beta.

I mean an expanded beta (stress tests, that sort of thing), I doubt there will ever be an open beta.

That's just because I had to choose one. Plenty of room for everyone.
I was more worried about not having many people(form the guild) on at my play times, but I can cross that bridge if it comes . I will apply later tonight.

Right. They should just shove it out door before it's ready. That's always a good idea with an MMO.

I heard from a little birdy that the new build being currently tested just introduced a UI for 8 and 24 man raids with normal and "hardmodes".

And here is a pic of the new UI

They have not once mentioned a release date. So, not sure where you are getting your (mis)information from. Have you ever followed an MMO from announcement -> beta -> release? If so, you will know that what is going on with TOR is not unique in the slightest. Better for Bioware to take their time and make it as bug-free as possible before release. Otherwise, they are signing their death sentence right out of the gate.

Back on topic, I'm loving the new UI!

A Q4 2011 release would be the perfect window for Star Wars; any earlier this year, and the game would have been crushed on WoW: Cataclysm release hype alone.

Only right now is it obvious that World of Warcraft has begun it's decline. We know of the 600k subscriber drop-off in NA/EU. We have the anecdotal evidence in-game and on forums of empty friends lists/guild rosters and vacant realms since the expansion. And there seems to be a general sense of discontent within the community given the post-release support of Cataclysm-- I understand that there is "QQ" or whatever, but this is unlike anything ive seen in previous expansion packs.

I think if Bioware/EA nail a late 2011 or early (EARLY) 2012 release, you will see a FUCKTON of MMO diehards not just trying The Old Republic, but abandoning WoW entirely for it and not looking back.

A friend of mine got into beta. I am watching him play via skype right now. I am not going to go shitting on the NDA to much.

That said. The leveling in the game is honestly mind blowing. I can't believe how good the dialogue/cut scenes/choices/questing is, even at a low level. This may as well be a console level single player experience, in a MMO world, with other people around. No more clicking an exclamation mark and having to read a dialogue box. WoW's main story is going to feel so dated compared to this.

Also, the amount of DETAIL in the environment, even at low levels, is astonishing. Thinking back to the starting levels in other MMO's, and comparing it to this, there is no contest. There is atmosphere, detail, and it feels like a living world is around you.

The combat is also not a direct copy of World of Warcraft's. No que, no auto-attack (which makes up a bulk of melee dmg in WoW), no right-click chase down engage.

It is still a beta, and there have been a few bugs and glitches even at this point. But so far much less then you would experience during a new WoW expansion for example.

I am going to continue to watch ( and play). I am not going to kill the NDA in here. But I will update on impressions and feelings on how things are going. As it stands now, much of my early fears about the game are gone. This won't be a flop.

How would you be breaking NDA if it was your friend who got in to BETA?

Its not like anything you disclose can be tracked back to him/her unless you explicitly mention his/her name...

Oh wait, you mean your "friend" *taps side of nose*....*wink, wink, nudge nudge*

congrats on getting into BETA

Oh the beta servers are back up now? I hope they start adding in more people.

Do your "friend" use that website to access the client or was that only in the earlier builds? I just tried logging in, but I can't see any servers...

Dunno what you are talking about honestly.

Is a legit beta, the download was massive.

I'm burnt out with the medieval fantasy genre. After getting into Mass Effect and SC2, I'm really hungry for a Sci Fi MMORPG. This is looking to fit the bill.

These kind of posts make the wait unbearable. :-/

I would laugh so hard if they threw the release date on a random post somewhere just for the reactions. Troll everybody with that train comment.

I can't believe people on here are angry at Bioware for not rush releasing it and shooting themselves in the foot like every other mmo.
