Preach. GAF before this current generation was a nightmare if you were a PS3 owner. Where do you kids think the infamous "Sony just shot themselves in the foot" came from? Trolling, calling anyone who said anything positive about PS3 in the "Sony Defense Force", etc. It was pathetic. The difference between now and then however is that this isn't a case of two of the same consoles with one being the obviously weaker choice. You have two radically different consoles that are going at it two different ways. What's really chafing Xbox fanboys asses is that despite the XSX having a 15% increase in raw power, the PS5 was built to be able to punch above its weight with the SSD and I/O throughput. Anyone notice that the same people keep saying the same shit about the GPU and CPU, yet can't actually explain why it can't work? Pretty transparent.
 
Xbox has to seal the deal with a good lineup of games. If they do that, then they have a real shot at truly shattering the anti-Xbox sentiment embedded in forums all this gen (for good reason partially, considering how the Xbox One was announced).

Power alone wont be enough to turn it around, as we saw with the Xbox One X. But between the Series X being stronger, their services being extremely compelling (Game Pass), if they can be aggressive on price and games lineup, things can get interesting. I'd go back to being a 3 console owner.

Not mad at all, just calling a spade a spade. It is even likely I'll refrain from buying a ps5 if it has fan/heating issues.

But that doesn't change the fact 1st party ps5 games have the ps5 as the lowest denominator, while the series x will have xbox one s. Game design is going to suffer because of it.

So according to you, Xbox OG gamers were the ones who started console warring with PS2 gamers about 20 years ago.

This is somehow a big lingering concern spanning two decades, yet for other fan wars which preceded that (which surely involved winning sides from PS1 and PS2 fans), that's something not worth bringing up.

There's nothing skewed. I replied to a guy who said Xbox fans had to deal with this for 7 years while ignoring what Xbox fans were doing.

There's no reason to bring up what happened before Xbox fans started bragging about power because i'm talking about the time when Xbox fans did and why PS fans responded this generation.

You shouldn't have an issue with this since it actually happened

Hardware issues are pretty big deal.

And that HW baseline is only for 1st party a only for 1-2 years? And honestly who cares about 1st party and it could be see now, that even MS don't care about Xbox One OG performance.

Also, it wasnt even Build for series X. It's an old port.
On PS5 site you can be lucky IF PS5 even PLAYS THE DAMN PS4 game! Xbox series x plays all games Xbox one games + a lot 360/OG games. . This is ridiculous.

Well, it's great that you're happy with up-rezzed ports cause that was my point.... that seems to be all you're gonna get on Series X.
 
I think it speaks for itself that nobody cares about the "bottleneck" of 16gb RAM anymore. A day before the PS5 dev talk, Xbox was doomed. It's a shame the tone has shifted drastically though. I know people are passionate one way or another, but there's no need to insult other members.

As someone who previously owned all consoles of every generation plus primarily being a PC gamer (at least most of the time), I was getting really annoyed by all of the Sony fanboys on this forum (and elsewhere). You can say about Phil Spencer what you want, he is to be applauded for the turnaround he achieved with the Xbox brand. I agree with you that (exclusive) games will be a very important, if not the most important factor in this equation going forward. Xbox as a brand now has a real chance at turning things around in the US and UK. I say that because unfortunately, Japan and Europe seem to be full of braindead Sony zombies who will buy anything this company releases without even having a look at Microsofts offering (which is clearly more consumer friendly at the moment). I'll buy a PS5, but I'm also relieved that MS came back strong and that the Series X will be my main console platform this coming gen (pretty sure third party titles will perform better on it across the board).

Reminds me a bit of Gamecube vs Xbox but probably closer. Xbox was jusy a rawdog power beast, Gamecube was more specifically designed to be a fast efficient and cost effective console that ended up doing some things better

As a long time Sony gamer, I think the company has what's coming to them. Gonna hang out on the PC for a while.

To the X-Box fans, I think very few people were ever shitting on you. They were mainly shitting on the Xbone, which deserved to be shat on.

And Xsex? As if that wasn't planned in advance by 50-year old executives in a boardroom...
 
It would be a good step forward if all people trying to "feel better" about PS5 specs could post in a single, dedicated thread, rather than spamming the forum with new threads all day.
 
Have a look in the 'how can MS capitalise' thread and tell me it's any different in there. Like I said before, that's how it has been forever. Can you ring up the 16 studios tell them to bin whatever they're doing for the next box and head home then?

Since the SeX up scales old games automatically along with every One title out of the box there's no reason for them to be at work for the ports 😂

It was pre-PedoEra because mods were a big part of Sonygaf. After the mental meltdown we got mods that doesn't seem to judge because of platform but the content or lack of hereof. You literally got banned for saying you preferred Xbox over PS4, and trolling were acceptable one way. I was a lurker back then and I remember it damn well.

But hey if you enjoy that time make a user on Era, they are still running it the same way. You'd fit right in with your mindset.

In this one instance, and only this instance, the other place is actually much better than Gaf as there rampant trolling by Xbox fanboys over 'winning' on paper with tflops has been put under control.

Reading there is sane discussion and interest in PS5's exciting design and game-changing hardware features instead of incessant 'TFLOPS' and on paper performance trolling.

Message boards were a lot more popular in the 90s then they are today. A lot of the crowd still posting on places like this are the same people from back then. I think the average age around here is 30+(?) now.

A lot of stuff still reads like the same console warring nonsense from a long time ago. Being an adult now I will buy both boxes and be happy with what both offer. I don't have to defend one because my parents said they would only buy me a Genesis or SNES and not both :messenger_tongue:

Even though I jumped to primarily being a PC Gamer (and always been), I'd always had a soft heart for Xbox exclusives. I have well over 800 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, and I have heard since the release of the One that it has no games. The most stupid argument ever.

But now that the tables have turned, Xbox fans does the same. The difference is they should be banned for doing it for 2 days, while Sony fanboys have done it for 7 years
