That would be awesome; got my emails for my 2 controllers and my steam link. I really can't wait to get my hands on them

Definitely let us know about the Steam Link impressions. I thought about it but I have enough PCs in the house, however the last thing I need is my son in my living room play L4D2 on another device ;)

Just got my email confirming my shipping address for October 16th.

I wish I had decided I wanted the link early on, but its only another 3 weeks afterwards.

Got an email too. Hopefully an indication of early shipping. Controller looks awesome and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it.

Yeah, I didn't want a link at first, but I'm considering one now. I think I'll wait for reviews.

I got that email also. I hope the Gaben blesses us with the controller even earlier than October 16th.

Krejlooc, thanks so much for the stream last night, sorry i had to go early.

GAF at large has treated this controller with probably the highest level of wilful ignorance I have seen on this forum, and that's saying something.

I think people have a right to be skeptical, since it looks quite clumsy in every video I've seen. I hope it'll be possible to play something like Endless Space or similar in the living room in a satisfactory fashion, but my expectations are very low in regards to how it'll function as a normal controller (yes, yes, I know it's not a normal controller..).

The dongle supports up to 4 controllers

Four! Which is actually very exciting!

After setting it up properly, I prefer it over my PS4/360 controllers with Rocket League.

No. Valve didn't want a controller attempting to charge non rechargeable batteries.

This is from the person who posted the size comparisons.

Sounds likes there's a chance they'll start shipping at the beginning of Oct then. I certainly won't complain.

My guess is they are going to start assembling and packaging the controllers and links very soon. Just getting final details for shipping in order.

I would expect the controller closer to the 16th of October. Every thing is being assembled and probably shipped in house from Valve, so I would expect they need the extra time to get these pre-orders fufilled. They also probably have even more November orders to fufill than October ones.

I would imagine their production line can't compare to those of giant corporations.

How will this controller handle Source mods like GoldenEye Source? That mod is not on the official Steam Store, but I have it added to my Steam library.

I just hope that I can use every function of the controller like it was an officially supported game.

What functionality/ if any will I be missing for games not officially supported?

Twitch is running terribly for me as expected, even though youtube can run at 1080/60FPS never stopping.

Oh well, I can always read the impressions later on :(

None at all. You can have all functionalities in any application. It doesn't even need to be a game. You can have full Steam Controller mapping and settings in the Google Chrome, for instance.

That's right. Without running the game through Steam you can still have the default bidings and settings if Steam is running on the background but you can't configure it.
That's awesome. I hope I can somehow load Origin games through Steam like Titan Fall and Star Wars Battlefront. I really want to try those games to see how they feel with full controller functionality.

Are there many published profiles up on steam yet for the controller Krejlooc?

Are you publishing yours as well? I will be interested in your MGS V profile.

You can. Krejlooc was playing Titanfall on the stream last night.

I've been publishing everything I do. Thus far, there are only a tiny amount of online profiles, given the limited number of people with a controller.

Is there a voting system for profiles? I have to imagine there are going to be some crap ones eventually.

Didn't Valve basically say that the voting works by simply using a profile? So using a profile gives it a vote and not using it takes it away. Also that the one that has the most votes, ie. is used the most, becomes the default profile for that game?

got the same email regarding 'make sure it's right before sept 25'. I see this just as them wanting to have confirmation of address, not necessarily them sending it out early.

that being said, this is valve we're talking about here so if the product is ready I wouldn't be surprised if they sent them out to the early buyers before the projected date

I just got mine in the mail tonight. I was one of the Beta members. I'm the guy that ended up talking for a few minutes at Steam Dev Days about the controller.

I didn't have much of a chance to play with it. Mainly setting it up and putting it away.

I don't love the glossy finish. The matte beta controller felt nicer, even though it looked unfinished. I think I was willing to overlook the lack of finish on a controller I received over 18 months ago. Today, I don't love the feel of it. Here's the best proof I can provide at the moment (https://twitter.com/trialbygame), but I think some of you might remember me.

When I was playing with the Beta controller (mine broke after a few months of use,) one of my favorite games to play with it was Super Hexagon. Using the back paddles, or the touch pads to control both felt great and somewhat intuitive. I was kind of excited to try that tonight, and I wasn't impressed. The back paddles are harder than I remember (I'll try to confirm this in the next day or two.) and feel a little stiff for me.

The process of setting up the controller was fine, though I don't love the new typing interface. I had been a fan of the old input system, but I'll see how I feel once I've had a few days or weeks to get used to something new. I had a slight bug with some unexpected haptic feedback while typing, but hopefully that will be fixed before release (or maybe it's just a problem with my device.)

Inserting and removing the batteries was unintuitive and I ended up slamming my fingers into the case quite hard.

If anyone's interested, I'll probably go over all of this in a video in the coming week. I've graduated from law school, so I'm working regular hours and will have less time to stream and demo the controller, but I'll try to get something up. I've stayed a lurker on NeoGAF for a couple years now, but when I have something a little more exclusive, I always try to come here and share.

I remember you man. You were one of the most prominent beta testers, gave out information at a time when there was not much information regarding the steam controller.

I thought you came across quite well at the steam dev days, must have been quite nerve racking.

Oh hey, looking forward to that vid! Can't you change back to the old one? There was supposed to be a toggle for that.

That means it should work without steam running, right? Steam shouldn't be running when you're in the windows login screen.

Pretty sure there is an option in the BPM settings to choose between the old Daisywheel method and the new qwerty one for the controller
