Stellar Blade debuts on Steam with over 192k CCU (best-performing single-player PlayStation Studios release)

They absolutely torpedoed their potential sales by catastrophic proportions partnering with Sony, they would have dwarfed this number if it'd released on PC during the marketing blitz and launch hype cycle. The game ran and looked like shit on base PS5.
They couldn't make this game without Sony's funding and co-development expertise.

This may be a stupid question, but is the actual game good? Or rather, is it great/exceptional? Or is it pretty standard for a 3rd-person action game, just with nice visuals?
imo a very good game. Especially amazing music and great level design with backtracking/unlocking/secrets.

Big boss fights and action combat that features parries but doesn't really feel like souls because you are zipping around doing crazy super moves like a character action game.

Story has some silly parts and some of the voice acting is bad but very interesting themes/concepts explored.

Oh yes beautiful heroine with tons of unlockable costumes and a nice bottom but that's what people already know about the game lol.

The first hour is really good so playing a demo gives you a great feel for the game.

It's sometimes rough around the edges, but Stellar Blade is an engaging action-adventure game nonetheless.

And yes, plot, characters and setting too. And I'm talking literally, this is not another silly innuendo.

It's a decent game. I got about 60% or so thru the PS5 version and found it enjoyable. It's a very parry/perfect dodge style affair, similar but not exactly like Sekiro. Boss wise I basically was up in their grill perfect parrying or dodging and punishing.

I found the environments 'nice'. They look good but seems to have something missing that elevates them to really good.

Character models are obviously a highlight. Cutscenes and direction are pretty drab imo. There is very little dynamics going on between the characters compared to decent cinematic games. The set piece action is well done tho. I little too much slow mo though for my taste.

Soundtrack is brilliant tho. Best part of the game for me.

Didn't play this when it came out on console. Might check it out. I don't care about the big tits and nice ass in a game, but is the gameplay any good? Challenging with depth?

It's going to get higher because for some reason they chose to do a midnight launch instead of the regular 7pm so many Europeans didn't even get to play when it released.

Happy to see it doing well. Hopefully this lets Sony know we want more awesome single player games like Stellar Blade with cool characters
Yep. Its demo did not convince me that it is a game I have to play, too much like Dmc, too little like Bayonetta, but any SP success with characters that are allowed to look sexy is a win for gaming. Even if it is literally killing women... 🥴

The game run at 60 fps in performance mode and looked great on my PS5. Also Stellar Blade would have been a smaller game without Sony. They told they were able to expand the game in size thanks to Sony help. Not to mention the state the game would have be released without the experience and help from the XDEV studio that helped in the development. This was ShiftUp 1st console game.

Here's a screenshot i took from the unpatched (Uncensored) version 1.0 of the game on the base PS5.

Wanted to play this playstation but the price is way too high so I waited got the pc release, I've now played the demo and enjoyed it, looked at the pc price... Way too high.

CD keys has a discount which helps but it's still very high price so I'm actually going to be smart about it and play other games first in the hope of a further discount as I'd like the premium edition.

I'd have to guarantee 60 hours of gameplay to pay £60 for the premium edition that I can get at that price.

Its bizarrely expensive for what I saw in the demo, good but not full high price good.

I found it aggressively mediocre. Good combat, nothing mind-blowing, but absolutely dreadful story with annoying characters and voices.

The game literally wouldn't exist without sony. Also…"ran like shit" are we just saying anything now? Lmao

It's a pretty good game. The story is a bit meh, but not bad. Just average.

Visuals are great. Character models are great. Animations are cool. Combat is very fun.

Is there a hair mod for eve already? I decided to skip it because it looked out of place when playing. Felt annoyed seeing that thing fly around on screen.

That's what happens when exclusives hit PC several years after launch. Stellar Blade came out on PC just a year later, which is how it should be - while there's still interest and the devs are adding fresh content.

But when they release a game 3 - 4 years later, only a handful of people are still interested enough to buy it.

you can turn off ponytail I think, it's in the base game, no mod needed

It's a PlayStation Studios game, produced by the Japanese XDEV studio.

Sony owns the title, not the studio.

does sony really owns the IP?

Sony doesnt own the IP or the Studio.

They have a publishing deal with ShiftUp and obviously XDev will work with the developer because thats literally XDevs job, to help partners get games to meet "PlayStation quality".......says something about the higher up that Concord actually came out.

Easily an 8/10 for me! The combat is super satisfying, the visuals are stunning, and the soundtrack absolutely slaps. The quests could've been better and the story's just okay, but overall I had a great time.

Found this game to be incredibly boring.
Wont be rebuying on Steam until a major sale hits.

Yeah shes fine af, but lets be honest the combat is very stilted , why are you so boxy and a squared off against single enemies.
Nah

Nah

Same here. I don't understand how this game is being so praised

Soundtrack is a masterpiece and another category where this game was grossly overlooked during the VGA's and other awards last year.
I just see them, and the oscars, as a closed organisation of fart huffers just smelling each others food ghosts that are utterly oblivious to what the 'outside' group (Customers) actually like..

It won't last forever. You can only mark each others homework for so long.

Only behind Helldivers 2's peak of 447,193 CCU in overall performance.
(Stellar Blade is listed under a slightly different name for PlayStation Publishing, so that's why it's not listed among the other games).
53,728 now.

best-performing PlayStation Studios ?

First of all the game was announced for pc and xbox too
Project Eve was announced as multi-platform.

Second thing

Shift Up is not owned by Sony , it's not first party Studio.

resetera on suicide watch

Haven't even touched or clicked that site in, like, a year touching now, God knows how bad it's got with all that unhinged noise and lack of legit decorum.

Only got to look at my little one and beautiful wife (officially set this August), knowing how lovely it is now happily when it comes to my use of time lol.

Great games with their vision fully realised without any shenanigans and online delusion any day.

I know what I'm playing this weekend. Hopefully I can get over browsing Nexusmods relatively quick....

But in all seriousness, I'm glad I skipped the PS5 version now that it seems to be a good port. Can't wait to finally play it.

Super meh game, dropped it in the second half as I lost any interest. Not surprised about steam's CCU, because this audience don't care about games's quality.

It has good combat but the poor open world levels and sidequests nearly ruined the game. I gave up on my New Game+ playthrough because I don't want to torture myself with all the backtracking again*

The game should've been linear.

*to unlock all Eve outfits you need to do every sidequest of the game... twice.
