Hey Ultimate!

If you're playing Catherine right now, would you mind doing multiplayer? Or are you still doing the campaign?

I don't think most people take her philosophy seriously any more. At least I hope not.

My dad is convinced Atlas Shrugged is one of the greatest modern books ever written. I saw how big it was and was like "nah", at which point he bemoaned the waste of my potential.

I'm still doing the Campaign... That arcade game is really fun and I lose track of time. I'll rush through the campaign

Yeah, they're really awesome, as long as they're not written by "Objectivists."

...I really hate Ayn Rand. Her books are uninteresting and unengaging, and came up with a philosophy that literally says "Fuck anyone that isn't you. If they can't deal, it's their problem." She's an asshole. Who writes poorly.
Also, her name is confusing. :p
I've only watched the movie of Atlas Shrugged tbh, but... sigh. It just felt like a narrow viewpoint. Not reading her writing word for word might have left me with a different impression though.

I like laissez-faire economics, but I dunno about using it as a moral philosophy.

Were you seduced by my avatar and realized that im the top tier friender?
No,
I was seduced by your terrible nico gifs
More tactical RPGs need versus components. The DS Disgaea versus was great.
Yep yep yep.
If I remember right, Sacred stones had that. It might've? Kicked fucking ass. And then they took it out again.
Xcom did that okay.
he isn't best friender tho.

Git gud at posting.

and you didn't like any characters? Even with supports that didn't go into S?
I don't want to hear that from the guy who stabbed me in the chest earlier.
People who rely on defense as a main priority are cowards, though.

Anyways, I can accept FE7 having really strong characters, but everyone who ISN'T one of the big popular names is so goddamn weak in presence compared to other FE characters that I can't possibly push FE7 as the best.

Besides, I'd guarantee that Ike in both Path of Radiance
and Radiant Dawn
is the best Lord in the western-released games, natch.

Also I'm home, gonna go on Ultimax if anyone wants. If no one does I'll go to Arena.

You fucking wut mate
Ike
IKE?
Oh my... Oh no... just...eww
Eww
Also, no, some of the characters are pretty good if you do their supports. The main strength of 7 is in its gameplay, best designed of the series. it's great.

I can confirm the movie is hot garbage compared to the book. Not to mention it apparently only covers the first third of the book in the first place, according to dad.

I liked some, just nothing that makes me go ' yea that's super cool', just stays in the middle for the most part.

Holy shit man FUCK FE4. That game is so damn hard (at least before that thing happens).

And FE5 is supposed to be harder too.

FE4 doesn't even hold a candle to FE5's difficulty. It's on a whole new level, if fact I don't thinks it's a well designed hard mode game at all. It's just pure bullshit for the most part. Almost impossible to do without some sort of help of guide

Your dad sounds like an asshole.
I read that book.
it was bad, and tried to make me into an asshole.
It probably didn't work. Only you guys know for sure I guess.

It's so weird that it's not more common. It must be really hard to balance or something.

I don't even care that it's hard to balance
give me an unbalanced one
just FE:A's, but let me do it versus rather than against dumbass streetpass AI
I think it just might not occur to people when developing that this is a thing people want.

Eww, radiant dawn.
I'm actually a little mad it gets the prices it does, as someone who bought both on launch.
I assume it's to hide the shame.
They're okay.

At least Naesala, Mia, Zihark, Mordecai and Soren are cool, power hungry fool kicks major fucking ass, and it gave you an actual soldier-class unit in Nephinee, who is super cool and fun to use.
Actually that game had a bunch of pretty cool characters. Probably because it had so many they couldn't help but get a few of them right.
Nephenee is probably my single favourite unit in the whole of the Fire Emblem series (Ayra coming in close). Dammit Intelligent Systems bring back the soldier class!

Mhmm, they were baiting out a three parter.

I'd like to read it just to have an opinion, but Objectivist ideals are kinda uninteresting. Ethics of exclusive self-interest are something I don't think make for an convincing moral code, and are ideas more suited for a governmental laissez faire system.

You know what, I'd prefer it to be unbalanced. I want my broken bullshit vs your broken bullshit.

I CAN SEE IT
IT'S RIGHT OVER THERE
JUST PLEASE
MAKE IT BLUE
NO?
COME ON GUYS

She was my favorite unit of that game too. Just so much fun to use, like a knight with decent movement, or a calvary that could go over mountains and wasn't weak to horseslayers.

I understand the reason she came up with it (she grew up in Russia, and moved to the US a few years after the rise of the USSR, so she was a really strong believer in capitalism), but I'm a firm believer in helping out the less fortunate.

A big part of what I hated about Anthem was that 90% of it used no singular personal pronouns (it was a plot thing), which started getting old by the end of the first chapter.

My dad is convinced Atlas Shrugged is one of the greatest modern books ever written. I saw how big it was and was like "nah", at which point he bemoaned the waste of my potential.

I've never read it, but after Anthem, I have no desire to. I'll stick to super slowly working my way through A Song of Ice and Fire.

No need to rush, enjoy your first playthrough of the game.

SS and FE7 both had Arena. Arguably and surprisingly, the Shadow Dragon remake had proper grid-based versus map multiplayer, and it's the only one in the series released west-side to do that.

How do you go "eww" at Ike and slobber all over FE7's turgid dick and still go to sleep at night? FE7 feels so barebones compared to the proceeding games (except for Shadow Dragon). Unless the gameplay radically changes past Chapter 20, there's very little of a case to make here. Guy, Dorcas, Dart, Lucius, Serra, Erk, Hawkeye, etc. are all really underwhelming characters from what I saw.

Also I found it odd how supporting in FE7 was basically a hidden system that you never properly learn about at all.

Yep, that's that FE7 goodness. Except with some degree of tactics please. I sometimes would just make a competitive team of only archers and nomads
and one lyn I never attacked with
. It was funny to watch as there was just kind of a realization as you got rid of the ?'s and there was only more archers. And then there was the surprise hidden in there.
Actually, I think the competitive strategy might've been in Shadow Dragon instead.
What a waste.

I like minarchy (minimal government), actually, and I'd probably call myself Libertarian, but everything about Rand seems closer to a type of Anarchy/Capitalism and promotes purely selfish behavior on a moral level and that's just dumb. The question is who and how to help people, not "don't help people" that's dumb and selfish.

I can see her bouncing back hard from Russian socialism though. Socalism is kinda bad.

Also that sounds awful to read, goddamn.

I don't know if anyone plays league here, please don't make fun of me if you don't like it that's completely cool, but someone drew some champions in Fire Emblem portrait style and I thought it was really cool!

Moba's are kinda unpopular here, especially League. I used to play but stopped after my team fell apart.

Like Fraud said, the worst you'll get is some light jokes.

I have different political views (which I'm not going to go into, because I'm a firm believer in not talking about politics or religion with people you want to keep talking to), but yeah, self-centeredness to an absurd degree isn't really a good thing.

You've only played the base version(Eliwood's normal), and not to completion. You don't know the beauty of that game's hard modes. (Also it really does step it up kinda hard after chapter 20.)
I played all 3 games on the highest difficulty. The difference really shows.
The gamecube and wii games were largely the victim of power creep, as your units got stronger and stronger and the enemies just couldn't keep up. It didn't require intense strategy like a hard mode should, just intensely OP units that the game would just give you. Third tiers were busted, and there's a reason they haven't come back since.
Arena was definitely a thing, but that's really an exploit for save-scummers. Try playing the game without it, and it's a very different experience.

Sorry if I stepped on your toes or anything. I'm kinda a sucker for getting into those big no-no topics.
That's because Persona 4 is a ok game with a likeable cast of characters and you're opinionated.
I agree
