Super Best Friends Thread 17: I don't have Bloodborne or Monster Hunter... Uhh...

Status
Not open for further replies.
Just noticed something from Bloodborne recently.

The areas are a bit smaller than ones in DS1 almost consisting of halls and corridors yet heavily supporting the dodge mechanics (especially the back dodges). Even crazier is most of the weapons in the game do horizontal swings in both modes. The lack of thrust weapons so far supports the fact that From wants us to master the dodge mechanics even in really tight areas and be very aggro. Completely different from how I play the Souls series.

Just an observation, but I hope that if they make DLC weapons, they'll make thrust weapons or at least a caestus variant.

I hate that in chrome. It makes it a pain when I "accidentally" open too many tabs and try closing them after i'm done with them. It's the worst since they don't make it easy to close them.

Believe it or not, I read hentai manga a lot and when I like their art, I look at the rest of the series they've done... Sometimes even look for other art they've done.
.
Right click the tab, 'close other tabs' and 'close tabs to the right' dabes

YOU READ A LOT OF HENTAI MANGA!? WELLINEVER
I generally would just sub to the artist to come back later.

I bet he didn't. He's going to be sad at how much money he spend yesterday.

Here's how it would go for me.

I, kinda thought the opposite. The city-esque areas are tight and jam packed, but the open areas feel way more open, but your increased walkspeed compensates for the size of it really hard.

Saw spear strong attack is a stab, Axe has some stab moves as part of it's combos, Pimp cane has a really good fast stab as it's strong. Those are the only weapons I've tried since I went skill, there's probably more from those weapons.

Also if you like caestus the
pile bunker might be your thing

IT'S REALLY HARD CONCENTRATING ON A PODCAST AN SOMETHING NOT MUNDANE. I've tried reading manga and listening podcasts, and it barely works since i always tune out the podcast and just pick up bits and pieces. If i listen to the podcast then i miss out on the story.

Not if you like the artist's work and then click the artist tab intending to look at all their other work and then realize that there are sequels to some of their works, so then you open the first one in a new tab so you still have a "main page" that keeps track of what you've read with all the other sequels on one page to make it easier to read the next one. afadiofhaslkfjasf CRAP'S COMPLICATED. DON'T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE.

Of course. I never combine manga and podcasts. Only music. Every time I read a new Boku no Hero Academia I listen to this because this is what I first listened to when reading through the first 16 chapters. Sounds and music become pavlovian to me pretty easily. I need thing with thing because that's the pattern now. Recently I've listened to this a lot while reading random shit. Listening to things during books and manga is weird since it can give off a radically different feeling than what the product is. Like Aaron being a poop and muting Dark Souls while listening to his own garbage.

The amount of times I've clicked on an artist's name and falling down the 10-20 tab whole is too much.

I dislike chrome's layout mostly because of how once you get enough tabs they're just x icons and it's really hard to not close them when you click them. Firefox lets you scroll the tab bar with scrollbar and they don't shrink past a certain point.

That's why I have 4 separate windows dedicated to different things so it doesn't become too cluttered on one page.

Ah ok. And I have the "hard to start" thing too, it just extends to the first percentage of the thing too. I guess.
Sometimes I do stuff like mod Planetscape torment and get it working and then once I booted the game and spent half an hour making a character, I put it down for the forseeable future, probably basically forever.

My one trick is buying things when I want to play them, the significance of money helps motivate me to enjoy the thing. It's part of why I'd like to buy anime DVDs of stuff like Black Lagoon just to have it all right there and have motivation to just GO
I usually stick my toe in the water for random things to see if anything happens sometimes. Not for everything though. Also that's why I just spend 2 minutes in character creators now. I just want to get to the game usually and not spend too long killing myself in a character creator.

Also having money makes that weird. I buy things and they just sit in the plastic. I've been meaning to watch Redline for weeks, but it's just sitting there. I have to force myself a lot to start things and then I get hooked easily usually if the product is obviously good.

Perhaps it's because of the setting of everything being enclosed within a city, which totally changes later, but I've never seen that much past the 2nd boss.

but i don't want to close ALL of them, just select few!

Not for the reasons you think, surprisingly. I want to read all their work now and also later!

It depends on how much you spend and how much you enjoyed it.

I can't be that organized. And huh, yeah I guess.

Music and literature is really easy, since music doesn't require much thinking or understanding. So it becomes enjoyable background noise. Music doesn't seem to really affect me that much, like just because I'm listening to cutesy girl anime music doesn't mean I can't enjoy Guts killing things.

It's really bad when I have the need to save all their art work so then i open them into new tabs.

It's easier when you have someone else who helps motivate you to watch something. Since you can always make the excuse of doing it "later".

Luckily I have my sexy undo button to reverse that problem and open up the tab i accidentally closed.
This is totally relevant and I'll post it anyway
If you really think of it, Met
-THE BABY-
riod is a mecha.

Also totally relevant. Here's a tab I had open for 12 hours waiting for a good time to post it.

Now I can finally close it.

It doesn't require much. It's just me thinking I've had this youtube tab up for a while and haven't watched the video. Time to move it to my window with youtube tabs I'll eventually maybe probably not watch sort of.

I usually like my music to match the theme of the thing I'm reading. If I'm reading Berserk I want something actiony or something dreary to listen to. I just like matching tones. I could listen to a cutesy thing, but again, I feel like I wouldn't be fully enjoying the thing as much as I could be. I always liked the idea of having a playlist of shit associated with a thing to read.

Yeah, I always liked the idea of exchanging shows to watch like a weird book club. If it's a just a person nagging you to do it though? It becomes a turnoff usually.

I just remembered I have a Cowboy Bebop and Paprika bluray in plastic too. I like to buy things, but I just need to get to them instead of letting them sit.

I'm a fan of them but that thread scares me. It moves at an insane pace that makes it almost impossible to follow any of the conversations.
Yeah, agreed, there was no way I could keep up. I couldn't help feeling like it was just a handful of people constantly posting, and the conversations always seemed to go back to Persona for some reason. The subreddit is easier to follow though, so I just frequent that instead.
We really are PersonaGaf.
;_;
Using one of Aaron's previous posts "The Best Friends are okay, but they're not on the level of pornography yet.‏"
How is that a good thing?

I'm such a mono-activity guy. My tabs number in the 5 tabs open max.
When I leave in the morning I don't start my music player until I'm in the stairs bacause I like hearing the silence of my appartment bafore leaving.
I do do stuff while listening to music but I sometimes stop the music to better understand what I'm reading if I'm reading a somewhat complicated book.
Did you hear? The NEO is the official super best friends forum!

I'm honestly surprised we haven't been shut down yet or all banned and set to Australia.

Cause they can't touch us. If they ban us, most of Gaf gets banned. Truth!

That's interesting. i never thought of it like that.

I was thinking more like a friend watching it with you and enjoying it at a same level as you.

It's just like steam, buy things with the intention to play only to never play them.

I'm sorta the opposite, music all the time, can't stop won't stop.
When do we takeover gaf?
When one of us becomes a mod.
lol

If you really think about it, you're getting off on bunch of lines resembling people having sex.

Erotic fiction is huge man. Some good shit out there too. Makes me Snowstorm like a motherfucker.

Snowstorming is when you ejaculate so hard that your entire room looks like it got covered in snow.

I'm surprised they said we have a lot of members. It's only like 30-45 or whatever. Or is that a lot? I dunno

For a single community thread on a single videogame forum with a pretty high barrier of entry, I'd say that's quite a lot. We move faster than pretty much any other consistent thread except WrassleGAF.

Makes you realize there are more people who know about this thread than you think. I should watch what I say. It also looks like we scared off a couple of people due to the speed and persona talk.

Was that me? Jesus Christ I don't remember shit I've said here.
Yup, dunno why I remember this so fondly, even tried to submit it as one of the thread titles.

I have 5 tabs of just manga currently. I'm out of controolllll.

If I'm listening to a podcast/radio, I'll play a dumb game that requires little attention (Monster Hunter/Heartstone etc.). In fact I've done that with a lot of SBFP videos lately. Especially during Plague's Dark Souls run.
If I'm reading then I listen to random music of just whatever. I find it hard to focus if I'm not chomping on snack food or music so loud my ears bleed (not that loud, but enough to block out the external noise of just life).

With alll the avatar changing, it looks like there are hundreds of us.
Time to take over Gaf with our endless numbers.
OF COURSE, ITS ALL THE PALETTE SWAPS INFLATING THE ROSTER LIKE IN MORTAL KOMBAT

I suppose so. I get the fast thing, but the numbers thing was kinda odd.

Maybe they mean members who post exclusively in this thread? I know I haven't made a post in regular gaf in weeks.

I'm a lurker at heart so when I leave this thread I rarely post. In fact the first time I ever posted a lot in one place was this thread.

I'd be scared of them silently judging me while watching it. Some people are good about backing off and not doing the shifty eyes thing of looking at you for facial reactions though. I know I've done that before and I have to learn to restrain myself from it.

Also yes.

It's been a problem with physical/digital media with me for a while. I really like owning things. Bought Type 0 HD and haven't done anything with it or the FF15 demo. I just tell myself I'm supporting the game as an excuse for buying it new. Or sometimes I'll tell myself it's fine because the game is likely to increase in price later or cool preorder swag or it's a nintendo game so price drops never happen or a lot of other excuses.

I never felt like I ever have much to add to any discussions over real topics. I always come into one where it's already had all the questions answered and it's just a few people arguing over some dumb shit.

That Bayo rape thread was my first time actually entering a thread "for real", and it ended up being repeats of the same shit since people don't read threads, they just kneejerk post.

I only really post in anime threads. People there actually tend to recognize that I defend almost everything. Fuckers shat on Kill la Kill like it was garbage, had to let them know they were wrong and that unless it was as bad as Strike the Blood then it wasn't bad.

Oh wow man. I remember being excited when I hit 300 games on Steam awhile back.

Anime book club sounds fun, it's sorta what we do now, but it's just through posting suit from the series.

It is. Imagination is amazing. that's nice to know. you'd have to squeeze out all the bodily fluids to make your room look like that, but sure.

I'd say we move consistently faster than any other thread on GAF.
Imagine how good that'd be though. We'd all have tags.

I think me being top poster by a wide margin shows how I'm ok with our pace.
It would be the best.

As second top poster, I'm also okay.

There's actually a large group of people who like the SBF on GAF, even Bish has seen SBF content. I have a feeling they wouldn't post regardless of us being fast and "big".

You remember it because it's true.

Time to PM you a ton to read, muhahaha.

let's plagues are closer to podcasts imo. it's great and I love it.

During the past few days, I've been playing mechaweek videos while catching up to the thread. What do I remember? Nothing!
I play all my games with their audio, you never know when sound cues revealing stuuf in the game can happen. Anything else is distracting, let's not even talk about people who talk during cutscenes.
We've basically become the Woolie hole
