I think it's weak... for now. I feel like once you have Episode 59, 60 and so on, then the pacing will seem fine and the overall quality will improve since it's not what your left on.

It didn't help with how bad the post-episode ending was. It was a great spot to throw something GT in but they instead went back to the bug people with an incest joke.

I watched the DBZ Cell saga and the DB Piccolo Jr. saga for the first time at roughly the same time.

The difference in animation quality between the two was staggering when watching them back to back.

I thought the episode was great but I figured they'd cover the whole Goku vs Cell fight in a single episode, get Gohan's transformation out of the way on the next one and close up the saga on episode 60 with a 3 parter. Can't see that happening now as the next episode will probably be entirely dedicated to Goku and Cell again.

Yeah, they mentioned on the stream that there is a lot that happens in the Goku vs. Cell fight that people forget about because of Gohan, so the next episode or two will probably be the goku vs. Cell fight. It sounds like they're not gonna end the season with a 3-part episode 60, so we'll see.

Yeah. Part of me thinks it wouldn't have been as noticeable if Goku & Gohan weren't perpetually Super Saiyan, but the proportions are still blatantly off.

Cell's taking him to PU because he stinks. It's not a complicated pun at all.

Most university names are abbreviated to acronyms, so Perfect University becomes P.U.

The 'academic' part is the setup for it, though it's easy to miss. The academic in question being Gohan.


Speaking of which, the fact that at least 25% of Cell does not know, like Piccolo, to say Makankosapo and instead goes 'Cannon!', so now we know how much of Piccolo is in there.
Lots of callbacks to the earliest episodes of Abridged, is it because the ten year anniversary is coming up?
edit: oh right, the 'Perfect University' is itself a callback to Saiyan University that was used with Nappa. He had a minor in pain though. Can't quite make out what Cell is saying during his brief 'pattycake' moment though. Gimme a minute.
