Finished this the other night,What an amazing and sometimes frustrating experience it was (the floaty camera and slightly clunky controls mainly).Trico is an incredible creation, the way he moved and his mannerisms are a work of art.I found the puzzles to be simple but also pretty well done. The main draw of the game is the relationship between the two characters,it was just so well done and a real emotional rollercoaster for me.This is definitely a game that will live long in my memory and it's up there with my games of the generation so far.

Just finished my second playthrough.
Didn't get all the barrels unfortunately but somehow got the Intensive Care trophy! =D

I still cried at the end (I blame the music) and I still have never wanted anything more than to hug this digital creature and never let go.

God damn this game is wonderful.

Couldn't wait till Christmas, played 2.5 hours. Yeah, there is no other triple A game like this. The Ueda mysticism and surreal atmosphere is on 100. Am I to believe it gets better from where I am?
Trico "ate me" and I woke up with no shield
if so, wow.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

That's like 15% of the way through the game. You've got a ways to go.

there have been a bunch of fantastic OST's this gen but I think TLG's my favorite after listening to it in depth over the last few days, every track is phenomenal

Played a bit more now. Still not that far into this game but I can now do the clap and other motions and I'm feeling the game a bit more. Hopefully it grows on me more and more.

Got the where the e3 demo ended and I gotta say, to this point - it was the single most exciting bit except I've already seen it which took away from it the power of the trico catch and the tail rescue

Don't worry, there are far more better set pieces than that. ;)

I'd put you at like 35 to 40% if you're at that part. It only continues to escalate from there.

just started it. first Team Ico game.

got through the first two or three areas. crawled thru a hole and now i'm past some gates on a really bright cliff and can't for the life of me figure out where to go next. been running around this tiny area for like 15 minutes

Pretty much exactly what I would have posted as I just finished it last night. I dropped a lot of F bombs in frustration but in the end they were all worth it.

If this is where I think it is you have to get tricat jump on a thing, its tail will come down for you to climb on.

Go to the end where thr gate is. Trico should jump over it

Call it back down and jump on him and it, or try to point him at the direction of the gate and he will jump it

I'm stuck and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or my game is bugged. I'm at the part with the towers and the hanging eyes, where the ledge breaks and Trico has to catch me as I drop. Except he never catches me. Is there some button that I should be pressing as I fly by, or am I screwed?

Is there any way to get rid of the button prompts?

No, but they pretty much disappear as the game goes on, thankfully.

Is that from the E3 demo where you grab his tail? I missed the first time, I had to spam triangle to catch his tail as I fell.

He reaches for you with his beak, drops you, then catches you with his tail. I somehow made it work because I think I pushed some button that made the boy reach for Trico? I have no idea...

Anyway, I'm stuck in the tree now and Trico won't come help me, oh joy.

Wow, what a game. I waited most of my adult life for this game, and it did not disappoint.

I wish there was a way to hide the button prompts at least in subsequent playthroughs. I plan on playing this at least one or two more times in the next few months.

The use of imperfect communication and building nonverbal rapport between human and animal in TLG is damn brilliant. TRICO is trying to figure you out,I think it's brilliantly realistic that there is a constant back and forth.

I feel you, we got stuck on the same parts.
The tree is the hardest puzzle in the game, ha, I had to google it. You have to yell for Trico and struggle, and Trico will change position once, then try and jump next to you. He'll go back to the pillar and watch you. Yell and struggle again, and third time is the charm, he'll jump above you and you'll be able to reach out and grab onto his tail. I thought it was going to be a physics puzzle where, if I angled myself just right, I'd fall off the branch for Trico to catch me. I was very wrong.

Absolutely, it's just incredible. It really feels like a genuine, building partnership, and feels so satisfying as the relationship builds throughout the game.

Yep. Gameplay isn't his best (the camera and framerate really should be better) but he's outdone himself, artistically.

Every time an Ueda game is released there's a sea change in art direction in the industry. Ico = the way "escort missions" are portrayed. SOTC = portrayal of lighting, scale, motion blur, boss design, etc. TLG will most likely mark a noticeable increase in the quality of AI for wildlife NPCs and how the player emotionally responds to a game's story. And this is from a game scheduled to come out in 2011. If it was released back then with all the setpieces and everything, it would've definitely blown everyone away instead of recieving somewhat mixed (but overall positive) reviews.

I was thinking about doing a replay and using a guide for missing barrels, but I'm leaning more towards a 'reliving the magic' run, not caring about trophies except some easy ones I don't need a guide for. I feel like I need to go through this again to relive the experience.

Don't use a guide. Just take your time during your second run and look around everywhere. You'll come across plenty of barrels that you missed the first time through.

Got to the part last night with
evil Trico pushing you off the cliff.
It definitely gave me some motivation to push forward with the game, as I'm pretty curious what that's all about, and how it will resolve.

The parts after were the first that I had a ton of problems with Trico following my commands. I could tell what to do and was issuing the right order, but Trico was just taking it's time. Pretty annoying.

Also you can spoiler it, but is there any reason to collect the bottles for Trico outside of achievements?

I feel like the game really picks up from there

Okay. Major spoilers in the following, please only answer my question if you've beaten the game.

So, I went to the Prima guide to see how much I had left after pushing the cauldron with the blue smoke into the water, and I saw something about a "true" ending, and requirements to get it? Whaaaaaaaaaaat. Is there a way to tell me how to get the "true" ending without spoiling it? I didn't know it had multiple endings.

There aren't multiple endings. There is only one ending. I can only assume they are mistaken or referring to the cutscene that plays after the credits finish.

I really want to try to finish this before I leave the country tomorrow. I just passed the part where
I get trapped in a cage and have to roll around like a hamster
. How much longer do I have till the end? I'm not trying to rush either.

I just started this up last night. So far, I really enjoy it. But if anything gets me to stop playing this it'll be the damn camera. It's horrible.

Just played like 10 minutes which is about all I can manage before I leave for my winter break, unfortunately.

One of my favorite parts is actually the thing that seems most maligned by other people: Trico doesn't always listen. I love how slow and un-game-like the pace is, at least early on. Very relaxing.

You're about 60% of the way through.

i would consider giving this game a 9 but ehh... i dunno. the last couple hours were a bit too, absolutely amazing maybe? i'd have to give it a 10. yeah..

or maybe mediocre AI works in favor of the concept, in which case it's a win win

I'm ok with Trico's AI most of the time, but sometimes he just stands there still doing nothing. He doesn't even move his head and his neck looks like vulture.

It only happens when the boy is on Trico's head.

It's like the game turns Trico off when he does that lol.

I feel sorry for people who will try to get a trophy for all barrels / no death and get fucked by Trico. In my first (and so far only) playthrough Trico punched off the cliff at least 2 times and also did that to a barrel once. The other time a barrel just disappeared into geometry and I couldn't retrieve it.

By far the least polished Ueda game. I still like it quite a bit and hope he continues to work on new games.

It's a sad thing that the experience can change so much, I played the game on PS4 Pro and on the contrary, this is by far the most polished game by Ueda I've played, but I understand that OG PS4 is... complicated.
